What does the "balance valve" do?
@jeffersonstateairrifles7510
@jeffersonstateairrifles7510 13 күн бұрын
@tkarlmann Well, the balance valve provides a wide range of tuneability with a reduction of required opening force, while also pneumaticaly closing quickly to preserve tank air and, if tuned appropriately, increase accuracy via less mechanical forces and vibrations as well as less turbulence (excess air) behind the projectile... overall, it provides a smother shot cycle with potential for more efficiency and / or more power, depending on your desired tune / output.

I've just received a new marauder field and target model .22 from the factory. I wasn't aware that the regulator was not adjustable by the customer and am thinking about returning it for a non regulated version. It now shoots a great shot string and demonstrates good consistency for about 60-70 shots before coming off the regulator at about 1400 psi. It's shooting 14.3 gr pellets at about 800fps now. I'd like a little more energy from the gun but feel limited by the non-adjustable regulator. I love the gun in every other way. Would some of your parts help this situation or do you advise exchanging for a standard Marauder?..thanks!!..
@OoheavysackoO
@OoheavysackoO 8 ай бұрын
The Field and target is built for consistency and it does it quite well. Took me 20 shots to have two hits on a 10in target at 174y. I've put around 2k shots before that at 8y-37y and I have a nice scope. Consistency is what you're paying for. Can't kill what you can't hit. 2k shots with a nice scope. Wish I would have recorded it. Hold over was 20 in left and 126 up. Crossman prem heavy. Reg is set at factory 2000psi. New I was getting 45 shots or so. Now I have to replace orings, I'm down to 20 and I feel it in my face lol.

I was stumped by your comment until now... I just found that some of the P-Rod balance valve housings have an oversized O-ring groove - so the valve is extra tight, to too tight going in the tube... I'm sorry that I didn't notice the machining of some housings are out of tolerance... I just ordered O-rings that may fit well for this situation so that I can simply send a different o-ring out to you... otherwise, I would be happy to alter your valve housing so that it fits in the tube! (I was stumped because the dimensions of the valves should be the same and should install exactly the same...I have installed some valves just fine, but recently found some that don't fit (too tight!) - I'm sorry about that! - I assume this is your issue?)

Do you add a buffer between valve and hammer
@jeffersonstateairrifles7510
@jeffersonstateairrifles7510 Жыл бұрын
I don't believe there was a buffer o-ring in this video - depending on the caliber and tuning sometimes they are not needed, however, I am at the point now where I put them in as standard because there are tunings that it can really help stabilize and tighten up the velocity spread, plus it has potential to quiet and smooth out hammer impact as well as protect and elongate the valve wear-components' lifespan. Also, more often than not, I aim to tune the balance valves with a pneumatic closure instead of mechanical impact limits... This is how the new balance valves have been restructured and redesigned to provide more stability in tuning and some more efficiency as well. So to answer your question... Most of the time, yes.

This is tricky to answer fully from this vantage point, I would like to know more... Caliber, tuning, grain; what valve, what is it currently producing, what do you want it to produce... Possibly why depending on some of these answers... Does the hammer have free flight, or is there pre-load on the springs? I'm shooting in the dark a bit here, but instead of shimming the springs simply tighten the adjuster... Possibly try a Spring Stopping Guide Sub-Assembly to pick up serious efficiency, and potentially extra power at the same time - providing the ability to add pre-load and free flight simultaneously, you may need to port some of the build out... However, If you really want power, a feathery light and smooth ride along with an efficiently high shot count... Check out a Rouge Raptor... Catch one of ya can.

I have been attempting to... Estimated delivery was last October... So hopefully soon-ish! I intended to check on them today but at this rate it'll have to be tomorrow... Eight months to get the raw aluminum...

Thank you for answering a few questions about your valve, regulator, and rifle. I am eagerly awaiting a sweet .25 JSAR marauder sidelever beech. Now I want your new valve too.

Heck yeah! And yes, I have been eagerly awaiting the MRod side lever breeches too - for multiple months... tough days for manufacturing. I also like that you are from the Great State of Wyoming - My native stomping grounds!
