all you are is a.........bloody good teacher!!!.......i hate all the musos who kinda confuse with details that are not pertinent to learning the basics.....you cut to the chase and i understood the landscape of the fretboard....THANKS FOR YOUR GENEROSITY IN SPREADING THE GOOD STUFF FOR FREE!!

Nicely done. But I'm curious about one thing, why at about the 8-9 minute mark you use F and C on the wrong strings and frets. Could you not have made the same point using the actual notes for the position? Perhaps I have completely missed the point of that particular exercise.
@cblue123418 сағат бұрын
Let’s call 3 frets a long and 2 frets a short. The pattern is 2 long followed by 3 shorts over and over. That’s the one and only pattern. All 5 pentatonic patterns are really this one pattern with 5 different starting positions. The b string can make this a little harder to see but there’s still just one pattern.

Thanks for the Pentatonic Vision. I think this will go a long way. I've seen the Rotation of the Pentatonic before but you squeezed some more simplicity into how to view it. If there was a way to tie in some Triad Inversions off from the Root with some chord progressions, I guess we will be Masters at Guitar. Great Job

This is the best explanation of the fretboard I have ever seen. So well explained, and instead of just giving us the shapes you actually elaborate on how they can apply to chords which was really helpful to me. I’ve been so focused on learning all the pentatonic shapes but not paying attention to how they relate to the actual notes in the scale. Thank you for this

Nice diagrams, some teachers don't post them. I've played this back a bunch of times and I still don't understand how you suggest getting back. When I get to the end-that b3 (A# note), I then put my little finger from that note to the b7 (F) on the 3d string and my 1st finger on the 5 (D) then slide to the 4 (C) then I can play that 4-5 and 1-b3 on the 3d & 4th strings, then your 1st finger is on the root at the 5th fret of the 4th string, then you can slide again to the b7 on the 4th string and you are back at the start. Is that not good? Are you suggesting just picking up your fingers from that 6th and 5th string shape and hopping to the root on the 4th string? Thanks.

First off - if you're spending time doing this on the fretboard, bravo. That's where the magic happens. If I may, I suggest taking a break and try horizontal pentatonic, that may help fill in the blanks. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYG9p3SYmK5qja8 Thanks for watching, stick to it!

This is a great series on the pentatonic, I did see Doug's original video. I like alternate ways to see it. I was influenced by Jon Finn's book, "Advanced Modern Rock Improvisation," and others had the same idea: on each pair of strings you can see 5 patterns. 2 are short rectangles, 1 is a long rectangle and 2 are trapezoids.

I've had this for a year almost, and since this video I've had to clean the volume pot and repair the pickup switch as well. It's still my favourite guitar, but the electronics are cheap. I've had to do none of this on my other guitars in years of ownership and use.
