Great idea but I dont understand the midi notes on the midi clip are suposed to represent what drum instruments? The hi hat? or do we could bars and assume that the 2 and 4 are snares?

this is the best video i have seen sound-wise. gorgeous sounds. i am trying to use this as an effect and i want to do filter sweeps, but i want to limit the partials to partials of the harmonic series for a root note... so when i sweep the filter its not the whole range just the harmonic series. i am mucking around but with little success 😅 if anyone has an idea.

How would i Do this to a kick drum?
@KermodeMusicАй бұрын
You would create the low end of your drum using this technique, and then likely layer noise or other samples high end/transient to create powerful drum

Is there a way to make my voice sound deeper, but without having to record it at a higher pitch and then pitch it down? I don’t want it so deep that I sound like a man, but my voice is naturally very high pitched and I don’t like that I sound like a child
@KermodeMusicАй бұрын
Look into formant shifters such as little alter boy. You can also pitch your vocal down, and use complex pro warping mode and play with the formant as well :)

It might not make a huge difference, but you should get a better result from that "Bloom vs Bloom" sidechain technique by bouncing the tracks and switching the sidechain "pre/post" to Pre, so that it's truly A-B on one track and B-A on the other. With your example where both are in Post, I think you're getting A-(A-B) and B-(B-A) which might logically even out in total if we were just talking about gain but of course that's not all Bloom is doing. Also, in practice it changes what each of them are individually (and then you've got the changes because of the extra processing).
@KermodeMusic2 ай бұрын
True :)! I prefer it in post because the change from one bloom impacts the others input response, and to me the effect is more of what I desire while mixing. Just personal though :) I'll try your suggestion either way :)!

Is there an inbuilt distortion in Ableton 11 that comes close? Or is it plug-ins for poor 'ol V11 users like myself..?
@KermodeMusic2 ай бұрын
You could achieve something in the ballpark with multi band splitting (or mid/side etc...) and then distorting each band differently with Ableton's other devices. Then the other aspects could be emulated externally, filtering, delay with feedback etc... Would just be a bunch of seperate devices and modulators, but going custom and saving as a rack could be more fun/personal anyways :)

Wow thanks dude! Kinda just put that question into the ether and at best hoped for a fellow subscriber to give a suggestion, not the man himself! But seriously, that was super useful man so thank you.. And it's kiiind of reassuring as ive been trying kiiinda similar stuff (ie splitting into bands and processing them separately/differently. You are the self doubting, confidence building producer's dream dude/channel man... Been producing on and off since college (im 35 now..) and not being able to create the music i wanted to the quality I wanted really affect my life (as music has always been a big part - playing in bands etc) So yeah... Like I mightbhave said previously - I have NEVER commented on anything on youtube... but you've changed my music (and by extension - life)... so just wanted you to know that fact in the least corny way I could man! Hope your world is treating you well well dude. Insane levels of thanks again man! PLEASE keep doing what you're doing!! Big love - Joon @KermodeMusic

very cool ideas. Were you able to find a way to import the ideas into a DAW? I'm messing around in ableton. I think it could be very cool to write basic music for background on videos using this method. You could obviously make it better and better, but having a starting point would be very cool.
