one thing i love about this film (and great video by the way) is that when it came out, it split audiences on whether it was Pro-life or pro-choice? i saw this film as being pro-responsibility and pro-respect. Juno takes responsibility for her pregnancy, and every choice she makes is respected. She chooses to end the pregnancy, and Leah offers to book the appointment for her. Respect she actively looks for a potential family for her son, because for wants to find the right family. Responsibly she chooses to carry to term, and tell her parents, and her decision to give up the baby for adoption. Respected Vanessa offers an open adoption, and Juno tells her no.Vanessa respects her decision, but was still willing for it to be open. Vanessa will not even touch Juno's body, until she has permission to, because that's respect and Juno, even though Vanessa and Mark have split up, respects Vanessa and knows that her son will be in safe hands in the end one of the many reasons why i love this film so much

I refused to watch this show because of another issue on the top of what you already mentioned! After seeing lots of memes and reels on social media praising Dahmer's 6 pack and sex!ness! which was highly disturbing. 👉On the other hand the movie "The Golden Glove" demonstrates this expertly, delving into the psyche of a killer while maintaining a clear moral stance and never losing sight of the terror and human cost of such crimes. you understand his motivations to a certain point but never ever glorify him because the movie didn't give any chance to do so! 👈 I have seen many serial killers series that mou feels like an ill-conceived attempt to turn serious issues into entertainment without any meaningful commentary, leaving a sour taste for viewers who recognize the dangers of normalizing such behavior. It's time for creators to move beyond these misguided glorifications and approach such topics with the gravity they deserve.

You could say it's inappropriate to turn atrocities like the holocaust into entertainment, but it's also important to tell these stories, to pass them on to future generations, and to open the door to talking about them. I remember a survivor saying in an interview that until Schindler's List came out, no one wanted to hear about her experiences. It was never discussed. Films are gonna reach a lot of people that books won't. Not that that erases the criticisms, but it seems an important factor.

I feel like it's just common sense that if you're going to address the very neglected issue of male victims of SA then you probably shouldn't hypersexualize the subjects involved in that discussion. I remember seeing screenshots from this show and I legitimately thought it was from softcore gay p*rn, with their fit, tanned bodies covered in nothing but little speedos.

People loving and making excuses for Tate make me think of the people who romanticize the Ascended version of Astarion in BG3. The writers made it VERY clear (even flat-out saying that's his bad ending) that he's not someone who loves you, and they even put it in the inner monologue that he looks at you as lesser because you choose to be with him (even though you're the hero of the entire story), but I'll see people being like, "Oh, he just loves Tav in his own way," and "He threatens Tav's life when they want to leave because he wants to keep them close." Point being, toxic people who clearly need deep, extensive psychotherapy will see a lover in a monster even when the monster says they're a monster and will harm you. I'm NGL, I really dislike such people. That being said, this show irresponsibly _does_ make a monster a lover. At least Astarion has to earn his redemption and respect and return your love in his good ending in BG3.

I never got into the series because of this season! The teen storyline was so harmful to me even then, and I felt disgusted by how irresponsible and dangerous it was to tell a story that way. The showrunner wasn't someone I could trust.

When my wife died in 2000 her biological father who was now divorced from her biological mother no one cried and I thought that this was strange my family was very emotional. And when I reached out for even a scintilla of support I was told to get over it I was not allowed to grieve in fact I had both sides of the family her step family and her biological family blaming me for her death and it was obvious they didn't care. I wanted to go after her father's stepdaughter and punch her in the face for bringing a screaming child to Wendy's wake growing up I kept to myself and now I keep to myself strictly because I know there's no one out there that's going to give a shit. Whether I live or die so I decided to live for myself and maybe I made some mistakes along the way and maybe people look down on me for it but fuck them you got to be able to pick yourself up sometime but I would seriously like to look into echoism.

Who was Dahmer? Dahmer was made for me. I'm a life-long fan of horror movies, and death metal, and true crime. The psychology of serial killers has always fascinated me. I thought it was a good show. It did a great job of portraying how serial killers are people too, even though they do terrible things. They often have complex inner lives just like everyone else, and it's always fascinating to see how someone ends up that way.

To answer your question with my opinions: - Dahmer was made as a moral obfuscation. - It was made for people who were not a part of the community, not even in the same region, I think. The same way Americans are just consuming and chugging on all of the juicy Hitler movies. Sure, let's honor the victims but Jeffrey Dahmer is clearly more than just a serial killer. So many philosophical, psychological, criminological, sociological and even historic debates, many which feels like can not be answered for the sole purpose of respecting the family members. - The "fake scenes" were not the director using the guy to create a narrative storyline. I think it created a hypothetical scenario that speaks for itself about criminals: Killing was Dahmer's addiction. He will relapse. The statement here is: No, even if he found true love with the most ideal, trustworthy, loving partner. Even if he changed his life around and earned the happy tears of his father, by being proud of his son. Not even these could combat the most quintessential parts of why he did all of this: Addiction. The same mental process that makes cigarette quitters relapse after 3-4 years of quitting. The same mental process that keeps dying alcoholics drink more. And the same mental process which was at play when two hedonistic, poor people won the lottery and became rich. They became poor and homeless again eventually. Why? Because they are addicted to this lifestyle. They refuse to learn better. - And the story they created with Tony was exactly portraying this. The message was: "No, dear viewers. Don't feel bad for him. Even if he got everything he desired, he was already at the point of no return. It was not the world that was cruel to him. It was his addiction taking over his life." - The scenes for his "backstory" were not all focusing on his past to create an epic villain backstory. And in fact, past affects the way we make decisions in later life. I don't think there are any scholar studies proving this otherwise. Thus, it is important. On top of all of that, peering into his past, allowed us to see the pattern in which a serial killer is created. For example: Let's not gut roadkill animals in the most adaptive stage of your son's emotional and sexual development. Or for example, let's not normalize seeing your mother holding a knife against your dad during the same stage in life. Sure, these were not a chain of events resulting into the creation of Joker. Rather, micro-factors that all contributed to the distortion of his personality. His happy place was destroyed by arguing parents, and his "getaway" was gutting animals. The same way people who escaped arguing parents by playing video games, are still playing video games to this day, yes? - The scenes about past also contributes to a historic account on "being loose". And this is a huge theme you did not mention. I could list the many powerful moments where the show highlights a chain of events not leading to the creation of Dahmer, but rather, leading to individuals in the time's society coming to a decision. The cop who decided to not arrest the drunk 18 years old driver. The cop who decided to not investigate into gay people's things. The principal who decided to let a talented student fall out of college. The shop owner who decided to employ the guy as a butcher. The policeman who ignored how a guy living with his grandmother literally drugged a man in his house. "I don't know how pills even look like". All it would have take is a background check to see that he worked as a medical assistant, and as a medical expert in the military, and that he was lying. TLDR: I think the many things you view as "Bad bad corporate creating fake stories to entertain people with other people's death, ignoring their families" is actually just a popular trope that is hiding ethical narratives, to teach the current generation when to not believe in bullshit. All people acting cool in the story, ultimately enabled the death of the victims. The victims were not only the victims of Dahmer. They were the victims of a time and place where "being cool" was more important than "being responsible".

I do feel like- yes it gets exploitative and people cant focus on what the show is about especially WITH cats storyline. She became a object. Accidently the looses point. This is why things should be a mini series and a short story...they work much better. Even if the plot is lost if the character development is good- like the shorts. You can carry a good story.
