This is the best explanation of the fretboard I have ever seen. So well explained, and instead of just giving us the shapes you actually elaborate on how they can apply to chords which was really helpful to me. I’ve been so focused on learning all the pentatonic shapes but not paying attention to how they relate to the actual notes in the scale. Thank you for this

Great job in filling in the blanks of Doug's video. This made it crystal clear for me. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Great lesson.. as a beginner I stumbled on this awhile back and found it way easier than trying to remember multiple patterns. It’s the same pattern and same intervals all over the fretboard

Keep at it, thanks for watching!

Stumbled on this and I’m very confused, I think I need to watch a few more times. The perfects 1/4, 1/3, make my head hurt.

They're not fractions, they are notes in a scale. Grab a coffee and watch this one, should help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXXZZ2NpfsqUoaM

That’s why it is important to learn triads and major scale at the same time. You will see these patterns over time. The problem is in how deep you go in the exercise. If you just play shapes that is what you will learn: a shape. If you go deep and say out loud the note and degree, you will learn relations. Going deep however takes continuous daily effort for years and that’s were most fall off.

Thanks for the Pentatonic Vision. I think this will go a long way. I've seen the Rotation of the Pentatonic before but you squeezed some more simplicity into how to view it. If there was a way to tie in some Triad Inversions off from the Root with some chord progressions, I guess we will be Masters at Guitar. Great Job

Nicely done. But I'm curious about one thing, why at about the 8-9 minute mark you use F and C on the wrong strings and frets. Could you not have made the same point using the actual notes for the position? Perhaps I have completely missed the point of that particular exercise.
@tooofartАй бұрын
It was to demonstrate that, on a normally tuned string, G, C and F are all on top of each other, but when traversing the B string, they shift. Using the actual notes conveys the same message. Thanks for watching!
@allenbrininstool7558Ай бұрын
Come on man! At each root start the pattern again and adjust on the B string. Add the blue note in each
@cblue1234Ай бұрын
Let’s call 3 frets a long and 2 frets a short. The pattern is 2 long followed by 3 shorts over and over. That’s the one and only pattern. All 5 pentatonic patterns are really this one pattern with 5 different starting positions. The b string can make this a little harder to see but there’s still just one pattern.

Oh no! not another boring, overdone, minor Pentatonic video,
