Thank you - I haven't bought anything luxury for so long since it's been a crazy couple of years with caring for my parents and renovating a new house. This was always just a fun things to think about and buy - not important in the scheme of life. :-).

Hi Maggie! I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I recommend that you only shop at your “home” store and remain loyal to one Sales Specialist. One of my friends is a Sales Specialist at Hermès so he helps me out to an extent. You must invest (spend) in the brand (Hermès) to get offered a Birkin bag. Please don’t give up if you really want a Birkin bag and have the means to continue shopping. It’s not impossible to receive an offer. Unfortunately, the Hermès journey can be competitive. A relationship with your Sales Specialist is important. Despite the challenges, I always recommend the retail experience versus the reseller route. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your advice! It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to buy a non-quota bag to commemorate my anniversary and travel abroad. I've bought items at my local store and my SA have mentioned multiple times that she's thinking of my wishlist quota bags and to be patient. I've had great relationship with my local SA for almost 5 years. Although, I haven't gone into the store in about a year now. As much as I'd love a Birkin 25 in Togo Etoupe, at the end of the day, it's a bag and won't stress or get upset because she's not able to offer one for me to buy. I wish there was a more transparent process to buy at Hermès - i.e. put my name on a list and wait my turn. Again, I appreciate your comment! ❤

I feel like one should be able to get a non-quota bag abroad, it's not like you were demanding a quota bag! by the way the first sales associate was rude! i'm glad you stood your ground! I would have done the same in your situation by calling him out. I just recently started a relationship with my SA at home store. We'll see how it goes, as'm only going to buy things that I love. i just wish the system was like the UK in where we submit a wishlist and wait our turn, as opposed to "prespend".

I got the small size clash necklace and I love it. But it does kind of go skew occasionally when I wear it. I just adjust the necklace when I notice that it a little crooked. It’s a great style! ❤

My understanding is that they won't offer you the bag, even if it was being rejected by the first couple, because they probably had more customers on their list that they were going to offer it to. I just went into the Hermes in Costa Mesa (not my home boutique) and asked if they had any bags, just to see if I could get lucky. I got the same answer: Oh, we sold out of everything; we had a shipment yesterday and everything sold out; we never know when we're going to get a shipment, etc, etc. They're lies. They wouldn't sell me a bag because they don't know me and I don't have a relationship with any of their SAs. I'm sure they were selling bags to other customers there. That's just the nature of the game. The SA said he could sell me a wallet or a Rodeo. That was all they were willing to sell me. So I came back to my home boutique and bought some fine jewelry from my SA and updated my wish list with her. Hopefully she'll be able to get me a bag soon.

Great experiment! Love it! I hope you get a quota bag of your dreams soon too! I just don't like that there seems to be an unwritten rule to buy other things in order to buy what we really want to buy. But, I keep playing "my game", and I'm sure I'll continue to fail to buy a quota bag from the store. That said, I don't really care. Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled to be offered one of these bags just because how hard they're to get, but I'm not holding my breath. At this point, it's kind of a running joke with my husband and me to see if they'll ever offer me one of these bags when I ask for them at the store. At the end of the day, they're just things, and I'm having a great time just trying to see if it'll happen. 😂 Thanks so much for sharing your story! 😘

Hermes love that they are a exclusive brand, where as Channel have cheapened their brand over the last 30 years with over branding the name on everything. That being said, the snobbery associated with the Hermes brand is made worse because of its association with celebrities and it is also very French Parisian attitude. Some companies disappear up their bottom and believe their own hype, this spreads to the sales associates who work for these brands. I experienced this with Channel, at their makeup counter in the Debenhams department store in London. Every time I asked a question about a specific foundation or and face cream, the sales consultant looked down her nose at me, sighed and then in a bored tone gave a very vague outline about the products. I was fuming, when she rudely said, "So do you want them or not?" I decided to go to Harrods instead and spoke to a lovely Channel counter assist who was more friendly and open, she asked if I would like my make-up done with the products so I got a better idea what my skin would look like. In the end I bought 4 products from the Channel make - up range. When I got home I fired off a stinky email to Channel about the horrible sales consultant. As you found out, it all depends on the store and the people working there.

You’re absolutely right. I’m not playing the game - but it’s interesting to ask everywhere I travel - it’s always been ‘no’ except once in Hawaii for for my bolide 27 (during the end of the pandemic), but it’s been interesting - this is the first time that I really wanted to come back home with an Hermes bag (non-quota, since I know that quota bag is impossible as a tourist), so I pushed more than I would have. Also, this is the first time that I saw someone reject a bag and I thought I would have a chance of buying it. But when they offered me an undesirable bag after saying they had nothing, I walked away without buying anything from that store. It’s definitely a silly game, but their marketing has worked so far. That said, I wonder if the tide is turning…. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😘
