My grandfather was in a high church and the vicar said that his name was "Father" . My grandfather said to him "I have one heavenly Father and an earthly father and that is quite enough". I rather like the Russian Batushka - Little Father and the wife is a Matushka. This seems less pretentious to me.

7:00 Jesuits are not suppose to be popes. How convenient that the Jesuits and the RC liberals forgot this rule or custom because they wanted to bring Francis into the papacy and further the corruption. He certainly had done a good job at corruption. He has suppressed the Latin mass and promoted liturgical nonsense. It is all too much. No wonder people are leaving the RC church. These are people who would have been the best of RCs, but they have been driven out....Either to the SSPX or other groups.

11:50 Who is the spooky guy in the background? I do not like this art. I cannot see why people would come to see it.

3:00 Did not St. Thomas actually teach against the immaculate conception? I believe that is one of the biggest embarrassments to RCs today as their number one theologian was actually against the concept of the conception. It was the Franciscans who promoted it, not the Dominicans and eventually the Franciscans got the pope's hear and the idea was proclaimed as a doctrine. I have even heard that the Jesuits had a catechism when they first got back to England that said that the immaculate conception was not a RC concept (it was a way of appealing to the English in the search for new converts) , but when the doctrine was proclaimed, they had to round up all these catechism and burn them in a secret location somewhere in the north. I know that some will say that this is all a legend, but just check out what St. Thomas Aquinas actually says about it. You will be surprised and it is a bit dishonest of Fr. Robinson to pretend otherwise. Typical Jesuit!

Do the two tabs of the rector's cassock signify? Is he low church, broad church or high church? Or possibly it is a military thing?

Can one be a carpenter and a joiner? I think that my grandfather was. My great-grandfather (his father-in-law) was a master stair builder and he considered himself the tops.

As a "Yank" citizen I'm always impressed and sometimes surprised by the Catholicity of even historically broad or even low-church C of E parishes. The vicar here has reference to pilgrimage to Santiago and shell symbols. I suspect that pre-Oxford movement bishops and parishioners would have been less than thrilled by all that.
@zaydmia50973 сағат бұрын
I certainly wouldn't describe St. James Garlickhythe as low or broad church. It's closer to the "Old High Church" or what is called "high and dry". Very few parishes like that nowadays.

What a wonderful engineering and craftsmanship. I myself have a few mechanical wrist watches and often times I like to look at the mechanism through glass at the back. Thank you for making this.

Hypnotic, isn't it. The advantage of a church clock is it's easier to see the mechanism (that doesn't mean I made it easy, clearly).

Lovely project but one small correction as Punjab is now not smaller but it certainly was divided between Muslims Punjabi’s and Hindu/Sikh Punjabi’s populations. As, most Punjabi’s are Muslims therefore their side of Punjab is much larger. So, the choices made by community leaders and their British Raj overlords in 1940’s still has echos today sadly.

Channel Master forgive a second post, but I just saw a video of His Majesty, the King visiting recently. The Cardinal was there to greet him, as was the pastor. I'm sure it wasn't the Victorian excessive decoration, or even the modernist stunning depiction of the last supper by an Anglican artist, which prompted the Royal visit. It was the works of charity, mercy and Christian assistance documented in YOUR report. Good job channel master. Jesus will not ask us, what encrusted with decoration church building you went to, but what did you do for the least of my brethren? Just for the record, a decent amount of beauty and art is welcome, and the choice is not between Victorian excess and a plain box. There are wonderful middle grounds.
