Love your content! Haven’t played my bass in 20 years which is sad. Life moves so fast. You inspired me to pick it back up and have fun again. I hope you understand how much it means to me. God bless.

Wow, what I really like is the written lines because we African we like to listen than reading music. i play saxophone and I learnt by reading music. As a music teacher I like my students to read music as well as listening. Voila!!! Well done!!!

I only realized that the bass is swung because the notation shows it (nice !). And in the comments, Richielion2 points out that the bass is swung, but the hi-hat is straight ! Can you make a video about swung vs straight 16ths ? Your videos are so good !

Too complicated for me . Not disregarding the tutorial I guess every body learns differently . What I got from the tutorial was basically where you place the notes and spacing is important and gives a different feel .

I dreamed of being a reggae bassist. This channel is so much fun for me. It is DEEP. I just love the reggae bass. When I first tried to play along with reggae, I realized how the simple sounding things are not simple they are just fitting in the right space and time. Your analysis is fantastic. Much praise to you.I especially appreciate the respect that you have for all those that came before you.

Brother Don thank you so much for your info, free PDF's, everyone has to right to add comments, but we all know some people typ without thinking and we are all diferent in receiving/emotionally etc. I have picked up so much detailed info from your KZbins, so maximum respect! Is there a way I can buy a t-shirt without paying extra custom costs for Belguim since the brexit it is ridiculous we need to pay 15 euro just for opening the package plus a tax on the estuimated valua... One Love What a journey, very impressive how you managed to study and learn those sets just overnight or in the back of the tourbus.

What's happenin Don? Have you ever played a Hofner 500/1? Obviously made famous by McCartney but I've seen few photos of Robbie jamming with one. I've never tried one myself but I hear the low end is tuff.

It's amazing how incredible it can sound, yet be so simple once a good teacher knows how to explain it. I just ran through this on my own, and was actually able to sound pretty decent! I'm inspired to find a few more chord progressions and just jam along. So much more fun to make music instead of memorizing modes and the fretboard all the time.

Roots producer here, one comment to add which I'm sure is innate to you but may not be obvious to others: listen (or feel) the kick drum pattern as that will also influence your bassline. In the drum pattern, the 1/8 pick up note on the kick before the snare has a huge impact on how this riddim grooves. Remove that kick and you have an entirely different feel. Of course if it were the other way around where the bass line came first, a good drummie is going to match his kick pattern to the bassline.
