I really hate a lot of the public reaction to the doc because they are so many people who are buying into this 'everyone in Hollywood is a disgusting perv' narrative and accusing all sorts of people of enabling or participating in these behaviors. Like a producer from Nickelodeon who left before Schneider was even hired, he was asked to be in the doc under false pretenses and left the set when the interviewer suddenly asked him about the allegations because he felt ambushed. Instead of thinking critically, people are saying he *has* to have some unearthed allegations of misconduct himself. Unsubstantiated rumors made by joe shmoe on the internet dilute the real experiences of real people into nothing more than gossip and its gross.

I definitely agree, as much as it’s been normalized in Hollywood I think the mindset that everyone in the industry has some kind of ties to that kind of behavior is really dangerous. There’s a lot more nuance to the discussion than most people are willing to give it

I’m glad we’re seeing people talk more about the entertainment industry and how horrific it is, especially for kids and minorities, but it’s disappointing (not shocking though) how people online are talking about other 😔

I’m currently in film school to work in the entertainment industry and my professors have been showing a lot of documentaries about the dark side of the industry including Quiet on Set. Hollywood needs a serious reform and how we view people in the industry does too. Edit: this is not to downplay or discredit the victims, I just wanted to say that there’s a lot of exploitation in the entertainment industry and I’m glad there are documentaries that talk about it in general

Can you recommend other documentaries?

Any industry where kids are present, there will be a need for more regulation, reform and protection of children and that includes churches or religious institutions. The SA of adults in work is so prevalent it’s scary and revolting.
