If you're Chicano/Chicana, you'd understand the part, "How about become a citizen?" We're Mexicans in the U.S. and Pochos in Mexico. We're not wanted in either country. We're a race on our own. And it don't matter how successful you are. Sad but true. The saddest and lowest part of this is when our own kind is racist towards you. A very powerful scene in this part of the movie.

I had a friend in Nursing School that was Mexican/American. She spoke of her pride in being Mexican, but disparaged the Latinas in Sororities as stupid, working class immigrants as 'dumb choonts", and cholas as "barrio trash". She told her friend, in front of me one day, she was glad her mother did not give her a "chooty name like Guadalupe. When I lived in Southern California, I heard Mexicans refer to Blacks as a "bunch of pinche mayates". The idea of racism is one that all groups have to deal with, and deal with what is in their own group first.

You're right. But my comment over all about this scene is not about drugs or a dealer. It's about someone being a true speaker in someone else's life. Not seeing things for what they really are until someone else says it. That's all. But thanks for the comment.
