Thank you for the video, very informational wish I watched it before I went solar. Through Tesla I recently got a 9.02kw and 2 PW3’s installed dec. 2024 under nem3.0 and currently waiting for final inspection and PTO. Most of my energy usage is at night charging ev about 18kwh mon-fri, hoping not to get a high tru up, will exporting during high export pay backmonths aug-sept and doing Tesla VPP help?

Thanks for watching and congratulations on getting solar! If possible, I would charge your car during the day if you’re home. Your batteries can store 27 kWh and if you charged your car every night Monday-Friday, you would only have 9 kWh to provide your home power until your system starts generating the next day, unless your storage solution took into consideration the EV charging already. The overproduction in the summer can’t/wont offset winter months of underproduction under NEM 3 because of the new net billing on a monthly basis. If you do get true up bills every month due to car charging, consider the fact that it’s still likely less expensive than filling up an ICE vehicle with fuel. I hope this helps!

With gas currently around $3 a gallon at the moment (10/13/24) it costs basically the same as gas to drive 12,500 miles if you consider the $0.35/kWh.

If the general public actually knew what the CPUC did they would go full torches and pitchforks. To recap: in April 2023 the CPUC let utilities steal our free California sunshine energy (via rooftop solar) solely to secure future profit margins - by switching to NEM3.0 formulas that eliminate credit for excess solar which ironically helps supports their grid at peak. NEM3’s prime directive is to protect profits by destroying all incentives from their biggest competitor - the sun ☀️
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen 3 ай бұрын
Your recap is accurate. I went to rallies with fellow solar companies and employees to fight the CPUC and give public statement for them to reconsider, but testimony and statements fell on already decided deaf ears. What a shame.

I HAD MY SOLAR SYSTEM installed last year under NEM 2.0 just under the deadline. I was smart and had received permission to put in 70% more panels than what I currently need and got approval for it. I just had to say I was going to get a EV & change to Electric Appliances. Also, remember to rinse off your panels once a month to get the best solar production. I've noticed a 11% increase in electric production after. (I'm not paying some guy $200 to clean them) Just by rinsing my panels with a high-pressure water hose in the morning. FYI - The electric company owed me over $2k in my 1st True-Up. I'm not paying $20k+ for batteries that will have to be replaced in 10 years.

You were smart to over size your system in preparation and anticipation of increased usage down the road. I did that a lot for homeowners who were getting in under the deadline as well.

When did you get solar? That’s not good! Have you checked to see if your system is producing energy? MCE is a third party generation company that you’re still enrolled with. You have always settled with them on a monthly basis since going solar. Are you under NEM 2 or NEM 3?

or about 36.5MPG assuming cost of gas is about $3.5 per gallon. 12,515 miles / 36.5MPG = 342.8 gallons of gas * $3.5 per gallon = $1200.

Let’s have a discussion, you are paid by both sunrun and sun power, I can’t trust your word for it. Also everyone that has your system installed complains of still getting electric bills and having water leaks due to poor installation. I think brainstorming the process would been better before selling these products because it’s not providing any convenience

@Jaimie Greene, I have a gas furnace heater and my utility bill shows how much our thrm usage is in addition to electricity usage. Does interval data include both? Trying to understand interval data. Also one contractor told me I need a 5kw system and another tells me I need a 10kw system. My home is 2632 sqft, two story and I get sunshine all day. How do I know how much solar I need?
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen 7 ай бұрын
Hi Jeff, feel free to reach out for a thorough solar consultation and proposal for your home. Those are huge differences from what one sales rep from another is proposing. I’m happy to help you make sure you get the right system size. When you go to download your interval data, you should be able to download just electricity data and if you go to the date range, it will download hourly interval data, which is what is needed to determine how much energy you use after the sun goes down. This helps determine the storage size you need. Hope this helps!

Hey question so I got solar panels and a battery with powur company the city inspector came pass it but the city fire marshal fail me on the battery being to low to the ground inside the garage so she said go higher or install ground barrier of course I when higher after that is been 2 months apparently solar company keeps telling me they are waiting on the fire department for the re-issuance/approval and it takes 4 to 6 weeks what are my options here keep waiting perhaps few more weeks or do I look into contacting legal advice? Since I did paid in full I feel like company got paid so doesn’t matter no more but the problem for me is that I have a system that doesn’t pass inspection so is useless to me right ? Should I wait more ?
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen 8 ай бұрын
I’m familiar with Powur, unfortunately. You have to wait for the fire inspection to pass before your project can be submitted to the utility company for PTO. Their subcontractor should have known the requirements for battery installation inside a garage. Are you in California?
@lilboy32367
@lilboy32367 8 ай бұрын
@@jaimegreenethesolarqueen yes here in Los Angeles California we been frustrated cause it hasn’t pass inspection, the battery was move up 36 inches from ground on the month of February, powur told me they resubmitted on 4/2 last month so they told me to wait 4 to 6 weeks perhaps even 8 weeks I’m getting a little concerned here I keep waiting they keep blaming fire department for taking long , my other concern is that when this system got installed they left it on which I know it shouldn’t be on until I get ok by Edison right ? What the installers told me was we leaving it on cause Edison forgets to send some one to turn it on or forgets to tell you to turn it on so since January is been on and I feel like I’m going to pay in fines for this
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen 8 ай бұрын
@lilboy32367 I feel you! They’re notorious for blaming others and not taking responsibility. It can take that much time for the fire inspection. You could also try calling the fire department inspector and see if they can check and bump you up. And yes, installers sometimes leave the system on. They shouldn’t, but sometimes they will or leave it on standby and then remotely turn it on. One big tip for you, request your plan set and find out who the subcontractor is on the permit set and who did the actual installation. I hope they get this finalled soon for you! But they, Powur, is obligated to ensure it passes inspection and gets turned on by Edison. Feel free to email me directly if you have additional concerns and questions.

I was told that in order to get solar panels, I would need to upgrade my 100amp main panel to 200 amp? Is this really necessary or is there another work around?
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen
@jaimegreenethesolarqueen 8 ай бұрын
Feel free to schedule a solar appointment with me if you’d like another look at what you’re working on for your home and getting solar. :). www.jaimegreenethesolarqueen.com. Yes, it’s likely you need to upgrade your service panel to 200 amps, especially if you have a Federal Pacific Electric panel, Zinsco panel, or Challenger Panel. But it’s also necessary if the solar system’s backfeed requirements exceed what’s available in your existing electrical panel.
