I’ve been an Orange guy for a while, but I must say this sounds really good! Is it called super bass specifically because it has more low end compared to the super lead? Most Orange like the Rockerverb and the OR serie has a lot of low end too, would you say they are similar?
@floydsvintageguitargear4721Ай бұрын
@levillageglobal Hi, it's the Super Bass model and it's got bottom end for days. I have owned a few Orange amps and I find the tone is very different to the Marshalls. The Marshall is a clean monster where the Orange sounds a little more compressed in a good way that brings out the mids more. The Marshall Suoer Bass is the purest tone around in my opinion. 😎

I was born in '82 & there is one of these selling close to me. I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on it. After researching the Norlin era Les Pauls, I must commend your description of what separates these guitars from other eras. Dean DeLeo (one of my all-time favorite players) has championed the oft-maligned Norlins too. He has several. Nice playing too. Your tone mimics Gibbons flawlessly.
@floydsvintageguitargear47212 ай бұрын
@timvanrooy9665 grab it if you can. Best Les Paul's ever and a great future investment in my opinion. Dean Deleo is a master of tone, in my top 3 all time great guitar tones!

Hi, my settings on all Fender amps are volume 6, Treble 4.5, Mids 4, Bass between 3 and 4 depending on the room. I use a reverb pedal so reverb and Tremolo are on zero. Good luck, I hope these settings work for you. Kindest regards Kevin

@floydsvintageguitargear47213 ай бұрын
@camdog301 bright switch on. With Fender amps the more you push the volume the more the bass delivers. At 6 on the volume and bass switch down the amp will fart out. The louder you push the more Treble is your friend 👍

Exactly. Pure bass headroom. I've been using vintage Tweed Bassman amps for years to get that sound which is close, but the Super Bass is what I think could be the missing link. I would never be able to play it in my neighborhood. My neighbors have put up with cranked Tweed Bassmans for 20 years now. They would have tolerated the Super Bass for about a week I think. I don't understand the Marshall guys that want to get the super gainy crunchy sound. That is not the beautiful clean sound of the vintage monsters.
@floydsvintageguitargear47213 ай бұрын
Tweed Bassmans are absolutely awesome amps, I have one and I love it. You nailed it though, lots of guitarists see a Marshall stack in a metal music video and think they are distortion monsters but the opposite is true. They have the loudest, sweetest and most versatile clean tones ever. The Bassman is a more usable amp in the real world but of you don't like your neighbors and want them to move, the Marshall Super Bass through a matching 4x12 cab will sort that for you in no time at all. Cheers 😎

Terrific sounds brother!! About 12 years ago.my wife brought home a 'guitar amp thing' one day... a neighbor was moving and was getting rid of it or it was going in the garbage. Turns out it was a 69 BMR head. needed a couple tubes. I built a cab for it. popped in a couple 12" Jensens. Holy Smoke! wth?? all told I spent less than $100 on getting it up and running. I LOVE THIS THING!! Im seriously considering trying my hand building a 'Leslie' just to see how it would sound.

Nice video. FYI - The original Vibroverb 63 was the first fender amp with Reverb, not Tremolo. I also think the Bassman RI from this same era was a great RI. That was actually the first RI, followed by the VVRI shortly after.

But you don’t need to go deaf, or rely on pedals to get that tone. Just turn it up to 8, take say -8db off with an attenuator, and roll down your guitar volume for cleans(just like Page did) It will still be loud, but not so loud you’re blowing out your ears and speakers, and the sound will be more organic and authentic.

My '79 Dual Showman is pretty sweet. I run it with 2 power tubes like a concert/bandmaster for the 50 watts. Vibrato is sublime; I leave it on, plugging a Hammond M3 into it, and skipping the Leslie for the on/off, slow/fast buttons built in.

Please use a Guitar-strap, your enthusiasm is fantastic but we don't want to see that " repairing a LP p90 goldtop" video. All I know is that the " Super-bass" head has a very well designed EQ which I am told is different to the Lead Guitar series of heads. When you open her up show us the EQ wiring, it would be nice, thanks.

@floydsvintageguitargear47219 ай бұрын
Hi, unfortunately I sold the Princeton a while ago so can do a side by side comparison. I would say the biggest difference would ne a Princeton is a one trick pony while the Boogie can achieve lots of different tones. The Boogie also has a lot more power. I hope this helps. Regards
