Could we use this router with a Sonos speaker system? In case anybody out there doesn’t know this… Sonos will not work with captive portal.

I do not have a sonos, but once the router has Internet you should be able to connect devices to it as you would at home. The devices would not need to go through the captive portal shenanigans since the router itself is routing things through its already completed captive portal connection.

Hello, Port Forwarding is different for everyone based on your Internet Service Provider. Even within a provider they often have multiple different models. It is best to lookup your provider and model number for a video on KZbin or call your provider directly for them to help you complete Port Forwarding. Otherwise you email me a screenshot of your Port Forwarding or you can get 1 on 1 help from RemoteToHome.io which has provided a 5% discount code: JustinRR5

Curious if I’m the only having issues with this set up recently. For the past month or so, my internet connection has been incredibly slow abroad. When I test my out of country internet without using the router, the speed is fine at 100+ mbps, but when I connect it through glinet I’m getting max 1-2 mbps download. A significant drop off! At first I thought it was my company-owned laptop that for some reason wasn’t allowing me to do this workaround anymore. But the issue is also on my personal devices. Software is up to date on both routers. I’m using the berylAX at home and the slateAX when I travel. I’ve confirmed the set up is working on both routers. Any advice on how to troubleshoot this, please?

Hi Justin, Thank you so much for this great video! Can I ask, if you are looking to use this route while travelling abroad and connect a company laptop (Company laptop needs to connect to a company VPN that only works in the UK), is it better to set it up this way, or set it up the way you show in your other video using two routers to show your home IP address? It simply comes down to what your company allows. Using two routers should work with every company, but using a Commercial VPN Provider such as NordVPN may be blocked by some companies. Especially financial or government contractor companies. Typically running your own Server with 2 routers is the way to go, but this means you need to make sure your power and Internet don't go offline while abroad. So if you don't have reliable Internet and power, then using a Commercial provider would be a better option if your company allows it.

Happy New Year and thank you for an amazing guide. I have it all set up working well. I have seen some commentary online saying it would be worth also enabling encrypted DNS over TLS (Cloudflare) for privacy. I am however connecting to a company VPN and on their network they have their own domain names. When I turn on encrypted DNS I guess it can't resolve those internal hostnames correctly. Can you comment is it really even necessary to do this? I did a leaktest online and I can see in with DNS in automatic mode on both the client and server it isn't using the ISP DNS resolvers anyways, it's using a PDNS service. Thank you in advance!
@justinreviewsandrepairs5246
@justinreviewsandrepairs5246 9 күн бұрын
It is not necessary unless your Dynamic DNS is not resolving on the Client Travel Router. Once the Client Travel Router is connected to the Server Travel Router it is using the Server DNS. The reason you might do it on the Server Travel Router is simply for speed. Cloudflare is typically faster than the DNS Servers provided by your ISP. The actual privacy recommendation is to Block Non-VPN Traffic in case your VPN fails while in use: docs.gl-inet.com/router/en/4/faq/block_no_vpn_traffic/

Fantastic video. Was able to get everything working really easily by following these steps. I have a question though: if we're testing this setup with 2 of the same Beryl routers (I'm using GL-MT3000s), and both of these routers are connected to the same WiFi network, will there be conflicts with them trying to use the same local IP address (192.168.8.1)? The reason I'm asking is because I've noticed that when I stop/start the VPN Client service on my "Travel" router, it can get stuck on the "connecting" step until I disable the VPN service on the "Travel" router, reboot my "Home" router acting as my VPN server, and re-enable the VPN client on the Travel router.
@justinreviewsandrepairs5246
@justinreviewsandrepairs5246 10 күн бұрын
You can connect them to the same network for the initial setup, but after that you should keep the Client Travel Router on a different Internet connection. You won't be able to connect to the Server Travel Router while already connected to the same Internet. If you are using a Phone HotSpot to supply Internet to the travel router, make sure the phone is not connected to your home WiFi as it will often share that Internet instead of the Cell Network as intended. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks

You need traditional Internet, not the new shared Internet plans that share Internet with everyone in your area. Call up your ISP and ask if they support Port Forwarding or if they have "CGNAT". Some ISPs offer a "Static IP Address" option where you can be given a Public IP Address that supports Port Forwarding for a small fee. In the event you cannot get real Internet, you can still use the TailScale VPN Option on the newer routers (Not the Opal) such as the Beryl AX, Slate AX, Flint, Flint 2. However, TailScale is still in beta and requires some skill to complete the exit node setup. Happy New Year!

If you are getting upload errors, maybe the connection between the two routers is not adequate. Do you have Fiber Optic Internet at home? You can use a personal device to see what your IP Address is. Hello Justin, this video is awesome! I do need your help though please... I purchased 2x Beryl AX3000s. I set one up as the server and one as the client. I used "whatismyipaddress" and voila, I got my ISP address on my client! ... all confirmed, I boxed the client up ready for my next vacation. I guess I should have tested beyond confirming the IP address, as I had connectivity issues while away. I connected to my BerylAX and log the Repeater into the hotel's Wi-Fi network. Started the WireGuard client and got the green light. I ran "whatismyipaddress" from my browser to confirm and voila, my home IP address came up! That seems to be where the joy stops and I can't figure out why ... WireGuard traffic stats show traffic flowing in "KB", but not fast enough to load any webpages, let a lone stream anything. I'm guessing this is a latency issue caused by a setting somewhere, but no idea how to proceed. Any ideas?

@@justinreviewsandrepairs5246 OK and at that point when using your phone for apps like let’s say our jobs vpn (global protect) doesn’t it come in into play when we scan that QR code with our phone that were now able to access the wire guard server to use our same residential ip address? Bcuz that’s the whole point for me and why I’m doing all this bcuz my job sends over my 2 step verification via phone to authenticate duo and I have to have the same ip address on my computer as well as my phone. This whole process should support and solve all of that correct?

Thank you for your video! Would you recommend the Teclast P30 as a home dashboard mounted on a wall, while permanently charging it? I was wondering about the power usage, fast charging is of no use for me in this case.

I have not tried leaving the screen on 24/7 but for safety reasons I would probably go with the Samsung because you have better control of the battery. Leaving things plugged in 24/7 at 100% charge typically results in the battery swelling. I believe you can reduce the charge percentage to 60% on the Samsung to extend the life of the battery. Otherwise the performance of the tablet is great.

I heard that Advanced IT departments equipped with Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology can detect and analyze the WireGuard packet headers within your traffic. do you know to get over that?

Since the company typically has full control of your computer, they could do something like this to determine the trace route is different, but since the VPN is on the Travel Router they won't be able to see the middle part of the transaction. It would still be a level of speculation on their part.

But there are some major issues to keep in mind, which is why I ultimately spent a bit more money for the $70 Teclast P30 kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGWnaKmlhKephKs

You may need to update the firmware manually if it failed. The factory reset does not revert the firmware version.

@ no idea how to do that . Bought this for the simple plug and play feature not become entrenched into tweaking and overclocking

It is simple... If it works... Unfortunately the flashing process is a bit complex and requires you to download the file from their Telegram Group: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omKkpmx3bsdgnJo If you are willing to sell it, I would be interested in making a video about it.
