I get it, Chloe was a mean girl and a bully, but he gave the main villain, Hawk Moth, a grown man, who put so many lives in danger, redemption. He gave Chloe’s abusive mom a redemption, he gave Adrien’s cousin who sabotaged him a redemption. But not Chloe even thought she could’ve been forgiven

This game is making Pricefield shippers face a very harsh reality. Max destroyed a town, including Chloe's mom. We wanted Max and Chloe to go off and have a happy life together, but how is that going to happen.? Max showed a strong tendency towards guilt. Chloe will feel obligated to stay with Max and that will tend to poison her feelings for Max.

Never thought about the outcome of Max/Chloes relationship in the save Chloe ending in the way you described. Just had been of the mindset that they would have a healthy relationship. Looking at it from your pov though, I agree that it most likely would either be toxic or unhealthy in the ways you described in real setting. Either way even if they aren’t together in this game I do hope Chloe makes an appearance and the two are on good terms and at the minimum that both are healthy.

loving this so far but even in the 90s she was always 14 they never aged her down, im not sure where you got that from as she always introduced herself as a 14 year old middle school student. I'm gonna guess that your conclusion was drawn from her saying she's in middle school. What I've noticed from watching a variety of anime and other shows is that if a character is a 14 year old middle schooler they're in junior high (grades 7-9) if they say they're a 10th grader and a freshman they also went to junior high. for most westerners we're in middle school (grades 5/6-8). Its done differently in other countries even other states. They're the same but I just wanted to help differentiate junior high and middle school as there tends to be a difference.

Thank you for the correction!! I made most of my sailor moon videos when I was actively watching the series so I didn’t really do any fact checking on facts I thought I was sure of. I could’ve sworn she said she was 13. I watched the dub, so maybe they changed it? I don’t know, I’d have to check. But I appreciate the correction :)

The eternal movies were very disappointing because they didn’t do the manga justice. The filler episodes of the 90s anime did well for the villains but not for the heroes (I get that the Sailor Senshi were meant to be more relatable to the audience in the 90s anime but the episodes revolved around Usagi, Rei, Chibiusa, Minako, etc can either be entertaining or annoying depending on the episode).

Right! They could’ve either did 3-4 movies for each arc, or just made seasons all the way through. So much kept happening at one time and it gets hard to keep up bc every 15 minutes, someone either gets a power up, like in eternal, or someone dies, and they just skip a few days like nothing happened in cosmos. It was a rush job. And the thing that bothers me the most is the inconsistency in art style bc I loved the close manga resemblance personally, then they kept moving to look closer to the original anime when it’s supposed to be its own things. Transformations and attacks looked good but like soulless copies of the course material instead of something of love note to devoted fans. I will say I didn’t like the cgi transformations tho. Those could’ve been better but the series was rushed overall. Season 3 had more polish but too much flair if that makes sense. I loved the lack of stock footage and original animations for attacks in the first 2 seasons. I just wish we had a more faithful adaptation overall instead of a reskin of the 90s version, which I love with all my heart. But crystal was supposed to be a different entity overall and I blame the fans for putting too much pressure on the animators for nostalgia, but I blame the animators for not standing in business bc people were going to watch it regardless.
@melonpeach97232 ай бұрын
1:20 they actually have a three year age gap. Sailor Moon was in 8th grade, (13-14) and Mamarou was in 11th grade. (16-17) Important to remember here that High School is years 10-12 in Japan.

The main thing i didnt like about the movies is something you brought up, I don't really like how a lot of the scenes feel empty and you dont feel much from them. Even in the cosmos and eternal movies, the bad guys die very fast one after another and you dont get much time to know them, or how the girls feel about anything going on. In the 90s there is a scene where Minako is upset her heart crystal hasn't been stolen and then it almost does and she realizes that she was wrong in the end.

It was nice to see episode 42 dubbed into English finally and have it in with the rest of season 1 in a set. The DIC dub skipped it probably because it was too violent or maybe the crush on an older man who has a girlfriend thing. It’s one of my favourite episodes from S1 and I’m glad you covered it.
@Mitsu20402 ай бұрын
I like the fillers because they give us more information about the characters. In Crystal, the other senshi are basically merged into a single entity. I can't count the times they all each yell "Usagi!" one after the other. They all fight and fall together and if one was missing, you wouldn't even know it.
@Blazinginsquids2 ай бұрын
That’s definitely part of the reason I liked the 90s more. Despite its flaws, at least you could differentiate the character’s personalities more.
@JuneieBack2 ай бұрын
All the show needed was five 26-episode seasons. The manga even had side stories for them to animate like Casablanca Memory and the Exam Battle stories. Why they didn't do that and then eventually made movies baffles me. I couldn't even finish Cosmos because it felt so rushed in the beginning. I was very upset.
@cajah882 ай бұрын
I mean... you remove all the side stories and "what ifs" from the manga and focus solely on the main storyline, and you'll quickly realize that it, too, is very rushed, especially during the Stars arc where the main cast is killed off very quickly. The 90s anime did a lot of heavy lifting, tbh.
@JuneieBack2 ай бұрын
@@cajah88 Yep. And what annoyed me the most when first read the manga was that they got their new eternal forms only for them to be killed off so quickly in the end. I was hoping that we would have at least gotten a season one ending like in the original anime where when calls on the power of the crystals, they appear with her and combine their powers but no that was just put in the intro. The arc that is paced the best is the third one. They could've just added more episodes each season so that we could have some character development at least. In the first season especially, they actively removed some of the characters’ quirks, personality traits, and specific moments just so almost every conversation between them was about how amazing Usagi was.

Glad this is brought up, the fillers MADE the 90's anime so much more enjoyable to watch. Watching all of Crystal made me realize that Naoko isn't a very good storywriter, even the main crew I found to be boring to watch at times.
@Shamazya2 ай бұрын
I agree with most of what you're saying but it's not what I typically think of as filler. For me filler is truly inconsequential to the story. It doesn't add characterization or progress the plot. But that's something almost exclusive to adaptations specifically because of the need to not write yourself into a corner. I'm not sure what else I'd call it though? To me it's just a pacing issue. Character and world building are as important to the story as the core plotline.
@johnsentanjaya57512 ай бұрын
no need any filler for me... that was already good as it is, what made me bored with 90s version was too many bunch of unnecessary fillers which also force them to altered the story become so lame and waste of time

@@BullseyeRey I did some digging and you're kinda right. Rei's grandpa first appeared in act 5 during the dark kingdom arc, but didn't appear in Crystal. Maybe 90s anime Grandpa is from her other parent's family who also owns a shrine, but they're both pervy anyway 😅
@a.t.trujillo99702 ай бұрын
Also we don't need to cut out filler to make the season be better we just need to make the filler more impactful like if the filler developed their characters more it actually works and isn't bad like back in the 90s anime and like season for I think I could be getting a wrong basically it's a seasoning with Neptune and Uranus like the episode where amio deals with her problems and how she feels like all she's good at is studying like that makes us care for her and in the actual season where that would have happened in Crystal we don't get that at all because we're too focused on finding the big bad guy that is like can we relax can we have fun sometimes can we just have a developer characters episodes where characters don't have to be advancing the plot I do think this movie is a really good movie I just wish it was an actual series because there are so many good things in this movie that I feel like would have been even better if we had like a season for this also I'm sorry if I misspelled her name oops

As a fellow Sailor Moon fan I find myself agreeing a lot with this video. Paradoxically, the two incarnations of the Sailor Moon stories have the polar opposite problem bringing them down. In my opinion The classic anime it's really bad at having any sense on continuity. The main characters never develop in a consistent arc and even redeemed villeins the likes of the Amazon Trio never stick around beyond their redemption. This makes the show really lack any sense of tangible progress, much to its determent The manga/remakes instead it's TOO fast, even if what happens on screen is always interesting, the fact that the vast majority of the casts only has a very surface level characterization makes it very hard to actually feel moved by their struggles, be it personal or against the baddies, at least most of the time.
@grace190052 ай бұрын
I disagree with something : the 90's anime and the reboot/manga don't have the same plot at all. It's VASTLY different. The 90's anime changed the plot for each season : the characters are the same but the stories and their fates are completely different from the manga. I wouldn't say they have the same premise and that the 90's anime added filler to make it more fleshed out, the 90's anime completely changed the story and also added filler in the process. It didn't add anything to the manga story.
@Blazinginsquids2 ай бұрын
That’s honestly completely fair. I was mostly saying they’re the same as in adapting the same basic story (Ie, the dead moon circus arc being the same concept at its core), but you’re right, they really are different in their own approaches

I'm an old SM fan. I remember back in the early 2000's when I was in middle school and used to love visiting shrines dedicated to SM and my favorite characters or when I would look around message forums. One of the most common complaints I remember reading was about the filler. Not the quality of the filler, but the fact that there was filler at all. It kind of planted a seed in my head that filler was always a bad thing. It wasn't until I read the manga that I started to rethink that, and by the time Crystal came out it really solidified the idea that filler was one of the most important aspect of the 90's anime that I missed.

Not to be the "erm, actually...🤓☝🏽" of the situation, but a thing people may have not notice is that the REAL self insert of Astruc, is actually Marinette's father, Tom. Because if you go to read Astruc's tweets you'll find one where he says that Marinette's mother is based on her ex gf who had chinese origins. And if you look at Tom, doesn't he kinda look-a-like Astruc? And also the way he's so defensive towards Marinette's despicable actions? And the fact that she's a Mary Sue? Think about it. My conclusion, your honor, is that Marinette is Astruc's virtual child created to fullfill his sad, lonely heart because "He's misunderstood... And everyone is so mean to me" self, man child who clearly did not and will not improve as a creator

Happy 18th birthday internet microcelebrity 🫡 Honestly, from an outsider's view who's only familiarity with this discourse is this very video your take of "slutshaming disguised as karmic justice" was spot on from the getv go. The specific critiques you showed just feel like an attempt to moralize about how people are personally evil for not fitting into a certain box. Especially with the takes showed here it's like there's an explicit focus on enacting specific solutions for the sake of it rather than it even being about fixing the problem anymore. The topic here seems especially shitty tbh because the negative consequences of just talking down to people who are hurt by STDs or sexual trauma are some of the most direct and painful. The Internet is the last place to be expecting positive discourse at this point but it still sucks a lot to see. This was a good video overall though, and it's cool to see more serious topics being tackled alongside the media analysis you post as well. Thank you for the vid!
