Lyric-wise, this is great! Even though she's knows that things aren't right and is eager to make changes, she lacks the wisdom to make the right changes and is afraid of making things worse, and the little wisdom she does have comes from her father, the man who maintaining the status quo and the man who raised her. How can she know what to do to help her people? How can she stand up to Magnifico while still being able to say that she loves him? It's great! As a vocalist, you're a little shouty and off-key at points, but you have potential. Can't wait to see the full thing. God bless and help.

woah I LOVE magnifico being her father! It gives her choice to go against him more stakes and emotion!! And i love the conflict here of loving her dad but also her people. I'm also so glad u got rid of lyrics that made her sound kinda like a jerk ("I know I'm not wrong" etc) and were too vague ("to have something more than this") man I could go on and on! Oh! And your head voice is so prettyyyy Couple questions! Is she supposed to become a royal advisor? I thought that line was interesting! And is the star she wishes on one she and her father are familiar with somehow?? Why did she call it "that star"? THIS IS SO FUN AHHH

I love this!! The story hooked me and the flashback got me emotional! This was my favorite Disney song ever since I was little, and I’m so happy to see an animatic with it! I love your OC, he reminds me of Kirishima!

If Disney really wanted to make Magnifico a good villain, he would have been taking people's wishes from day one in order to consume them and become a powerful sorcerer As it is, Magnifico doesn't even seem that bad until he just snaps in the middle of the movie, going insane because he feels underappreciated. He had a decent backstory, wanting to create a city refuge for everyone--which he did. I did think it was suspicious that citizens were just okay with giving him their wishes, but no one complained and everyone seemed happy--except Asha. The movie could have easily been about Asha causing chaos in the town by granting everyone's wishes, and then Magnifico has to fix everything. I think that would have actually been interesting. But the writers wouldn't let Asha be in the wrong. I do also like the idea of people hiding in a forest so Magnifico can't take their wishes. That probably would have been the best setup for this movie.

Pretty great video, but you left out something that was in the art book when discussing Star: there’s one particular version (specifically the third draft) where Starboy was later revealed to be a spirit of Asha’s grandfather who died in that version. So I imagine that romance probably didn’t cross their minds either way because… that would imply inc*st… but they could’ve easily fixed that and yet they didn’t.

You know, what's funny is that that original draft with King Magnifio that Geeky brought up in the video? The one where he was an evil tyrant stealing the wishes from his subjects and Asha was living in a hidden hamlet in the forest? If they had gone with that version of the story, it would have fixed at least half the problems with this movie. The confusing and convoluted wish system? The fact that the movie doesn't do a good job clarifying why having your wish gone in the long run is a bad thing? No one recognizing that not everyone is going to get their wish granted until the movie has to happen? Asha unintentionally coming across as selfish and entitled? The writing being unable to decide if Magnifico is supposed to be sympathetic or not? Yeah, all that's gone. Kaput. So many issues could have been avoided if they just kept the original setup.

While I like that Star is adorable and huggable, I'm now curious as to what a romance between Star and Asha would've been like, if he were human. However, in the final version of the movie, Star's gender wasn't specified, although my mom thought it was female. She thought it was OK, and I thought it was cute. I'd have to ask my sister what she thought. But there are plenty of other Disney movies that I still prefer, my favorite from the Princess Collection being Beauty and the Beast, and my favorite Disney/Pixar movie being Toy Story.

I legitimately wonder why on earth Disney themselves would go out of their way to turn what I think would be a successful movie into a cash grab? The only explanation I got is to cause layoffs to make way for AI.

I really like the theory that this duet was actually a quartet, part of it being sung by asha and star boy and part of it being sung by magnífico and amaya; it would still lead to it being sung through a selfless view and a selfish view

I’m not the first one to say this, but Wish is becoming this generations The Thief and the Cobbler. Both films got screwed over by higher ups and the people who see the potential in these movies are doing their best to bring the original vision to life. Also can’t wait for your rewrite, and please take all the time you need, you’re practically making a short movie.

Star Boy and Asha should have been a couple. Also have Magnifico not have any magic at first until he kidnaps Star Boy. Have him be a vain douchey king who later becomes a god when he captures him.

Maybe in the production they did plan to have Starboy and Asha have a romance but don’t talk about it in the interviews and art book to hide it because they think it would make Asha look weak. To quote Goliath from Gargoyles; ”Only someone like you could see love as a weakness”.

My best bet is if star boy stayed him and Asha would have just been friends, leaving the fandom to ship them. So with no star boy and wish being garbage, people still did what the fandom would have dose and shipped them, it’s just fandom stuff like usually

According to the avtual boice actors that was never keant to happen, but according to the original demo version of at all costs and the animatic of actual star and asha by Disney, which they did before they hired Debosse and all the other vas they were indeed love interests, also according to the guys that made the concwpt art you can see that some of them shipp the two together... So yeah. It's very hard to tell which one is telling the truth...

Yeah I agree, that deleted scene where starboy holds Asha’s hand and the two just longingly staring at each other doesn’t seem very platonic lol (especially how them staring at each other was very emphasised in that part of the scene) but yeah I do wish (no pun intended) that the people who worked on wish will speak up about this theorised romance between Asha and starboy and if the two were ever meant to hypothetically be romantic they’d be so cute, silly dorky guy x mature stern girl?
