You lost me with your mis-characterization of socialism.
@zaharous4 жыл бұрын
I have no care or concern about whether any socialist or free market system is better. It may be hard for some in the western world to comprehend but a large segment of Kyrgyzstani society has a great deal of nostalgia for Soviet times. Following independence Kyrgyzstan experienced massive economic and industrial collapse and today while the economy is much better than it was in the 1990s, the world 'Soviet' is ironically used as in advertising as a byword for quality. It was not my intention to promote any sort of ideology during the creation of this film but rather to underline the fact that Kyrgyzstan is very much an aggregate of its long and multifaceted cultural and social history.

This is shirk. It bring to hell you Insha Allah. You are musrik.( worship fire)
@zaharous6 жыл бұрын
Abdul Malik, thank you for your comment but Kyrgyz do not worship fire , there is no Kyrgyz I met who worshiped fire and I lived in Kyrgyzstan almost four years. Many Kyrgyz however do think that burning Archa is good for the health, cleans the air and some believe that it scares away evil spirits. From an objective standpoint there is absolutely no worship of fire and most Kyrgyz are Muslims in any case.

I speak Turkish, would the Kygyz understand some words or expressions?
@zaharous6 жыл бұрын
It often takes some adjustment for Kyrgyz in the south to understand Kyrgyz in the north or vice-versa. Turkish and Kyrgyz have many words in common and it is easy for Kyrgyz to learn Turkish or vice-versa.
@theartnur24866 жыл бұрын
hullcityafc72 Hi bro Im kyrgyz! What about you talking? We have a lot of common words all count is in turkic countries the same. Music is Russian?
@zaharous7 жыл бұрын
It is very Russian, the song is called 'Proshaniye Slavyanki' but the song is also played often during military parades in Kyrgyzstan today. One of the ideas of the film is that while Kyrgyzstan has its own unique experience it also shares much with other former Socialist Soviet Republics.

A Kirgiz respects every religion and culture. Our culture is build on love not hate thats why we dont disrespect each other. If there is someone who can think he can come here and disrespect someone infront of a kirgiz he will teach him respect.

Central Asia is quite different from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, places either home to Wahhabism or Salafism or at least facing its threat. During the Soviet Union a lot of Central Asian Muslims became atheists, some only on paper and some genuinely. Basically nobody kills anyone who leaves Islam in Central Asia, sometimes Russians become Muslims too, but that is rare. People are people, regions may differ but there is hardly any religious fanaticism in Central Asia today.

zaharous Afghanistan is in Central Asia
@zaharous7 жыл бұрын
Pomegranate Anaar, no doubt about that, you are right. However a lot of people disagree about where to place Afghanistan, some place it in 'South West Asia' and others in 'The Middle East'. Some even place Kashmir and Mongolia in Central Asia. The whole idea about my documentary was to get the general idea across to people unfamiliar with but interested in the region, thus I ignored certain philosophical/ontological questions that I felt were peripheral to the main idea. Thanks for the comment )))))))

Burning archa is not Religion and Retual is just fucking stupid tradition
@zaharous8 жыл бұрын
Brother in a way you are correct, religion is a social construct much like the general phenomenon of culture, weather or not it is religion or not depends what the purposes of Alas or Issyrik are conceived to be and what religion is conceived to be, after decades of squabbling uptight and dogmatic scholars have not been able to arrive at a consensus about what religion actually is. But it is not my prerogative to criticize it. I love the Kyrgyzstani people, they are but a stones throw away from my own, they are good people.
@tolgonai90427 жыл бұрын
well, burning archa is not stupid - it's cleaning the house. It's not good to say so even if is not right as of Islam - not all Kyrgyzs are Muslims. On the contrary, I remember that before 2000-s, Preislamic (Tengirchilik) beliefs and customs were stronger than Islam.
