I got a question. ( I am working on a ford f-150 5.0 2014) How did you get your cam caps and shift out??. I have seen some videos that they have the valve system completely out of the engine to get to end of the shift

So you managed low 8's from a stock gen2 with just springs? No OPG or oil pump gear? I have a 93 LX Coupe with a gen 2 truck motor, 6R80, circle d 3200 stall, twin precision 6266 t4's. I should have input by spring. I think I'm just going to run it on 93 octane with 10-12 psi. Ls or not those are nice builds. Don't be too tough on the poor guy 😂

Great video and information, sir. Let me ask you I have a 2011 50 and my driver side has low compression. How can I tell if I’ve been a valve or jump time? Thank you sir.
@crusadergarage298
@crusadergarage298 Ай бұрын
You would have to do a timing check while it’s running to see if the computer and the engine are reading the same timing to see if it’s jumped. For a bent valve you probably would have to put a bore scope camera in the cylinder and see if you can see the valve seated fully, or pull the head and valve out. 🤷

Good video. I wish I had found your video before I narrowed my 8.8. Went through a similar process. One thing I did do that worked out well for me when cutting the old ends off was to square off of the blade and drill holes in the saw base so I could use u bolts to attach the saw to the axle tubes. It was solid. No movement whatsoever. The ends came out nice and square. It's in my video "Cutting down the Ford 8 8 differential" if you are interested. Thanks.

Definitely buy the Euroexport (OG one) not the cheaper knockoffs. This tool works great. I have to do this shitty job again because my dumbass didn't do the valve stem seals the first time. I will break the job into 4 days. 8 a day just because it's repetitive and tedious and that's all you need is to have a lapse in attention and drop a retainer , lock or valve....

Do you know what’s reusable and what’s not when installing new cams and springs? Do I need new retainers, cam caps, certain hardware, anything like that? I can’t find it online
@crusadergarage298
@crusadergarage298 10 ай бұрын
I bought new retainers with the springs. I re used the same locks. Stock cam caps are fine. You will have to buy new cam cap bolts. They are torque to yield. So I went ahead and bought the ARP ones because you can reuse them, and they aren’t that much more expensive

I was thinking about swapping Ford 8.8 axles into a Suzuki Samurai. Hopefully, this will somewhat increase stability just haven't decided to use ranger/explorer factory width or to go short side/short side width or long side/long side width. Or if I should just go with Ford 9 inch axles. I will also be stretching the wheelbase at least 1"-2" and will be using 30" or 35" tires. What do you think? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just try doing one with the motor in the car. But I didn’t add air and the retainer wont pop out any other way to do it?
@crusadergarage298
@crusadergarage298 Жыл бұрын
Only way I’ve done it is with air to keep the valve from moving down with the spring. I’ve heard some people fill up the chamber with thick string or something but I’ve never tried that method. Without something on the back side of the valve (air/ thick string) the retainers will not come free because they valve will move up and down with the spring.

You always give a light but firm tap on top of the assembled spring and retainer before you compress it. Doing this unseats the locks a little bit and they will not stick to the valve when you push it down.

Odd question, but what is the diameter of the flange on that pump?
@crusadergarage298
@crusadergarage298 Жыл бұрын
It’s about a 4.5” diameter area in total the pump takes to mount with the screw holes and all around the flange. The pump itself needs about a 3.5” hole to go down into the tank. If that helps

Looking at buying a pro street built car here very soon and of course as you described it'll mostly be street driving so while I've seen itger options for a swing out door bar I feel this is probably the easiest in terms of fabrication work required to install on an already installed cage so I've saved it and will most definitely be ordering 1 very soon
