About the Rex, once you level up to the big guns, the .700 & the .50 Cal, you can take a Rex down pretty easily, provided you get clean shots. And those gunshots pierce the silence 👌

You can kill a Rex in 2 heart shots with just the compound bow, & it’s the easiest big carnivore in the game to kill since you can just dance around it while it tries to bite you! Nerfing the Rex wouldn’t really help in this game, it already loses to the giga & spino in fights by a mile. 😝

hey Saurian!! I hope you're doing good. great review, i had been eagerly waiting for it for quite a while!! I was very curious to hear your thoughts about the game because, unfortunately, i'm one of the very few people among longtime carnivores fans who just do not enjoy the game at all. I REALLY want to like it, i respect the heck out of the project and have put 20+ hours into it, but i find the gameplay to be so slow and hard that every time i just end up giving it another go for a few hours and then uninstalling it. Traversal, gunplay and the whole gameplay loop just feel so frustrating and unrewarding to me, and i know it's ultimately "my fault" for sucking at the game, but I personally think it badly needs 1) either a difficulty slider or the possibility to tweak dino health / weapon damage output and 2) some kind of vehicles, both things I don't think they'll ever consider adding since it is mostly a multyplayer-oriented game (and i only care about single player). Like I said i really want to like this game, but so far it just hasn't clicked with me gameplay-wise, at all.. And while most other things about PH are either very good or very promising, i'm kinda old school so gameplay is what i really care about. On a (very unnecessary) side note... have you ever heard anything again from digital dreams? I know it's basically a joke at this point but i've actually tried reaching out to them a couple of times this year through their website and have never received anything back. Which sucks. I know i gotta let it go but i'm still mad at how things went south for carnivores again.

What an incredible video, Saurian! As I said in the comment, the Carnivores community has a lot to contribute to Prehistoric Hunt. The developers have already done absolutely everything we ever wanted, we just need to polish it up and any help is welcome. I hope our Carnivores community really embraces Prehistoric Hunt, because it is the future of modeling. I believe that what is really missing is just a naturalistic look for this game to be perfect, the base is very well done, we can't complain about that. Once they perfect the artificial intelligence of the dinosaurs and their senses along with the animations, it will become completely majestic. Opening up the map design to be free was incredible, there are fans who are literally recreating the entire Nublar Island. I can't wait for multiplayer hunting together.

A fantastic overview for Prehistoric Hunt and a great in-depth dive to the details of the game and where it both succeeds and needs more polish. Prehistoric Hunt right now is a bit rougher on its edge and gameplay, but, the foundations there right now are pretty solid. I do hope we see a focus first on trying to enhance the gameplay more than new content being added as though new things are always fun to see and try out, the gameplay is what will make playing always more enticing and draw players back to it. If the weapons get their touches you have suggested too, the dinosaurs gain more idle behaviors and animations to make it not jogging to always catch up to them, and the impact of vital hits increases we could easily see Prehistoric Hunt getting closer and closer to the ideal modern dinosaur hunting game many are waiting and hoping for.

28:08 The Hunter Primal T. rex actually is actually an extremelly poor example of making shot placement unrewarding. If there are few things that make you feel better than getting the one perfect on a charging predator is having to do it twice (that's all it takes with any weapon, so long as you hit the heart both times). Some of my most chilling gaming experience are pulling that out, specially if a rex managed to sneak on me during a storm. Alternatively you can brute force them with lung shots with the 700 Nitro or .50, 5 or 6 six should to the trick and if you don't shoot it past that you still get 100% integrity. The Primal Queen however has no excuse, its basically a MP mob boss, but the game died quickly after that last (or second to last, idk?) update and you can only really solo here by using exploits.

It's nice to see another dinosaur Hunting game that shows potential and the 3 major biomes is a good idea as it add to it being a statuary. But I think Thalassodromeus should be an inland flyer that prey on small animals like its real life counterpart that acts as a glass Cannon, can dur modern damage but is very flimsy and can't take a hit. And for a t-rex redesign I think it should be based on saurian Tyrannosaurus or Fred the Dinosaurman 90s/Modern take on the Tyrannosaurus and for a variant could be a feathered Rex as a rare creature to hunt.

As one whom has streamed Prehistoric Hunt for years on my Twitch, I have likewise voiced many of the same suggestions and the like as you have listed in this video SaurianTarget. All in all, you have done a great job in this video breakdown of PH and in what quality of life improvements the devs of the game should implement are all very sound. Too many times on my own rex hunts, I barely get a clean one hit kill via heart strike with the .50 caliber rifle and just when I think I have it locked in, then I end up hitting something else unintended. One simple nerf I'd suggest for the rex is to just plain slow them down and match up their speed to the Gigas which are in my experience a bit easier to kill with clean shots. So just making rex and giga more or less on par speed wise when in a run would go somewhat a long way for balance in my book. For bleed out hits, totally agree that if any of the big three vitals are in the red zone or been hit multiple times, that bugger should just drop dead either instantly or within a few seconds to a minute. Double if it's punctured lungs as that can kill just as fast as a ruptured heart. There should also be physical effects of an animal gets hit in vital organs or in certain body parts. Lung hits could perhaps impact stamina depending on how badly damaged they get. Overall my guy, this is a video I could use to show to my friends whenever they mention things in need of tweaks/balancing improvements etc..

Great video on easily the best modern dinosaur hunting game I agree with the dinosaur models, the new ones are beautiful, and I can't wait for the updates to the rex and Brachio. Yeah, it's rough around the edges, but the devs love the game and actually listen to the community they actually want the game to succeed. There are so many features in Prehistoric Hunt that were implemented just because the devs listened to what we wanted. The devs even welcome help from the fans, me and some others have been helping them out with the dinosaur and weapon descriptions in game, so if there are any carnivores modders out there that would like to help with the game, please go right ahead. Prehistoric Hunt is the modern dinosaur hunting game we all wanted Dinosaur hunt to be, and I just love watching the game grow. It's come so far from where it once was, and it has all been done by just 2 real devs and help from the fans. The next update is going to be bringing some big improvements to the game new models, a new island, audio overall and engine improvements with ray tracing being brought up. The game has a discord server, so if anyone wants to join and help out with the game, all are welcome. Prehistoric Hunt also has a KZbin channel where you can check out the updates that are coming to the game, so please subscribe to that also to further help out the dev team.

Definitely agree on many/most of the points! I've got nearly 200 hrs of playtime logged. Been trying really hard to get a Diamond Thalassodromeus - a royal pain in the @$$ to try and get one still! And I just need a diamond Thalasso to get that Diamond score achievement! I've checked off the skin varieties for, and mostly need just 1 more rarest skin for a handful of species. Pretty much the only species I don't have any piebald, melanistic or albinos for are the Spinosaurus and Thalassos. I definitely want more naturalistic behaviors and variety in animations for the animals; ie pounce and claw attacks from the Utahraptors, or stomp and tail attacks from the Brachiosaurus and other sauropods they might add. I think they should have definitive male and female skins, and funny enough the "Rare" skins for Triceratops, Gallimimus and Pteranodon could work really well for male animals, and the "Rares" for Utahraptor, Compy and Pachy could work for female skins. I'm hoping that the T. rex we see on the loading screen will ultimately be the replacement model for the in game rex (or maybe something even better?). As for additional carnivore behaviors, aside from the carnivores no longer being "Terminators" that'll kill any & everything on sight, I'd like to see more interactions with their carcasses. Like having longer feeding animations that play until a carnivore's stomach is full, and it may wonder off. Also maybe give a carcass a food value percentage, which could also attract other carnivores into an area to scavenge from it. Like if you're hunting Compies, you could simply find a kill by another animal, hunker down and wait ( or use their call whistle to help bring them over). I'd love to see some brand new skins for Spinosaurus (especially sexual dimorphism) with actual display patterns on the sails themselves. As for carnivore (apex) confrontations, I think we could use some load bellowing that proceeds the physical confrontation, where maybe a smaller/weaker carnivore may actually back down rather than the two automatically charging in and trying to face tank one another. And absolutely the Brachy, Trike and Anky definitely need massive 'armor"/defense buffs against carnivore attacks, or the apexes should be nerfed themselves in their health and defense stats. And give the dangerous herbivores a chance to win battles. Carnotaurus should only be half its current size at the most. And I would like for Carno to have some more varieties in its pattern, than either the current base skin or the current "rare" skin. As for the base map, there is a slight biome different in that the southeastern region (east of the warehouse) is predominantly a giant sequoia forest, which is a nice break from the generic jungle that covers most of the map.
@SaurianTarget
@SaurianTarget 18 сағат бұрын
Really like your behavioral suggestions. The idea of carnivores having longer eating animations is a great one, especially if you could use downed dinosaurs as bait to lure in predators to take them out while they eat. Maybe predators could lie down to rest after they eat, which would give us time to set up a good shot?

In the game I'm planning to make (I'm currently learning game development) I want to do the same thing you said about biomes,an Arctic biome,a jungle biome and a dessert biome ( I may add more biomes since there are many animals I want to have in my game and I don't want the biomes to be too much populated ) The cold, snowy biome is the home to mostly Cenozoic animals like Elasmoterium, Cave Lions or daedons with a few exceptions like Yutyrannous, Pachyrehinosaurus and Atrociraptors The forest is mostly populated by Jurassic and Cretaceous animals for example: Spinosaurus (they live mostly near rivers), Dilophosaurus, Utahraptors, Trodons (they are pack hunters), T_Rex, Daspletosaurus, Iguanodons, Allamosaurus and Therizonosaurus The dessert sector is inhabited by animals like Tarbosaurus, Carnotaurus, Velociraptors, Dreadnoughtus or Torvosaurus but they are mostly Triassic or Permian animals like Inostrancevia, Prestosuchus, Erythrosuchus or Coelophysis There are animals living on the shores but unfortunately, I don't know many semi_aquatic prehistoric animals so I need to do research
