I just realized that at the end, the spare sound and effect that plays when you spare a boss in pacifist, happens, but instead of clover coming to terms with a monster, they're coming to terms with themselves. The friends they made, the deputy lessons they took, the monsters they danced with, the puzzles they solved, battles they endured... It made them realize that true justice is not to avenge the humans or destroy the monsters, true justice is to donate their SOUL. From how Undertale puts it, Monsters were sealed away because human feared them and their ability to absorb human SOULs, but the monsters never posed a threat themselves. That's what Clover realized, and it's beautiful :')

In my headcanon ceroba boss fight is mostly just clover being a kid and thinking of the battle as significantly harder than it really is. Random ass weeabo woman has a fight harder than Undyne the Undying? Keep in mind Undyne was running on sheer determination and the thought that if she lost, Frisk would kill the entire underground. I don't care if you want his soul to save your daughter (even tho it wasn't exactly for that), my girl you are NOT gonna be stronger than that. Also, putting on a random mask that your daughter made is supposed to make me believe that it just gives you a power boost out of nowhere? Yeah no. Ceroba fight was actually pretty easy, def easier than even neutral route asgore in UT, but the whole situation (Martlet and Starlo getting knocked out) put so much stress into Clover's infant head that he imagined it as SIGNIFICANTLY harder than it really is. That is what we're seeing in the game. Actually, you know what? First phase can happen that way, but in reality after she puts on the mask there's no second phase or bs transformation, she stays physically the same as phase 1 and her attacks remain the same, but ceroba put so much drama into putting on the mask that she gaslit clover into imagining masked ceroba as literally any different than normal ceroba even tho in reality it kept being the exact same fight and exact same level of difficulty. That is my headcanon. I will NOT talk about geno ceroba, that route isn't even canon anyway.

You answer the call," just got me so hard in the feelings. I love you, Clover!! It's also kinda beautiful how Flowey decides Clover deserves rest, when he was seriously considering torturing them for eternity in Neutral. He even calls them "friend," even after they're dead. It's such a stark contrast between the nigh-hopeless neutral ending and this beautiful, bittersweet one.
