Short but very informative video. Have had Lyme from 2009 and because of no bull's eye rash, I was not tested first 11 years, but went to doctor frequently, because chronically ill. After negative Elisa and Western Blot, I finally tested positive with Elispot testing in Germany Arminlabs. If there only would have been a doctor who had listen me saying over and over again, that 3 days after I took a tick off from me(and tick was on me 2 days, it was deep in and full of blood), I fell ill and had symptoms daily. No it's 15 years later, still ill daily.

Bladder retention, constant femoral nerve pain, weak, heavy arms & legs, numb hands, ankles & feet, constant twitches & spasms, constant burning/tingling in arms & legs, vertigo, cold/heat/exercise intolerance, insomnia/cant sleep thru the constant pain, repulsed by food, feeling like Borrelia or Post Treatment Lyme Disease is going to kill you sooner or later. Every waking moment having to deal with these symptoms. Don't try to wait it out or wait for positive antibody tests that rarely show up because of the sketchy lab tests available at Quest & Labcorp. Those first few months supposedly matter whether you can recover or end up chronic. Take Doxycycline for a month, not 10 days, following its directions faithfully. Take all the B & D vitamins, testing to make sure you are in the upper normal range. Take all the Lyme supplements you can afford. Try following a routine of red light therapy/infrared sauna. Eat organic whole foods & drink lots of water. Be prepared for many specialists passing you along to the next one several months down the road to the point where lots of money & time wasted. The "watchful waiting" game you have to play with the medical community. And the 5 stages of grief for the life as you knew it gone almost overnite. But never, never, never give up. There is light at the end of this scary tunnel.

Why not just look at someone's blood with a powerful microscope, especially for chronic Lyme?

Is a western blot false positive band test for IgM less comparable to false negative ?
@nicolebell1913 Жыл бұрын
Both false positives and false negatives lead to massive clinical challenges. Antibodies can cross-react with multiple organisms and thus are often non-specific, leading to false positives. IgM is often worse than IgG for specificity since it comes first in the immune response, and the antibodies have not adapted to provide the specificity needed. But both IgM and IgG antibodies can lead to false positives (and false negatives for different reasons). This is why direct detection is the preferred approach. Then, it becomes a matter of sensitivity, as discussed in the video. I hope that helps!
