@nobodyspecial5026

they run, they just don’t make good power NA, less than a properly built non-hybrid Renesis. The problem is most RX8 people have little - no experience with a properly built and tuned Renesis. Which is going to make between 220 - 235 whp on a chassis dyno, or 260 - 275 bhp on an engine dyno. Which I’m sorry to see that you took this route not knowing all the ins and outs of what you’re getting into here. Because you seem like a genuinely nice guy with a sincere viewpoint rather than the usual yourube showboating attention harlot, but the odds are not in your favor unfortunately when dyno day comes. The overall issue is there are a lot of people out there going on about this hybrid deal without any understanding of the actual technical merits involved. The Renesis seems similar to previous 13B engines, but the way it’s designed and why it can perform better than previous factory NA 13B engines isn’t going to play well once overlap timing is added from the exhaust port housings. Because the Renesis is entirely designed and configured to not have any overlap. So adding it isn’t the same as the previous 13B engines that were designed and configured with overlap from the factory. You’re not adding overlap on them, but increasing it instead. Those earlier engines have to be bridgeported for the intake ports on them to open as early as the factory Renesis ports. Yet the Renesis has no overlap even with the intake ports opening that early. It’s a subtle yet significant difference that is easily overlooked by people who just make stuff up in their head based on what they either heard or learned from the past rather than getting down into the nitty gritty of the technical details that matter. That’s how the whole hybrid idea started around 16 years ago on RX8Club. It seems like a natural evolution on the surface, but the reality of it requires going deeper. Which is where everyone is going wrong. Not just on this particular subject, but most everything else in their life as well. (que spiritual music on) .
@nobodyspecial5026
@nobodyspecial5026 Жыл бұрын
Which btw Kyle Mohan told one commenter in his 18 month long NA hybrid Renesis scheme that’s been sitting for the last 6 months waiting for the soon to be dyno session that an unported hybrid won’t brap. Yet if you understood my previous comment above about the factory Renesis intake port opening timing only being matched in a previous 13B by bridgeporting it, then it should be obvious what’s really going to happen when you add a huge amount of exhaust port overlap with the early engine rotor housings even without any exhaust porting. Which only signifies to me that; like most of the people yammering on about this hybrid deal, he didn’t even bother to study or evaluate those port timing differences of the Renesis compared to those earlier engines. Of he had then he never would have posted his comment about it not brapping. Except brapping is not always a good thing as proposed by all the clueless braptards out there. What it means on this hybrid engine is that the exhaust is pulsing big time into the intake ports; not just through a small bridgeport brow opening in a controlled manner as the rotor tip sweeps by, but directly into the full intake port suddenly. This is one of the reasons they don’t make good power. Again, a Renesis is not intended to ever experience exhaust timing overlap. Everything about a Renesis is designed around this one critical feature.

@badoasis3588 Жыл бұрын
Hey bro I didn’t build the engine I actually had an expert in my area build it. but I do know he used 2mm rx-7 apex not sure what brand and hopefully in my next video I can answer your question about gas consumption because I have yet to drive the car. I only got to turn it on for about a minute and I’m currently addressing a small leak on the water pump once that’s fixed, I’ll be able to drive her down the road and get a good feel for her.
@mincvinyl
@mincvinyl Жыл бұрын
You would want the stock mazda 2mm wide fd tall seals. The rx8 rotors and rx8 corner seals would have to be sent off to be wire EDMed. Fuel mileage will be down around 10-14mpg probably. Depending rich or lean tune. Depending on driving habits you could maybe stay higher.
@nobodyspecial5026
@nobodyspecial5026 Жыл бұрын
3mm seals require the trochoid dimensions on the inner rotor housing surface to be different than 2mm housings to compensate for the apex seal thickness difference. Or at least that’s how Mazda addressed it according to various technical papers and also as discussed by Kenichi Yamamoto in his “Rotary Engine” book regarding the wankel engineering design concepts and design data employed at Mazda. .

@badoasis3588 I was convinced by the same... his old dyno charts kinda tell the tale as well... no HP or low end torque, once boosted it put up low numbers vs a 13b rew and the durability/reliability will be substantially less... if you look at rx8 forums and look for a grumpy guss named TeamRX8 he has spent months disproving it and showing why it won't work and goes through the mechanics as to why it doesn't work and comparing port timings. Kyle Mohan was brought up by myself and others who wanted to believe in the hybrid.... but all points point to it being a dud.... this may explain why KMR also keeps dragging it out for years... note that his motor is a totally shop built spec'd balanced block...not a garagigans weekend project... and how longs it been and still not so much as some dyno numbers???? Either kmr shop works suuuuuper slow... or he's dragging it out for click bait content from a bunch of fanboys like us who wish/hope so badly for it to work....

@@badoasis3588 yeah it'd need both, best to just eliminate and go premix, imo. If you mix yourself you save the need for oil injection and unlock the ability to run synthetic oils. You cant run synthetic normally as it uses the oil as rotor lube. Premix will also provide cleaner chambers for longer in theory as 2 stroke oil is meant to burn off.

@spoonsarefun
@spoonsarefun Жыл бұрын
@@badoasis3588 had some new theories for my build. The brand new Mazda rotary used in mx30 has 2.5mm thick apex seals, Mazda used thicker ones as they say it will last much longer... they also came out and said why the rx7/rx8 has flawed motor and uses so much fuel... it likes to collect mostly at the leading rotor tip and before full combustion a lot is sent right out the exhaust... my theory is that dimpled rx8 rotor or even partial dimple near apex may turbulate the air more and thus mix with fuel more and get more bang bang for buck... this idea is being used recently in diesel engines and has been used in gas engines before with benefits realized. Also I've thought about a hybrid exhaust split manifold to separate the rx8 exhaust ports from rx7 and perhaps using a valve that can be opened when a certain rpm is hit to avoid the exhaust gases jumping across rotors
