I've got a situation with my current apt, I'm in pa in case that matters as far as code. He hired local guys to replace the steps leading in to my only door on the second floor above a business. It has about 15 steps up to a landing then about 5 at 90* to the left going to my door. They used just treated lumber with absolutely no finish, stain, paint, nothing. The maintenance guy keeps saying it needs a year to vent before any of that stuff can be put on. In the meantime, there's knots, like the kind that literally will rip the skin off your hand, and sections of the grain that have started to warp and stick up to a sharp point in certain spots due to being outside the last 6 months with no finish at all, and on top of that, the stairs aren't level (sitting on bricks on the bottom stair) and the last step going to the landing is about 3.5" higher than the rest of stairs. Does all this sound like they're not up to code, not being safe to catch myself if I slip, etc. On top of that I've got a flat roof with 3 leaks in various rooms he hasn't fixed in 8 months so my question is, if all this stuff isn't up to code what can I do about it? ( I know a ton of smart asses would say move out but realistically it's a lovely space, really big for little cost and I'll never get a deal like this again, he's just negligent when it comes to fixing problems)

Im grabbing a set of those suspenders for my framer bags, I had the bags on my suspenda-vest but I had to grab some smaller oxy bags, felt too bulky on the vest, hopefully the suspenders will solve my issue.

I have the same Graco Falcon 10:1 pump and it recently seized on me. Is there a chance you could post a video of how you disassembled the pump to rebuild it?
@benu56424 ай бұрын
Please disregard my previous request for a how-to video on disassembling the pump. Graco's manuals have disassembly instructions. Looks like the problem is the pump because after I disconnected the pump from the air motor, the displacement rod was stuck and had to be freed with a light tap using a rubber mallet. I bought the Falcon from someone on Craigslist and I don't know the maintenance history, so I'm going to do a displacement pump rebuild. I might even record it and post it on KZbin. BTW, this airless system is the best spray setup I have ever used. I have previously purchased a Turbinaire HVLP sprayer and a cordless Graco sprayer, but this Falcon pump and G15 gun outperform my past two sprayers in efficiency. I can't comment on finish quality yet because I'm still getting used to the air assist, but my preliminary results are good (not perfect yet). Simple cleanup is the best part of my current spray setup. Cleaning the Turbinaire gun and the Graco cordless spray gun was way too time consuming and made me prefer to use a brush on most finish jobs. Now I don't hesitate to use my Falcon for smaller finish jobs. Thanks for the great comment and for sharing those info links. The Graco Air-Assisted Airless are fantastic units. Any issues I’ve had with finish quality have been the fault of myself and not the unit. I use the Graco guns and they do well too.

I use to own a business that sold, serviced and repaired industrial equipment like lathes, injection molding, milling machines, welders, etc. My business also repaired table saws, bandsaws, wood lathes. I did this for nearly 40 years. So, have a lot of experience repairing tools like the bandsaw shown in this video. This video demonstrates something I highly advise NOT to do. You don't want to go drilling holes in the pulleys of the bandsaw. Once you remove the metal, it can't be replaced easily. DON"T DO IT!!!! The better way to balance the pulley is like how automobile tires are balanced. You place a weight opposite the heavy side of the pulley. A weight can be easily added and removed where necessary. Many folks think balancing the pulley will solve vibration problems. That is partly true. But, you must look at the V-belt from the motor to the lower drive pulley. V-belts have a real bad habbit of going out of round and develop a bad spot around the smaller motor pulley if the saw has sat idle for awhile. This is the main culprit for the vibration in the saw. Instead of buying another v-belt, go to the auto parts store, Harbor freight or Amazon and buy a segmented belt or link belt for about $35. It will save you all sorts of aggravation dealing with unwanted saw vibration. Work smarter, not harder.

Any reason you didn't use a structural epoxy or acrylic adhesive to bond the bushing in place? Many are available specifically for structural metal bonds. Flaring the ends with the ball bearing and ball peen end of the hammer in a vise would have allowed a consistent and slow flare. Good ideas in this video, thanks.
@AWoodworkersLife8 ай бұрын
Good idea. I didn’t think about trying to stack them all in a vise. I wonder if it would have gotten enough clamping force? That tubing was a lot harder to flare than I expected. It would be worth trying next time though. As for epoxy, I was worried about it being too runny and not staying put while the ends were being flared. An acrylic like Loctite 660 would be ideal, I just don’t have any and so I grabbed the next closest thing I had that I knew wouldn’t shrink and crack when it dried.

Great video, thanks for posting it. Appreciate you leaving in the mistakes as it helps us watching avoid making them and reminds us we're human. I have the "new" Unisaw, 36-L352 purchased in 2012 and the arbor bearings are sound awful and have been for a while. Dreading replacing them, but know it must be done so these videos are really helpful. Merry Christmas.
@AWoodworkersLife11 ай бұрын
Thanks! I sometimes think I could just do videos on my mistakes lol. so it’s good to know that you don’t mind if they are left in. Remember to check the main bearing on the motor as well. The motor bearing usually lasts multiple times that of the arbor bearings, but you never know if a previous owner, a random KZbinr, or even the person at the factory dropped the motor 😆
@moeszyslack467611 ай бұрын
@@AWoodworkersLifeThanks for the reply. I replaced the bearings on an older jointer I had, including the motor. As you said, the motor bearings were fine but the cutter head bearings were shot. Having done that, I got a mechanic's stethoscope to listen to the bearings on my table saw's motor and arbor. Motor sounded fine but arbor not so much. I'm the original owner so no concerns with previous shoddy work.

I just ordered my first O.L suspenders from Amazon. I would get neck pain from wearing fall protection harness with my work belt so hopefully these suspenders will be more comfortable
@AWoodworkersLife Жыл бұрын
Yes, more comfortable than a standard fall protection harness. I’ve not used one of the padded fall protection harnesses so I can’t really comment on that. It took a couple days to get used to them but they are a big win for me. My only complaint is how stiff they are for the first month.

Great question, in my carpentry trailer I just clamp them to the internal ribs for the roof, but in a shop I’d probably use a 1/2” dowel, 6-12” long sticking out of the wall, and hang the head of the clamps on it.
