Nothing much wrong with Mckay. Apart from being Scottish of course....

Well, I'm 54 and this is the first time i've seen this programme and it only came up because i was born in Stafford and typed it in the search bar yesterday to see what my home town is like now.

I'm sure someone's already said it, but Fletch must have been really in his head about paying for the wedding or someone as canny as him would have known full well that £500 for a "Peripheral roll" is £500 to play the part of "That's him your honour, that's the mastermind of the whole thing". Repeat offender, on probation, desperate for the money for his daughter's sudden wedding? he's the perfect fall man. Any judge would look as his record, and the circumstances and throw the book, the shelf and the rest of the library at him.

"She's found another man, dad" turned out to be tempting fate I suppose.

23:40 onwards - the best portrayal of a flashback that I've ever seen. And the best portrayal of somebody suddenly seeing sense. "Err - no, no. Only I can do that."

I love how in 70s an employment officer can guilt trip you about living off women and then tell you you'll take what you can get. Good times when society expected men to support their families

Not a big fan of British humor. Watched a few episodes of Open all hours. Just realized the guy on here is the same guy as the store owner. Arkwright or some such thing. just younger.

Open all hours (not even David Jason could save) and Porridge remakes were so bad. Not even remotely close in style or comedy. Goes to show how good Barker was. Nothing he did ever succeeded after him. Including Corbet.

As both an ex-Army and ex-Correctional Officer myself, Fletcher's comment that ‘Your loyalty isn’t rewarded … you’re just a number" rang very true. After 10 years and 19 years of service respectively, I left with barely a thank you.

Dick Clements..wrote some funny telly. Had a great writing partner too. Took the mantle from Galton and Simpson...great sitcom duo. Tragic only 6 episodes of Porridge and 6 of going straight were made. His best role ,Ronnie Barker .. porridge could have run for years ...aged better than say the goodlife. To the mannor born .funnier than only fools n horses...by a country mile ...dont repeat many others from the timeframe
