I would say to get some pads where the cap reaches down to the shin. To test the knee pad, put them on and hit the ground on your knees. Make sure they cap and pad is there for protection.

I just got a pair and the toe stop pins/ bolts are not counter sunk on the same side. One is on the inside and one on the outside. Is this normal?

Maybe that's a stupid question but, are the derby boots enough solid and resistants for outside skating ? I'd like to switch from dance boot to this kind of boots to dance with and increase the ankle rotation.

The skaters in derby who use hockey ones tend to be just the right height to be frequently shouldered in the head or they frequently fall. Replacing a helmet everytime you hit your head is too pricey so they opt for more durability with hockey ones.

The Falcon are 16 degree kingpin angle. The Avenger is a 45 degree kingpin. Just in case anyone else needs this info.

If your travelling backwards on one foot while the other foot is at 90 degrees this is a power slide, not a hockey stop. A hockey stop uses both feet to stop, and they are kept reasonably prarrallel throughout the complete movement. The hockey stop is double footed by default.

I have been using the Falcon+ plates for over 6+ yrs, and they are the most responsive plate I've ever skated on. I do a lot of slides and spins, and they make it effortless....I think I'm the only one in the rhythm skate community with this plate, and I don't mind. The style I skate with, this plate is perfect for me. I'm just trying to figure what plate to get for a back up pair of skates....
