A waste of a morning, and many hours of research and voiceover work. National Trust volunteers told me that no filming was allowed in the house at Knole, and the condescending matter in which the NT volunteer spoke to me in the courtyard made me want to leave the grounds immediately. I can understand why flash photography is not allowed, but what harm can I (or anyone) cause using a small handheld video camera. If anything, my video would promote the property and estate 😤 Knole is NT, and NT's policy states you can film with small handheld cameras for non-commercial use, however, it is at the individual property's discretion. Chartwell NT has their photography/ filming policy on their page, Knole does not. Couple this with the fact that you have to pre-book and pay for your visit online means you do not find out you cannot video inside the property until you enter the house!
I had read several bad reviews in regard to the volunteer's altitude at Knole, and now I have witnessed it first hand.
