Dielectric grease in those sockets will stop any further damage. It’s waterproof and made for electric connections.

Hey mate, the problem is that the hinges get full of lint and dust and they get tight to move the hinges causing them to break away from the weakest part which is the back of the screen. I noticed that you didn’t clean the hinges or lubricate them or try to fee them up. If you had one like mine that are very hard to move the hinges, how would you free them up and what lubricant would you use? I’ve particularly freed mine up using electrical silicone grease but I’m thinking of using spray graphite powder and before I tried it I wanted to get your advice on using graphite on a laptop

When I removed the motherboard I thought I was about 80% done, but was a little confused by the battery seeming to be stuck to one side of the keyboard, so I found this video.. OMG now I seem to be only 5% done.

@@nissmagie7272initially the resistance reading was 0.3 ohms so more like 0.6 volts. 1 volt would be okay though…just limit the current carefully with the Power Supply. What you don’t want to do is burn the traces before the cap pops…that would be very bad. Safer to go get the cap manually

I can tell you that the hinges kit cost €80 and €110 with shipping. The hinge caps kit cost an extra €80. I'm praying I can save mine.
