Beautiful pieces Maggie. Absolutely love Narcissus and Leda. Clever person you are.

Hi Maggie, this new series of paintings are very exciting. I do feel you've tapped into a source of inspiration that suits your style. Your work has always contained a strong narrative element and these Greek myths are the perfect vehicle for your storytelling through paint. Working in isolation has it's advantages as well as the obvious drawbacks. Working alone you are free to follow your own instincts, free from unwelcome intrusion. The trick is to have the confidence and faith in your abilities and to work with a 'deaf eye' to any criticism that may be going on in your head as to the reception your new work will receive when viewed by the public at any forthcoming exhibition. If you find merit in your work and are excited by it then others will, too. Its a leap into the dark ever time we produce any new type of work but if we stop asking questions and keep turning out the same material to satisfy our known audience then we may as well give up. Art unquestioned is art in atrophy.

First saw this brilliant man in 1973 when he played in a group called Taffy Thomas Magic Lantern. Have only just learned of his passing. Sleep well Bill, in the arms of John O'Dreams. Proud to be from the same town as you.

So sad to learn that Bill has died - we've lost a delightful and oh-so-competent composer, singer, writer, tale teller, player, poet, joker and best-beer drinker. Lost a good man.

Bill's fairly local to me, as I live in the English West Midlands, but I've yet to see him perform live. All the same, he's a very talented man indeed.

Great video, thanks for sharing! Just to clarify though, the first song on here is his cover of "I'm On Fire", I think the second song at @2:56 is "Let You In", and the third that starts at @4:04 is "Devil's Bride" =).

Thanks Doug - but listen again - the actual words "Fool for You" appear in the first 40 seconds - that's a relief : I think I have it right then.

This year the candles went out for Mick Billington and dear Dave Cartwright, the other two guys that ran the Royal Oak Folk Club in Halesowen, where Bill crafted many of his songs. It sad, we all have to let go but Bill's work will and does live on in new generations of great performers. Bill has done some much, so quietly and still does. All those years with Magic Lantern woth Taffy and Tim and Carrots His wonderful Edwardian song cycle, Sonny Memories. The writing of Jack Judges long way to Tiperary - yu carnt write a sung in a day! The wonderful Pity me poor pig condemed to die for butchering a beggars baby - go out there and find them all

This is one of the best songs ever written. Thanks for finally giving us the real version. Even though some other musicians are doing a good job with this song, it just isn't the same as Bill's.

Bottleneck slide -- ethereal. I must be dreaming. Thank you again for creating this beautiful song -- evocative lyrics, beautiful music. And what a transition at 3:32. You sure get down on that. And then, at 4:42, a capella transition. Thank you for sharing a portion of your cornucopia of fine music!
