I’m a fairly young MM in England. I completely agree about the lack of philosophy and esotericism in meetings (that’s why I joined). Me and the younger brethren (one being my WM) feel the same as they already do their own studies. Now that I’m firmly embedded in the craft, I finally got time to study the ritual and symbolism. Now I’m enjoying so much more now that I’m doing my own study coupled with attending meetings/ceremonies. Me and the younger brethren will eventually found a lodge with more focus on philosophy, esotericism and education (while still sticking to the main tenets of FM). There’s actually a promising side order which isn’t so well known that’s more about education/philosophy/esotericism called the SRIA which I’ll look at. Blue lodges meanwhile need to take heed of why people leave (never mind a bums on seats campaign if they’re going to leave due to boredom and paying money for it). I myself love it, but these things need to be considered.

Hey mate, I’ve not even become a mason, I’ve only attended a few Masonic charity events & lodge Committee meetings. I have already decided freemasonry isn’t for me, in the lodge that I’ve been invited into everyone is over the age of 55 & the calibre of individuals that I have met seem extremely low, for an organisation that markets itself on creating better men it seems odd to see so many of these men inter-bickering…. and tend to be in low level career paths struggling to get through life. Very odd but certainly not for me.
@ohfreemason7 ай бұрын
Certainly bickering and such shouldn't be happening, but where someone is in their career has nothing to do with whether or not they are worthy to become a Mason or not. In many cases, the types you are describing greatly benefit from networking with brothers and may be presented with better opportunities. It's not very polite to judge people by assuming they are "extremely low caliber" it's quite demeaning. If these are your thoughts then you are right, it is not for you.

Greetings, Brother Andrew Biggins. I am a Master Mason and plural member of three Lodges of the state of Indiana in the United States. Colfax #378 Prarie #125 Porter #137 For which I am also the recipient of the Royal Arch, Cryptic, Malta, and Knights Templar Degrees. And I have to say to you, fellow Companion, is that for which you have been through in your Lodges inability to answer your questions, and the Brethrens lack of information regarding such questions in sad. I am unfamiliar with UGLE and the operations of the chartered Lodges in the UK, but I thought they would all have more proficient Past Masters who were knowledgeable. That and at least for the Lodges there to have books readily available inside the Lodge on bookshelves that you could read inside. Because that is how it is here in the states. Well at least in my three Lodges, and to all the other Lodges I have traveled to over the years. They all have excellent Past Masters who talk to you about any questions you have, or any guide points they can give you. Plus, if they do not know, and the others don't know the answers, they will point you to the books or study guides or notes inside the Lodge. Or at times, certain things are framed on the walls of the den or vestibule, or entrance, or dinning hall or hallways. So when you had questions, did you reach out to your mentor or study guide that was assigned to you per each Degree? Or were you not assigned one? That and when asking questions to fellow Brothers, were they also seeking the same answers as well, but had also never been informed? And were there any books inside your Lodge that you were aware of? Once again I'm sorry you were kinda left in the dark, Brother. It is a shame that we lost a good member in you leaving. If you would like to talk further, DM me. I will gladly help out in anyway possible. Take care, Companion. I wish you the best.

I am not a Freemason, yet, but I plan to. But from what I understand so far from already reading a lot on the subject, is that it seems the actual point of a symbolic and ceremonial mystery group is that there are mysteries that cannot be communicated in simple words and paragraphs, but require intense conscious attention to the experience and practice. If they are honest, it is not that anybody is restricting a hidden essay from you, which would confer the same understanding as the ritual and participation in the group. No, therein you are surrounded by ideas, spirits, signs and symbols which holistically affect your consciousness to the degree that you get involved and seek understanding. You probably should read more, and I’m sure you have by now, but the understanding intended is something more comprehensive, holistic, and embodied, and not something purely heady.

Brother, Hope you are well. Been listening to your videos for a while and think we could share some thoughts. I have had many a times asked myself the same questions and feel at times found simple answers; sometimes more questions masquerading as answers and sometimes answers that in reality are call to action and without those actions the words are meaningless. Questions that are apparently totally philosophical in nature, just like you mentioned chicken and egg question, or if “the all there is”, is called “The Universe’ and it is said to be expanding then what is The Universe expanding into? Also, if I am a sinner and God made me the way i am then why will/should i burn in hell? It wasn’t my fault that I was made that way? I have found my answers and to a some extent stuck at answers that actually are a call to action. Words only take you so far, at some stage one has to flap his wings and experience flying. I am interested in your journey and will be keen to exchange some thoughts.

It'll be interesting to see how you get on with it... The only other comment I would make is concerning what you said about having read about all the other main religions, worldwide. Of course, through simply reading you can't really "know" a spiritual path, you're only really taking in information about it.... I completely understand the search for meaning and purpose and the desire to find a pathway laid out, a clear way to go with things to be getting in with, spiritual disciplines etc.... You're right to point out corruption within other groups/churches - but in all honesty - is Islam really as pure as the driven snow in it's practice worldwide? Are countries where Islam is the dominating religious and political force really countries you would be happy to live in? Lots of questions... I really appreciate your honesty though and admitting your need of help and a pathway and a great many people are realising just how flaky our society is becoming. If you decide that Islam is lacking, please don't think that you've now tried everything and that there's no more hope.

One thing i have noticed about Islam is a clear distinction between “the system” and “the man”. In islam the man has agency and it is respected by God til a given hour, the judgment day. The third entity, “satan” in Islam is not an anti-God entity. Meaning, satan is not someone at war with God, satan is at war with the creation of God, us humans. It is mentioned many times in Quran (e.g., Chapter 2 verse 30, and this dialogue is also referred to in other chapters in more detail) where when God presented Man to angles and others, as a creation that was meant to be superior to them, the angles and others present questioned the obvious vulnerabilities (I understand them as materialistic requirements) in Man. God then told them that God is not only creating “the -obviously vulnerable- Man”, God is also creating “A System’, and as long as the Man will live/operate by that system it will overcome its vulnerabilities/ or be able to sustainably full-fill its requirements. Satan at this point refuses to accept the superiority of Man and respectfully asks God for time to prove his point that Man will easily be swayed away/or will walk away from the system due to his vulnerabilities / materialistic requirements. In other words Hedonism will trump The System. Now the point you raised about countries where “Islam is the dominating religious and political force”. I will highlight the point that a country where the population is predominantly Muslim does not automatically become Islamic. Keep the distinction between The System and The Man in mind here. For a country to be “Islamic” The System has to be implemented. If you ask Muslims that if they could name a true Islamic country anywhere in the world? majority will tell you that there isn’t one. And that it certainly is not ISIS controlled area or Iran or Saudi Arabia, or to some extent even Afghanistan. You will be surprised that many will even tell you that the true ISLAMIC country will, in many ways look like a “Western Socialist leaning Democracy”, with a real democracy, rule of law and social justice. In addition to that the Islamic society will be characterised by a massive emphasis on maintaining family structure in recognition that a family is the basic building block of a society. It is the reason that many Western projects (countries) have succeeded cause they have implemented some aspects of The System. Finally, it’s important that you understand Islam as an emancipating philosophy and certainly not as an ideological shackle.

The Cold War had nothing to do with slavery, it had everything to do with Freedom and Capitalism vs. Dictators and Communism. With freedom comes responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is paying taxes. In a democracy or republic you have the right to elect people to represent you. If you don't like them you get to vote against them. You get none of that in Communism or in a dictatorship. I can understand why you left a Lodge, the concept of being part of something bigger than you is clearly something that you struggle with.
@Woodwind58 Жыл бұрын
So you blame Freemasonry for the evils of Liberalism? Then you say your soul would push you toward either Catholicism or Islam? How many innocent lives were lost in “religious” wars long before the Industrial Revolution? One can be a Freemason today and be Conservative or Liberal. The idea that one particular religion had or has a monopoly on salvation never made any sense to me. Yours is a bleak outlook. How many lives have been saved through advancements - in industry and technology? Shortly after being Raised a longtime Mason said to me, “Freemasonry is what you make of it.” The very same can be said of life. We can fall into the trap of self-victimization where we blame others or even God for our problems, or we can live as best we can. None of us know what follows, but it’s hard for me to believe a life well-lived will be punished. Corruption in government, industry and within religions has existed for centuries. It exists in humans. But so does good and positivity. If one sees only the ills of the world he is missing quite a bit. Try aiming higher!

Master Anatole's temple: my.matterport.com/show/?m=xgHQDsWN2kp "Fame and Fortune" is about "Humanity and Justice" our pursuit of "fame" is determined by the definition of the social structure in which we live. Oneness - "E=MC2" all is energy manifested in different forms. Everything is a manifestation of "Chi/Qi" Tao is the un-namable/unknowable source of all things You got Nature right. The "Divine" expresses itself purely in Nature Society is a set of artificial values that change over time and geography Pretty good on "Nature is Unkind" No, the "Mother" is Tao. Nature is a manifestation of "Tao." Nobody is equal. We all have strengths and weaknesses. "Fair" is a societal definition dependent on a parties ability to wield leverage. There will ALWAYS be alot of discord because the majority of humanity is made up of the "herd." "Wu Wei" "Doing by not doing" Is about "non-interference." Actually, it is the height of wisdom. Knowing exactly what to do, or not do at exactly the right time is wisdom, which is not interfering because you make the right decision at the right time to act, or not act. Read "The Wise One's of Old" -verse 15. " The Wise one's of old had subtle wisdom and depth of understanding. So profound that they could not be understood. And because they could not be understood, perforce must they be so described" They were "Wu Wei," They were wisdom in action. Once you've inculcated completely the lessons of Tao, your life is a natural expression of them, much as a master musician, or artisan. Bringing it back to what Master Anatole said...don't interfere in other's lives that have their own set values. They don't want to learn. They have their beliefs. They want confirmation of what they believe they already know, so leave them alone. That's why China promotes Confucianism. Pretty good.
