#2 Tommy Thayer - Movie Star & Black N Blue. #3 Mark Saint John - White Tiger #4 Vinnie Vincent - Vinnie Vincent Invasion. #5 Bruce Krulak - Grand Funk Railroad just doesn't suit KISS style.

No offense but your list sucks. You changed the criteria from player to player. At first, you were going by who contributed the most, then who was the most fluid player, then the most technically proficient, then who was the best fit stylistically. Technically, Vinnie Vincent and Mark St.John would be at the top of the list. The Most fluid player could be any of the players except Ace (he's always been sloppy-ish). Best fit stylistically, would be Ace then Tommy Thayer. Over all, I would pick Ace. Without him, there would be no Kiss as we know it today.

Saw Zep In 73, 75, and 77. Saw the Page plant tour. Saw the Page Outrider tour. Page is a better gutarist of course. But to pick on the 4 guitarrists playing is nuts. They dont crowd each other with a rhythm and two distinct leads. The 4th slide guy barely plays unless it calls for it. There are better cuts of all three of these songs too.

Nice video. I saw Peter once and Singer twice and I thought Eric stole the show both times. Eric Carr was a thunderous drummer and was a beast on the Unmasked tour if you care to look at the concert Sydney 1980. Us Australians consider him to be the true Kiss drummer.

1st kiss concert, rossevelt stadium nj 1976. last show , everett wa 2011. There were alot of in betweens. Kiss at their best is a live act. All the shows with Ace are better than non-Ace shows. So my choice is Ace. Drunk or noyt Ace represents the true Kiss spirit better than anyone. Let face it, no one goes to see Kiss for virtuoso instrimentation. Its the raw energy and specticle. Ace rules1

Something I just thought of. If Dream Theater actually did go on extended hiatus when Portnoy wanted, would Labries live vocals be in a different place right now? Good video personally I love that Portnoy is back. I saw them twice with Portnoy and will happily see them a third time.

Portnoy is such a vital cog in the DT machine - he was and is the soul of the band, so it was never just a case of changing drummers - the Mangini albums are fine, but there's just something missing from the process. And I still think they should have taken on board what Portnoy said before leaving, as I think they were creatively burnt out, even if they didn't realise it at the time. Whilst I enjoy parts of the Mangini era, it just felt less special and more DT-by-numbers at times. I hope this reunion helps to recharge the batteries of the band for the latter stage of their career.

Kiss wouldn’t have been with out ace but Bruce is by far the best guitarist. He can do it all but knew when and how to do it for the songs. I guess he was a better musician than the others. As a teen I hated him because he wasn’t ace or Vinny but with age I see his genius

I have to say that your post has been one of the better ones on this subject. I will say from the start, I'm disappointed in this decision. Now, if Mangini comes out and says down the road that this was his decision, then I'm good. But, I have the feeling that's not what happened. I think he was straight up fired to bring the buddy back. That's some bad shit. I haven't ever bought or listened to a Portnoy-era recording and thought wow, this is some excellent songwriting. That's a lame point. I like what you said. Portnoy can not, or should never, reproduce Mangini' s compositions. I have no desire to hear Portnoy try to do that. Hopefully, you're correct in that they should put those tracks to rest. Let Mangini's work stand as they are and be done. I think they took a major step backwards and here we go, again. Portnoy left. Why bring him back. I have to think that Manginis years will not be easily forgotten and they will be missed. Just on a last note: the Grammy years are all during the Mangini years. Not just the win but the other nominations, as well. He made these guys better. That was their best lineup. That's a fact. Excellent video but we can agree to disagree. Hope your channel is successful. Have a good holiday season.

I appreciate your sentiment, because yes, he was definitely fired (in the "nicest way possible" though if that is even a thing). Nevertheless, I think suggesting putting the whole Mangini catalogue to rest is extremist tbh; is there ANY OTHER band with a member leaving/another one coming back that you would request the same from?
@bcdt1947
@bcdt1947 11 ай бұрын
@@MrDick-kz8qc absolutely. He has no business trying to replicate Mangini's work. And I have respect for both of them. I'm just not impressed with the decision. Just an opinion. I'm sure many will disagree and I'm sure many won't.

"to bring the buddy back" let me ask you this, do you see being in a band together should be a professional relationship like a job, or one relationship based on comradery and friendship? Because that's how this band started.

All three were very good and each suited to the time in which they played. The first to do it always deserves credit for inventing things the others built on. Peter will always be Kiss' drummer to me and the other two are very capable replacements. Eric Singer has the best voice, but I'd rather hear Peter do Beth. All three did a good job on Black Diamond.

Ace, Gene, Paul, Peter but they were all pretty bad. They should have taken the best of each and made one decent Kiss album that would have cost us a quarter as much to buy.
