I have given up looking at physio videos. I have pain in outer left hip when walking up stairs, also pain in hips and lower back after sitting. I followed a few exercises for lower back, hip bursitis etc, which included clams and side raises now to be told they are not a good idea. Even walking is not any good, it makes you wonder exactly what is good, nothing it would seem. Hard to believe professionals can be so contradictory
@JudithConnett4 ай бұрын
Shame she did not show a couple of good exercises. I have been performing a few clams which she also mentioned plus side raises which I thought would help so am confused now. Strange when even professionals are contradictory, it makes me wonder who I can trust.

😯😬😣😫doing that right there makes the bottom of my foot have the same feeling as when you sit and tear the bottom of too-tight pants. I try to keep my feet as flat as possible, stay off the balls of my feet, and not have anything touch the soles and outer edges of my feet as often and as long as possible. Just looking at that makes me want to pull my feet up into my chair yoga style 🧘♂️😂I hate having my running socks on let alone doing calf raises now. Crossing my fingers that I’ll get back to that exercise soon… 😬😅eventually.

It might be that this exercise is not suitable for you and I always advise seeking individual health care assessment as you may not have plantar fasciitis- hope that helps

@SynergyPhysio10 ай бұрын
The top of the crutch can be lower than the elbow as there is not alot of pressure there anyway, as long as the hand grip is in the right place- hope that helps :)

Dr .playing safe game. Many drs .do such exercises personally. But she is telling the theory.
@SynergyPhysio Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comments! If you do not have bursitis or gluteal tendinopathy this exercise is perfectly safe and fine to do. However, if you have greater trochanteric pain syndrome, trochanteric bursitis or gluteal tendinopathy this exercise can make your pain significantly worse. It won't hurt at the time but will be painful afterwards, there are many other exercises that work very well, just this is not one of them :)- have a great day.

If professionals provide conflicting information, who is the patient to believe????
@NikyHamilton Жыл бұрын
Yes I totally understand that. I have been working with hip pain for over 20 years and understand how much conflicting info can be out there. In my experience 90%+ of my patients who try this exercise end up feeling worse. The principal is correct- you need to strengthen your hip. But this particular exercise places excessive compressive load on the tendon leaving patients feeling worse and resulting in no progression. There are far better exercises out there. If in doubt- I suggest try for yourself and monitor your own symptoms. Seeking individual assessment is always recommended!

My therapist recommended those exercises which I performed diligently in therapy and at home. I listened to my body and discovered that the pain was worse, so I stopped doing the exercises on my own.

Sometimes a day after doing yoga the bone that sticks out on the back of my neck a bit really hurts. How can I prevent that?
@SynergyPhysio2 жыл бұрын
HI Barbara! Its always best to seek individual health care advice. However lots of shoulder stands or plow poses can place additional load on that part of the neck. I can suggest minimising those poses and trying more chest opening or back bend related poses such as cobra or salabhasana. Hope that helps!

@SynergyPhysio2 жыл бұрын
I am so sorry to hear that. Yes all of the latest research shares that stretches do NOT help and you need a specific strength program to help restore tendon strength and health. We have some free examples on our youtube otherwise more info can be found here and I hope that helps you! synergyphysio.teachable.com/p/hip-pain-relief-bursitis

Err, I am not sure what to believe. This is the first video recommending NOT doing that figure 4 stretch, whereas there are dozens of other professionals that DO recommended it. E.g. Bob and Brad, in kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpKahZmsf7ShaKM. How does stretching your IT band not help with hip bursitis?
@SynergyPhysio2 жыл бұрын
HI Vlad! Often with trochanteric bursitis there is concurrent gluteal tendinopathy which is very often missed on ultrasound scan but can be picked up more readily on MRI. Gluteal tendinopathy is a weakened tendon attaching near the bursa and should not be stretched. More recent research does not support stretching at all in the presence of tendinopathy. Instead a strengthening program is recommended and all of the most up to date physio research has now moved toward using prescribed strength program in the presence of lateral hip pain. I hope this helps! Kind Regards Niky

Ok so no tripped at work on vacuum cord , bumped into wall. That was 8 days ago.. nothing fancy. But now I have this what you say. I’m doing maintenance , and cleaning in gov building. I didn’t say any thing coz I just bumped the wall. Thought nothing of it .. now I’m in so much pain. This exercise you talk about is painful. Basically can’t us the right arm at all atm. Could dry needling be done? I’m so concerned I will loose my job. When I can not afford that long walk.. help???
@SynergyPhysio3 жыл бұрын
Oh no I’m so sorry to hear that! It sounds like you might need to see a physio to get a individual diagnosis and management plan. However there is a difference between 1- reactive tendinopathy (which is more of an acute or sudden onset of tendon pain and often responds well to rest, change in activity and medication) 2- chronic tendinopathy - which is caused by many factors, one of which is people resting too long and then getting weak! That’s when a strength program helps. I suggest see your local health care practitioner to help assess you individually 👍 I hope that helps 🦋
