The trains look nice other then when standing right beside them, looks too much like a massive dominating wall, though I guess thats what happens when you have an un-restrictive loading gauge I guess

Do the passengers approve of stock based on EU designs or is it 'Dangerous Socialism' I always wanted to visit this area but a few Presidents back it became harder for visitors from small UK territories to visit. Yet we let US military into our country.

I live in Salt Lake City Utah. I would love to see if the UTA Utah Transit Authority would rate? As a disabled person I have no choice but to ride public transit and I would love to see a video rating public transit systems where they meet up with other public transit systems. Most of the trains in videos 1 and 2 looked dark and not bright and unique. It's almost like the cars were cookie-cutter cutter and the cars and locomotives that had bright designs looked better than most of the other trains that you mentioned. If you could not only rate each train in the different letters but within each letter rating rate them from top to bottom and do this for all three videos?

It feels like American railroads are becoming to look like rail systems in Europe. I’m not sure if it’s a good or bad thing. New US locomotives look almost exactly like the rest of the world. Yes, I do know new trains in America are built by European manufacturers these days.

Boston has such a great potential to have an S-Bahn style system with a city center tunnel between North and South stations with the inner section having working like a subway, with the outer sections working like commuter rail.

I think the F40 that screaming in the video while coasting into the station was maybe so loud because of dynamic braking to. it needs the engine to spool up to excite the rotor winding of the motor so to slow down the train

CalTrain isn't the only recently completed electric commuter railroad in the US. RTD commuter rail in Denver began service in 2016 and runs at up to 15min frequency on the A line and 30min on the other 3 commuter lines. RTD uses Silverliner 5s in a bit different spec than SEPTA's version.

In 1965, I rode electric trains in southeast England. Those trains used a third rail to supply electricity. It must be less expensive and not such an eyesore as overhead wires.

It also puts a limit on the voltage that can be used leading to higher currents meaning you'll have more ohmic losses in the transmission line. They cause more wear, they also put kind of a limit on the speed that can be driven at. They are just not viable for modern mainline service

@@colinfitzgerald4332 One of the biggest reasons why you only see third rail nowadays in subways/underground metros. Either because A) the equipment doesnt need that much power/isnt super fast (compared to a main-line where you might see HSR/Express trains) or B) the infrastructure was already there and didn't need to be changed/upgraded

It would be nice if kamala nationalised US railways. That way less beurocracy and fighting over things like line territory or freight right of way. Also it'd make parts standardisation good for example imagine using these swiss trains on all coasts and all regional routes just shorter. Another ramble. You could put the california command in charge of all of it since they seem like the only ppl that actually want to fix americas trains

Shared Right of Way, most high speed rail trains have to slow down when entering large metro areas/areas with shared rights of way. This is not only to prevent uneccessary wear and tear on non High-Speed trackage but to also increase safety and prevent avoidable collisions/accidents

Why does that bell ring when entering the station? Its crazy that a developed country like the US still extensively uses ancient diesel hauled trains. Good to see there is change, albeit slow to electrification. Really nice looking trains! No match for the Sydney double deckers though ;)
@mrvwbug4423
@mrvwbug4423 5 күн бұрын
The bell on North American trains is to signal the movement of the train when entering/exiting stations and crossing grade crossings. It is only required on designated main lines, and some commuter railroads in the US aren't required to carry a bell, LIRR, Metro North and SEPTA all come to mind.
