Truly stunning, some of the timbres that come from this synth. There's magic in dem circuits...

What is Saich feeding into before the Ripples? Looks like a Noise Engineering module.

Yes! It's Noise Engineering's Pons Asinorum, a four channel EG which all share a trigger

I can really recommend the BOSS RV-6 Reverb. It's as simple as they come, built like a tank and I really love the shimmer reverb on there - if you turn down the TONE knob all the way it sounds like no other shimmer, as it rounds off those glassy overtones and makes it sound warm instead. Lovely for ambient and but also versatile enough for other stuff as well.

love this track. How do you feel generate 3 vs Verbos Oscillator? Can get same tone/mood of them? Because pretty all the demos I heard from generate 2 were quite "aggresive" in sound... and I love the old School vintage sound like verbos, Vermona, ...
@LeeCantare3 жыл бұрын
Hi! sorry for the late response. The generate 3 can definitely deliver milder tone when tweaking the odd and fundamental levels. It essentially lets your morph between the wave forms so there is a ton of flexibility. A VCF afterwards will definitely help develop the vintage sound further - with verbos I don't think it's as necessary to follow it with a VCF.

Hi!can nebulae v2 receive clock signals-get synced the way beads can do it thru seed input?can nebulae also be used an a fx unit (realtime) like beads?thanks in advance
@michaelcorell90503 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is a secondary setting that lets you turn the Source input jack into a grain trigger

That Complex Oscillator sounds so beautiful. Well done. For a reverb pedal try Empress Reverb or Eventide Space.

I totally get what you mean. These days, I've just been keeping it in my rack solely as a quantizer. It's helping me to just focus and hone my knowledge in one of its modes.

Lovely but to short you tease. -A cheap and good stereo reverb, often overlooked because it's so cheap, is TC Electronic Hall of Fame. -Meris Mercury 7 has a, I believe stereo input, and two outs. This pedal is allegedly inspired by Blade Runner. Got more under its hood than at first sight, with some knob combos or whatever, but fun to use apparently, and makes a great sound even if you can't be bothered with the "easter eggs". -A bit more expensive, but according to many better than the complex and more expensive Eventide Space that btw many synth heads seems to believe one has to have, is the Empress Effects Reverb that has many knobs and settings but easy to use. -Also check out Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run, Dispachmaster and Afterneath. Tha last you also get as a module btw. In case you or any other potential readers of this don't know: Tip for using reverb is to set the mix at 10-11 o'clock and decay at 1-3 for not drowning the source but at the same time getting the space. Even if you have an outboard mixer with send and return I recommend the ALM S.B.G send and return module with attenuation for the hot eurorack signal to line level input on a pedal, and vise versa. It comes with a floating ring cable and an in and output for it, that makes it safe to send a modulation signal from your rack to a pedal. I use a reverb on the send and return channels on an external mixer, but also like to add another reverb and or other pedal chain combo directly connected to my rack via this module. I got a mother 32 next to my rack that also gets a pedal or two sometimes. Then I got the Broken Silicone Gainsburg, for a silly price, that gives me two line inputs for the Mother, or whatever, with pedals. There are so many better line level pedals and other effects than there are eurorack effects. They don't steal HP, are most often cheaper and often to be found secondhand. There are also many cheap pedals that work great in surprising ways with synths, sometimes better than with guitar. Like distortion for example, that contra intuitively can soften the sound of an analogue oscillator, particularly with a reverb after. I don't get to modulate pedals as much and easily as effects modules, but I don't see the point really. I do however send return signals from the S.B.G to a VCA that I modulate "so I got that going for me which is nice". This S.B.G is also rather small, not pricey and I consider getting another one for even more pedalery, and also the not to expensive Old Blood Noise Endeavors Signal Blender pedal to make my effects even more module like. Other pedals that work well with synths are delay and chorus of course, but also phasers, drive, bit crusher, stutter, randomlike vinyl and tape emulators and harmonizers or octave shifters. The brand Electro Harmonix is also worth checking out that makes really inventive pedals for a fair price, like the Superego+. There are great videos on youtube with all the pedals I mentioned here, and most of them with synths to. Also bear in mind that pedals with knobs that you as a euroracker want to play around with are more fun in modular, than they are for a keyboard player who in a live situation wants many presets. My point is that what is best for a traditional synth is not necessarily the best for eurorack.
@LeeCantare3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jonas for your super thoughtful response! The mercury 7 looks very interesting and I may have to check that out. Also, great point about hot eurorack signals and neat trick with the SBG to get some modulation on wet/dry of the reverb - although I think modulating that by hand is one of the fun things about external pedals :)
@jonaseggen22303 жыл бұрын
@@LeeCantare Happy you appreciated my input and I agree about the modulating pedals by hand thing and seldom use that option myself, though for some effects like delay it can make sense. I should have mentioned the Polara from Digitech as on of the really good among the cheap ones, but if you can afford it, I don't think anyone have been disappointed with the mercury 7, and this guy, who is a true reverb aficionado, still use this one the most out of all the reverb pedals he got. He mostly play guitar though, but all kinds of genres and not only boring blues as most pedal presenters here on youtube do, and occasionally some synth to. If you search on his page he has links to other videos on this pedal as well and an interview with the maker: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5bKm51nmZaWq6M&ab_channel=ThePedalZone

Beautiful work, subscribed! I didn't quite follow the description -- is the Mother 32 acting as a voice, or only to modulate the Disting's frequency? Is the Disting producing more than one voice here?
@LeeCantare3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Sorry for the late reply. I made this quite awhile ago so details are a bit fuzzy, however both mother and disting are distinct voices. Each voice is stacked and the 1v/oct of the mother is mult'd to the disting.

Lovely sounds! How do you get the mimitec to progress slowly through the steps when your bpm is really fast?
@LeeCantare3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The MD is clocked at a different (slower) rate than the kick drum. The MD also has a Stop/Run toggle. When stopped, you can step through each step manually.
