Awesome video. Was probably filmed in the mid 80s. 4R at Newark used to be about 8000' back then, and only ~ 7000' actual landing distance. 4L wasn't much longer around 8800'. Neither used to intersect Runway 11 which was 7000' at that time and later shortened to 6800' with a 200' mini displaced threshold on the turnpike end to move the TD zone a little bit further down and provide more clearance for the lighting pole obstacles on the turnpike.

What the f*ck do you mean, "nice work"???? The idiot veered off the runway and almost flipped over. Please don't patronize stupid people; this does help their condition.

This beautiful plane should never have been scrapped, only one ever crashed and that sealed its fate, take the number of other planes that have crashed over the years and several of them have had more than one accident yet we're still allowed to continue to fly. It's safety record was brilliant for such an advanced plane, there must have been something political in the decision to scrap this super bird because Virgin boss Branson wanted to buy them but it was denied, I think pressure from BA was the reason for this decision because they said they never made a profit from Concorde and did not want Branson to prove them wrong after loosing a legal battle with Virgin for wrong doing.

A fairly tight landing due to the runway length. I'm glad they touched down when they did! Another few seconds and it would have been interesting!

on takeoff he had flaps out and mixture should be full rich
@saulpilot
@saulpilot 8 жыл бұрын
You wrong, if You see on takeoff the flaps are on 10°, and if You see the Airport elevation are 8100 feet over sea level, the mixture must be lean over 3000 fts. over sea level in piston Aircraft.

I rode in this during a JATO shoot while I was an avionics tech in Yuma, around 06'. There's some kind of clear bubble in the top I got to look out of when they shot the rockets. I was perched up in the air, not strapped in or anything, just a couple of handholds. Man I was in the Marines for 5 years and did and saw some crazy things, but that few seconds was the scariest.
