Farewell Wanderlust - OC Animatic [[FLASHING WARNING]]

Well, this one was a long time coming.
The Amazing Devil has become a new favorite artist of mine. All their music is really great, and it was thanks to a friend showing me "Farewell Wanderlust" that I initially discovered. It's also where I initially got the idea to make this animatic!
The story in this one involves Seraphina, the daughter of a nobleman of the summer court of the fae, and Fortunato, a vagabond faerie bard who's well known for being a miscreant and a romantic. And as one can guess, the two of them end up meeting and falling in love. I might make an animatic in the future of how they first met some time in the future if I have the energy haha.

These two’s dynamic is off the charts, like they seem to enjoy each others company so much, and both the dove girl’s determination, and the bird mask dude’s upbeat and joyous attitude pair so well together to make them just such a duo!!! (Idk any of their names but boy did I get real invested in them real fast!!!)

I love this animation style, I love the way you've done it and I love the song but I think you've missed the point of the song, its about two people who aren't happy, they are just using each other as rebounds as their lives fall apart "our gods have abandoned us" so there is a bit of tonal dissonance, it is not a happy song. also I see what you've done with making the actions match up to what the characters are doing in the animation however if you actually listen they are describing each others actions for part of the song, for example when you have seraphina transform into a bird, the song is the female lead describing what the male lead is like, and with the "come devil come" lines that is the woman speaking and the man is saying what she is speaking. again not trying to neg you or make you think that your animation is bad, its great, it just really bugged me when it seemed like you had fundamentally missed the point of the song and tried to make it some happy thing, love your work and def subbing tho

that's the whole beauty of the song, it is a story of two fundamentally flawed people hooking up also I'm confused because the you got "come devil come" right? and then you had Fortuna using the woman's voice for describing herself? also a thing I remembered rewatching this because it is really good is that with the "when you make a mistake my feet lift from the floor" is that that's the male lead talking about how he is vindictive and enjoys being others suffering however doesn't like that he feels good about it

I'm not here to say you're entirely wrong that the animatic misses the point of the song. But I will say that I'm at least aware of the original meaning, don't worry. The beauty of art is being able to reinterpret things to make the end product work. I have plans to try and make a full series of animatics telling the story of these two(set to the other songs from "The Horror and the Wild") so one day I might have the full story up to give context for what's going on here exactly. It's been a bit since I originally made the Farewell Wanderlust portion, but I think my interpretation of the song at the time was more along the lines of "We've both got our problems and demons, so to hell with the people in our lives trying to make us be who we're not." Fortunato's been demonized by the society he lives in because he was born out of wedlock to a musician mother who was also rumored to be an escort, and despite his accomplishments as a talented bard, people of the upper crust refuse to see him as anything more than "That bastard child of some glorified prostitute that could play good music." And Seraphina's been made to feel ashamed of who she is because she's the daughter of a noble family, and who she is (a free spirited and adventurous almost tomboy of a girl a la Merida from Brave) doesn't fit the mold of what her family wants her to be. While it didn't end up being about two terrible people using each other as a rebound while their lives fall apart, what it did end up being about is two teens that have both been made to feel unfavorable or unlovable by society deciding "To hell with them"... while it FEELS like their lives are falling apart lol.

@@GeekyVanDerWeeky fair enough, I was probably just misinterpreting the nature of the animations as they felt rather jovial, and you can admit that if someone wasn't paying attention to the whole lyrics or tune it could read as a very happy song, what's your favourite song from the amazing devil? btw def subbing.

That I can admit haha. My fav song is a hard one to answer. It's probably between Welly Boots and That Unwanted Animal. Both great songs that evoke some pretty gnarly emotions in me haha.
