Another brilliant song from you! Going from strength to strength getting the recognition you deserve. Played lots on Midwest as well. Enjoyed over here in Scotland can still remember the lockdown videos great to see father and daughter performing as well.

Whilst on a road in South Armagh close to midnight , a little drunk fella stumbled upto me and the RUC officer walking alongside me (why he chose to walk witth me heaven knows I had the GPMG ;O any sniper worth his salt would target me first , given that im 80% of the patrols fire power - maybe that im the prime target he knew he'd be able to take cover before a second shot ;) anyway ) .....(any Squaddie , RUC , Republican or Loyalist Volunteer will get my black humour)....so back to the wee drunken fella ...aimed towards the RUC chap who agreed with him tbh , after many minutes of chat , he got to this part of his drunken poetic verse , stays with me all this time . " We are all Irish , we can talk together , we can live together , we can drink , dance and listen to music together , we just can't fight together " he finished with a resigned sadness .....But I'll tell of a incident , just one when this did happen . My Grandad RIP probably one the smallest fellas on any battlefield a WW2 India/Burma veteran and professional of the 1st Bn Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers ....told me of a time when the Battalion was in England (Staffordshire I'm sure) before deployment to India ...1938/39 ? ....some locals were verbally & aggressively anti Irish towards a group of Irish Soldiers drinking in one pub , the lads were Catholic and Protestant from North and South but all Irish ....the abuse was the kind that at some point you couldn't turn the other cheek to ....So the Irish Soldiers meeted out a very long , very painful justice , my Grandad recall's one lad a huge man bigger than anyone else in the pub ' (As John Wayne rounds up a handful of US cavalrymen to go into the bar 'She Wore A Yellow Ribbon ' 'Victor McLaglen' Sgt " Iv'e never gone anywhere peacefully in my life" Quincannon to take him to jail ! ) that movie scene always in my head ;o , surrounded by many locals punching and throwing them across the pub like flies ....a lot of damage was done to the pub that day .....On parade the next morning , no Irish Soldier was punished , but the Battalion voluntarily ? had a wip round to repair the pub ' better than it was before' .....but the wee drunk fella on a road in South Armagh had a point ......."where are you from son ", "Blackpool" ..we shook hands , wished each other good luck , he couldn't keep up and fell back , talking to each Squaddie (soldier) stretched out down the road , over a good 200 metres as they trundled past him , at base I was accosted by a few dozen or so bemused lads ...."Tez did you talk to a little drunk bloke" ......" hmmm I might have" ....he'd asked every single one of them if they was from Blackpool ;))) that wee drunk fella what a legend ? .

On the first day of January 1892 They opened Ellis Island and they let the people through And the first to cross the threshold of that isle of hope and tears Was Annie Moore from Ireland who was all of 15 years Isle of hope, isle of tears Isle of freedom, isle of fears But it’s not the isle you left behind That isle of hunger, isle of pain Isle you’ll never see again But the isle of home is always on your mind In a little bag, she carried all her past and history And her dreams for the future in the land of liberty And courage is the passport when your old world disappears But there’s no future in the past when you’re 15 years Isle of hope, isle of tears Isle of freedom, isle of fears But it’s not the isle you left behind That isle of hunger, isle of pain Isle you’ll never see again But the isle of home is always on your mind When they closed down Ellis Island in 1943 17 million people had come there for sanctuary And in springtime when I came here and I stepped onto its piers I thought of how it must have been when you’re 15 years Isle of hope, isle of tears Isle of freedom, isle of fears But it’s not the isle you left behind That isle of hunger, isle of pain Isle you’ll never see again But the isle of home is always on your mind But the isle of home is always on your mind
