Hello David i hope you`re well. I spoke to you on one of your other videos . Anyway my battery died in the watch and a little research suggested replacing the watch controller. Again after some research failed to find help. Anyway to the point. The watches are meant to be sealed and quite difficult to prize apart and seemingly impossible to do without cosmetic damage to the edges. No problem though it’s neatly covered with tape. It takes the common 3V 2032 battery which i replaced and the led light that comes on when pressing a button id expect it to last longer than the nearly two years already as its brighter than it ever was. If anyone else reads this you can replace the battery even though it’s supposed to be sealed.

Thanks for that information. I wondered whether the battery could be replaced but put it back in my mind as my controller is still functional. That's good to know though 👍

So great to learn about my local area. Why was the chimney capped?
@DavidWilsonOutandAbout
@DavidWilsonOutandAbout 7 күн бұрын
Thank you, glad you enjoyed this short video. It was probably capped to prevent water from entering the chimney, which can lead to significant structural damage. Also, capping chimneys keeps out debris like leaves and twigs, and it deters animals from nesting inside the chimney 👍

Hi David..Love your Channel. Did you ever do any follow up vids on the SWAREY Portable Power Station S500?...Can't find anything other than the original?...thanks

@DavidWilsonOutandAbout 16 күн бұрын
Hi, glad you are enjoying my content, and thanks for commenting. My power station has not really been used to its full potential as yet. I have mainly been using it to inflate and wash my kayaks, and to charge my camera and drone batteries while out on location. I am hoping to get more camping in this year, so hopefully the Swarey will see more action.

Long review videos are nice when you don't mind sitting a while to listen to a very thorough review,but for a lot of people,they don't want to hang around for long.This is just something to bare in mind for later.I appreciate the review though.I might not watch the whole thing.
@DavidWilsonOutandAbout

Thanks for the advice. I rarely post product reviews as my channel is predominantly outdoorsy. However, I occasionally post a thorough appraisal if I feel a product may be of use to others. When I am looking to buy a product, I spend considerable time researching the product before I commit to purchasing. Therefore, when producing a review video, I include all the information that I was looking for before hitting the "Buy Now" button. I hope you enjoyed the video and found it informative. Judging by this video analytics, over 75% of the 6.8K viewers (so far) watching the full video All the best, Dave 👍

Is your Hiqmar e-Fin motor still working ok? I’m thinking of buying one now. Cool angle shots with your 360 camera. Do you attach it using one of those 3 meter selfie sticks?
@DavidWilsonOutandAbout
@DavidWilsonOutandAbout 19 күн бұрын
Yes, the 3M carbon stick from Insta360. I only used the e-fin once last year as most of the year the rivers and canals were covered in weed which wraps itself around the propeller. I may get out for another kayaking trip with the e-fin next month. To be honest, the e-fin is not really suitable for flatwater kayaking due to the weed and debit build-up on many rivers and canals, it is best suited to lakes or coastal trips out.
@TheKayakCrew
@TheKayakCrew 19 күн бұрын
@@DavidWilsonOutandAbout Thanks David. Do you mind me asking how you attach the 3m stick to your kayak? I have a 109cm long selfie stick and even that's challenging to attach to the kayak. I have it mounted on a tripod and tether the tripod very securely with about 5-6 strong bungee cords. Thanks for the info re the Hiqmar eFin. Weeds and debris fouling the propellor grids does seem to be an issue with them. I probably would make most use of it on coastal and estuary routes as it happens, since it would enable me to do longer routes on the coast than I have been doing to date.

Velvet the chicken - marinade in egg white, cornflour and a pinch of baking powder, leave in the fridge for a couple of hours/overnight and then fry in neutral oil. Set aside. Sweat the onion in a little oil, until it's just translucent, set aside. Make up the sauce and bring to a boil. Mix everything together and set aside to cool overnight - there's absolutely no need for further cooking, either in a pan or in a slow cooker. Portion out, add a handful of frozen peas to each pot (reheating will cook them enough) and freeze. For more "takeaway" flavour, add a teaspoon of MSG to the onions as they are frying - the aim is to "brown it", to bring out the flavour, but be sure to add it to the onions when they're part cooked, rather than to the pan or it will burn.

Here’s my take on your method: - Roughly chop an onion, a bell pepper and some mushrooms. Set them aside. Divide chicken into bite sized pieces. Briskly stir fry these ingredients in a little oil in a large pan or wok at very high heat for a minute or two. A small dash each of water and soy sauce will help things along. Put everything in the slow cooker along with the Goldfish brand sauce, sufficient water and a handful of frozen peas for a few hours.

you dont have to worry about cross contamination if you are going to cook it, otherwise you would have o use different pots as well
@DavidWilsonOutandAbout
@DavidWilsonOutandAbout 28 күн бұрын
Thank you, but I prefer to use different chopping boards and utensils for various types of food, especially when preparing raw meat, poultry, or seafood alongside ready-to-eat foods like fruits and vegetables, to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety. Using the same board for raw meat and ready-to-eat foods can transfer bacteria from the raw meat to the other food, potentially causing illness. But, each to their own.
27 күн бұрын
@@DavidWilsonOutandAbout Good lad, big commercial professional kitchens use colour coded chopping boards to minimise the risk of cross contamination. I'm always telling people about that Goldfish stuff, I advise people to add it a little at a time to get the consistency exactly as you like it, that way it's pretty much fool-proof.

Thanks for the detailed video reviews and tests using the Hiqmar E-Fin. I'm looking to get a kayak motor shortly, are you still using the Hiqmar and if so then are you still generally pleased with it? There do not seem to be that many alternatives out there and video reviews of the Hiqmar generally seem positive although some have had issues with it. It seems to have a 2 year warranty and the seller (Bill Higham Marine) seems to provide good service so I may pull the trigger on one. I was looking at another one which is more powerful but about £300 more. How are your knees btw? Meniscus tears are a pain. Cheers
