@4WD Supacentre - The victron mppt doesn't start charging until the panel produces Vbat+5. My 100W panel never gets above 16.5V. which means it doesn't charge until the battery is more than half empty. Is it just my noname panel that outputs such a low voltage?
@4wdsupacentreAu2 күн бұрын
Hi there, It doesn't sound like the panel outputting low watts would be the problem as your regulator should be able to put some power through to the battery even at low amps - I would suggest looking at the regulator and checking it is set to the right charging profile for the battery type you have. EG if you have a lithium and it is set to AGM charging profile it won't start charging until a lower voltage is reached. If all of that is set correctly you may have to check in with Victron with some more product specific trouble shooting. Regards, Courtney

Why you don’t use fuse between batteries and isolator ?

What about connecting the DC to DC charger to the second battery in the vehicle. Anyone with basic wiring skills can run a wire from main battery to a charger. This video is only half complete. What about how to connect the charger to the additional battery and still have everything else work of the second battery?

I'm using 2x138 a/h in parallel for a small fridge and a medium sized freezer. The batteries are showing 12.9 when charged and 12.4 in the morning so on the cloudy days I'm struggling to get them up to scratch to cover the night time usage. What size lithium ion battery would replace these AGM 's and what sort of time could I go between charges to compensate for the clouds or rainy days? Thanks.
@4wdsupacentreAu10 күн бұрын
Hi there, While we would advise on using Lithium Iron, such as the ones in our range. You would be pretty comfortable suited even with 120AH lithiums to replace them as they have more than half again the functional capacity of the 138ah AGMs so you'd see triple the coverage baseline. Regards, Andrew

Nice! As a wheelin' "noob" here in the (Southwest) States, I'm trying to get the proper gear together. I just bought a new 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 ("Zed Ah Too" for my Aussie Mates! LOL) and found airing down with a gage a TOTAL pain, airing up with my new compressor was easier. So, I bought the Staun deflators. And since I'm more an "overlanding" guy rather than a mudder or serious rock crawler, I've decided on 28 PSI so I can run at the higher speeds the ZR2 is also good at. Thanks for the vid, this stuff really helps us noobs!

In the first scenario that tree off to the side taking the end of the winch rope will have an effect on the direction of the pull, because there will still be tension in the line to that tree. You’ve also lost some mechanical advantage by not having all lines in the same direction. In that example because the first tree is so big, to get separation of lines you could have the second anchor slightly higher up the tree. Nothing wrong with how you did it though just clarifying that the direction of pull will be somewhere in between the two anchor points, which can be used for advantage in some situations.
