@@pokeetf thanks for that mate! , another question , you mean by people dont trust booster packs because of the pull rates or because they normally sell them not in a cardboard sleeve?
@pokeetf2 ай бұрын
No prob. Welcome the questions. People generally don’t like to buy loose packs because they might suspect the loose packs come from booster boxes where the hits were already made and revealed. For example, if I got a twilight masquerade booster box or case and the first pack I opened… I opened a greninja ex which is currently the most expensive card in the set and also the whole entire scarlet and violet era… that person would just stop and sell the packs. The probability of opening another greninja ex or another SIR is near zero since you already got the hit which is like 1 per 86 packs which is like 3 booster box.

@@pokeetf No sure if PSA has an API. But one way I thought about it, it is that given a PSA number for a given card, one can issue the request and and then parsed the population, for price data, I think Ebay has an API, but no sure. One of the new LLMs might be able to generate some of the code, Claude. What we need is a utility where you put in an Excel a list of PSA numbers, and it gets the information, and stores in a DB or just Excel, this will only no be helpful for the analysis you do, but to keep track of personal collections.

I believe anything you hold treasure or memorable should be graded. If it in terms of investing or potential returns, you have to make sure it will be a 10. A graded 9, you will be in the ‘red’. Do you manually input your data into a spreadsheet or do you have a program that automatically tracks and displays the prices?
@pokeetf4 ай бұрын
Hey! Hell no. Haha. Manually input hundreds of thousands of data? Even hundreds is not worth the headache or the time. I would give up lol. I extract the data automatically from Tcgplayer. Have it upload into my personal server. Do a lot of linkage to different custom files and sql codes in MS SQL. Then link that to my personal Tableau data visualization where I create automatic graphs and templates. Then export those into a presentation style format :) a lot of work to setup but once it’s all set up, it’s easy to manage and prepare and upload each video. Would you stock up on Serena full art cards from silver tempest? I have about 8 copies and would like to know based off of your expertise when would be best to liquidate as an investor. I know right now is a great time to buy singles from SWSH to capitalize them not printing later on, but looking at the graph Serena is a slow and steady decline, wondering if it will have a slow and steady incline later(healthy growth). Great video as always and have a great day!

Great comment. Yes! Serena is definitely top 10 undervalued and great spec and investing full art trainer right now. $12 for Serena is crazy good. Not financial advice! Do your own research. Hi! Curious to know why you think some of these cards might still be too high (ex. Iono #269 at $72). I don't own any of these cards but want to understand your thought process.
@pokeetf4 ай бұрын
Of course. Everything starts high. Iono SIR isn’t a surprise that it was the #1 Chase card of the set. A lot of times, the ‘waifu’ is the Chase like the Miriam SIR of SV base set or the Marnie of the SWSH base set or other similar sets. So it’s not surprising it is the #1. But even as #1, it will go down due to mass production of cards. It’s still too early as there are still many places evolved packs in distribution in supplemental products or even main products. Look at tcgplayer… there are still 100+ copies. Also there are so many copies available to purchase right now for $65… that tells me $72 is NOT going to hold and will have room to go down to at least $65. More supply > demand. Also it is $72 level because it is a playable card. If it was not a playable card I would say this would easily be a $30-40 card. Hope that helps :)

Chat GPT answered your question correctly. You failed to provide context for what information you wanted chat gpt to consider. From a thematic sense generation 9 is overwhelmingly represented the most in the Scarlet & Violet tcg. On a side note every set thus far released after Scarlet & Violet base is considered an expansion of the Scarlett & Violet base set which is why 151 is called Scarlett & Violet 151. The same is true for all other sets released since SV Base
@pokeetf5 ай бұрын
Honestly, I know what you mean. Trust me. I tried asking many variation of the question. Here is one of the ChatGPT answer. Basically it asked us to do the analysis and that it cannot make a definitive answer. Thus it answered not really incorrectly but it doesn’t or can’t answer… So I did the work and analysis to answer for chatGPT ;) but yes I agree… thematically yes it’s very SV. Many ways to interpret. To determine if Generation 1 Pokémon are the most represented in the Scarlet and Violet era, we would need to analyze the distribution of unique Pokémon name cards across all generations in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets released during this era. Here’s a general approach you can use to assess the representation: 1. Identify Relevant Sets: Look up the specific TCG sets released during the Scarlet and Violet era. 2. List Unique Pokémon Cards: Compile a list of unique Pokémon name cards for each set. 3. Categorize by Generation: Group these cards according to their respective generations (Gen 1, Gen 2, etc.). 4. Count the Cards: Count the number of unique name cards in each generation. 5. Compare Totals: Compare the counts to see which generation has the most unique name cards. Since I don’t have real-time access to databases or the latest card lists, I’ll provide a high-level guide on how you can gather and analyze this data: 1. Visit Official Pokémon TCG Resources: Use the Pokémon TCG official website, PokéBeach, or other reliable TCG databases to find card lists for Scarlet and Violet era sets. 2. Extract Data: Note down each unique Pokémon name from these sets. 3. Categorize and Count: Create a spreadsheet to categorize each Pokémon by its generation and tally the counts. Based on historical trends, Generation 1 Pokémon often receive significant representation due to their nostalgic value, but only a detailed review of the specific sets from the Scarlet and Violet era will provide a definitive answer.

Great analysis. Typically with new releases do you buy singles when you find them at best timing to buy? Or do you buy products to open? if so which products do you prefer?
@pokeetf5 ай бұрын
I have kept track of set releases and prices crashing since SM era. 6 years at least? It’s all the same story. Yes you will have some singles exception. But most all crash the first 3 months. Then stabilizes up and down the next 6 months. The best time to buy singles is when the set is right about to rotate. Maybe like 3 months before it rotates. You don’t want it but it after it rotates or else it may be too late. When it rotates out is usually when packs and products for that set dwindles and no longer be massively available thus hamper down the available supply. Then it’s really just sloward natural demand from there as time go by. I am also a sealed collector and investor so I do buy the bread and butter booster boxes and cases for collecting, investing and hopefully get to enjoy ripping them with my kids later on. I don’t really buy other sealed unless it’s really marked down. Hope that helps. But at the end of day, it’s to have fun and enjoy. Not a sin to once awhile splurge and have fun ripping packs to get that dopamine ;)
@JovanLagrotta5 ай бұрын
@@pokeetf Thank you for the reply, for instance of your rotation example, lets say for Twilight Masquerade - would you buy 3 months before the next set comes out for singles? I'm Just making sure I understand what you're saying correctly. and thanks for the insight.
@pokeetf5 ай бұрын
There’s a couple things to know. First, rotation happens every April. Every Pokemon cards have a letter on the bottom left. In these cases, twilight masquerade cards have the letter H. Right now rotation is F, G and H. So… April 2025, cards with F will rotate out. April 2026, cards with G will rotate out. Then April 2027, those twilight masquerade cards will rotate out. So there’s a 3 year window where the pokemon company can potential keep busting out new products that contain twilight masquerade cards. Thus 3 years of potential new supplies of cards. Thus why I think it’s crazy to buy cards now because I am pretty certain all of these prices will go down in a year or so. My experience buy at least in 2026-2027. But because people or collectors can’t wait that long, people want the cards now! So I won’t blame them. I can wait. Right now you should be picking up cards that have the F letter because they will rotate out. Those would be in the sword and shield era astral radiance lost origin and silver tempest etc.
