i basically the same rims, my buddy said they were of a old mustang i think he said, but anyway i just sand blasted them, just wondering if it’s the same processes?
@CaptMaxADVАй бұрын
I’m not sure if they’ll polish up after sand blasting without extensive effort sanding them back smooth. Give it a shot! The only wheels I’ve had sand blasted I got powdercoated black afterwards. Have held up good for years.
@alexleblanc3135Ай бұрын
@CaptMaxADV that was my plan at first if I can polish them it would be cheaper
@jimbo2.094Ай бұрын
Great video. I’ve got these same wheels and they are probably 30 years old. Does this completely take off the clear coat? Not that it really matters but just wondering if stripping them may help.
@CaptMaxADVАй бұрын
I don’t think mine ever had clear coat, or at least not anything left if it. I bought this truck in about 2016, with the wheels. No idea how they originally were.

Great stuff. Exactly what i want to do on my landcruiser. I know you need to switch on the rear just to activate the compressor but i was wondering would it not be better to have a seperate switch to activate the compressor only for the times you want to pump up stuff or if like me you have the onboard air tank ? Only because you rear locker will always be activated everytime you want to fill up the air tank or when using the pressure control for tire inflation. Just a thought but great work you done for sure
@CaptMaxADV2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I think having another switch to run the compressor separate from the locker would be worth installing. I just didn’t want to go through the extra effort, and this way keeps it all pretty clean and simple. On the point of running the rear locker whenever the pump is on, I theorize that that is a good thing for it. For one thing is just to get some actuation out of the sliding components inside the diff, and also to just run air into the system/seals within the diff. By actuating the locker on every occasion that I need compressed air, it just exercises the whole system and I hope prolongs it’s life or prevents some sort of binding from lack of use. Couple more points: It might be years and years between ever needing to or actuating the lockers. Probably not good for them to sit for that long. Also, I once mistakenly ran down the highway in Baja for probably over 100 miles, a few intersection turns also, with my rear locker on! It wasn’t until I had my windows down and was pulling off the highway onto dirt road that I realized the she was locked up. So, while not good for tire wear and general component life/strain, an operable locker isn’t probably going to harm much! My thoughts. Do as you wish! 🙌🏻
@nasseral-momen14632 ай бұрын
@CaptMaxADV I reckon the best might be to have a 2 way circuit. So you can switch the compressor on separately but it also switches on when the diff is activated as you have done in this video. Seems like the best of both worlds and that way you won't forget to turn on the compressor for the difflocks

Good video, enjoying your adventure so far, would be better without the music though :-)
@CaptMaxADV2 ай бұрын
I will second that! The music selection to choose from for KZbin videos is the biggest problem with trying to be a “creator”. Because it all SUCKS!! It’s only a question, when editing, of either wind noise, silence, or shitty music! 😆 Sorry and I hate it as much as you do! 🙏🏻

Great video! I went through northern California in December 2022, but didn't plan for the amount of time I really needed. I got a small hike in, but wasn't able to do Avenue of the Giants. The redwoods are so massive that it's hard to convey, even with pictures and video, how small they make you feel. I'm overdue to go back and spend some time there, but I appreciate a good moto video that helps refresh my memories of what I'm missing out there.

Your compressor keeps running, suggesting a leak. Happened to me twice. Once was a diff breather tube stuck open. The other was an airline loose connection to the compressor. Both easy fixes. Your compressor should not continue to run once locked. FYI
@CaptMaxADV2 ай бұрын
Thanks my friend. Other than setting up the gears, I installed this air system, and understand how it should and should work! LOL! It really doesn’t ever run once activated except for a minor top off every now and then. It definitely doesn’t run continually. Good lookin out! 🙌🏻

Basically while riding you must display to every criminal around that your carrying, having to pay money to another human being for "permission" to conceal your weapon is absurd and absolutely nothing more then control and a money grab. Some say its the training you get out of it, well we can carry openly without any training, and if its such a safety concern, then classes should be free to every one!
