Hi, it's three years since you posted this video. Are you still using the bag? How durable is it? Is it strong enough to withstand wear, such as tearing or chafing?

I haven’t used it a lot, but I have had no problems with it. It seems well constructed. The materials are quite thick and tough.

I’m getting ready to have that boat built. Can you tell me the performance numbers with the diesel? I got the numbers from Farallon with twin 200 Yamahas and 1 mile a gallon isn’t going to give me the range I want. Thanks in advance.
@fishandrib8672

I have Volvo Penta D4-260. The MPG from the Volvo meter is about 2.5mpg when I cruise between 23-28mph. The down size of the diesel is max speed. The best I’ve managed is about 34mph, although the previous owner told me on flat calm sea he mad 40mph. Twin outboard will definitely be faster.

I doubt it will be as bad as 1mpg cruise, though. Try asking on bloody deck or the Farallon Facebook group. Some owners may be able to give you their numbers.

The only thing he might want to do next time is trim the motor up some as he's approaching the trailer. Some ramps aren't real steep and when you throttle up to get it up on the trailer your prop can strike the concrete boat ramp behind the trailer.

Very nice! How was the beach launch? Is it pretty rough? Or is it always calm there? I see a lot of rocks too
@fishandrib8672
@fishandrib8672 Жыл бұрын
It's always calm at this cove, which is protected by rocks around it. However, once you get out of the cove, it could be quite rough because it's facing west, which is the predomindant direction for wind and swells in this area. That day we had large west swells that were 4~5 feet tall.

Hey man my true kit 3.3 is on the way, and I am very curious. I dont want to much weight, but I am worried that 6 hp is not enough. What topspeed do you get once the motor was ready for full throttle ? Also I am very curious about the wheels since i saw another video where they did block the movement of the engine and that was also a 3,3 so I am quite puzzled that it worked for you :0). Hope you can give some feedback
@fishandrib8672
@fishandrib8672 2 жыл бұрын
My motor can move without any problem and the wheels don't get into the way (see 1:05). I haven't used the boat for a while, but I think with a 6hp 4 stroke engine you will get 10~12mph max. If you want faster try to get a 2 stroke engine, which is ligter so you can get more hp for the same weight.

"Punctures less than 1/8" in size can be repaired simply without a patch. Deflate your boat, then clean and dry the area to be repaired. Apply a small drop of glue to cover the puncture and let dry for 12 hours. If you need to get on the water sooner, let dry for 30 minutes and then inflate the boat, inflating the compartment with the repair only 3/4 full. This repair might not be permanent so add a drop again at a later date to make it permanent." Did you just drop the glue to fix this? Which glue is best to fix such small size? Thank you
@fishandrib8672
@fishandrib8672 Ай бұрын
I just used the glue from the fix-it kit that came with the boat.

Hi was just wondering if you have the measurements for this ? Thanks
@fishandrib8672

I didn't make any measurements. I just found a rope that was long enough, and then kept adjusting the knots until I get the correct length to all the four hooks.

Thanks for posting--two questions if I may. What is the SLOWEST speed you can run? Second, did you compare this Suzuki with any other 6 before purchase--I mean on paper? The Tohatsu, the Yamaha, etc./all? thank you
@fishandrib8672
@fishandrib8672 3 жыл бұрын
I didn't measure but it was pretty slow in idle. Maybe 2 miles per hour if I have to guess. I picked Suzuki because it is the lightest in weight in the 6hp class. Tohatsu (same as Mercury) is slightly heavier and Yamaha is quite a bit heavier and more expensive.

@@fishandrib8672 Thanks for that--did the engine lock in place if you want it to not turn--and not have to stay back there with it while it is running? Thank you again, and thanks for posting

I have used the boat only a few times but I've been pretty happy with it. The Discovery is a bit more spacious (I think) and easier to get in from the water.

You can buy 4 stainless carabiners from online or HomeDepot. Then inflate the boat, thread the lines inside the hose and measure how much line you need. You don't want any slacks in the lines, or else it would be difficult to pull the boat around.
