I grew up with all different types of parrots I can tell these caiques are very strong and can be Realy agresive compared to other parrots so don’t let that cuteness fool you

It’s my dream to have at least one. I’ll be happy bec I know they’ll entertain me endlessly. Caiques!! My dream bird!! ( but he is overdoing it too much I think). My parakeet ( I had 2) bit the heck out of me when I first got him. It took a while but he got around to pretending to bite me. I was mom and you don’t bite mom. Unfortunately, I live in an area with a lot of animals ( birds, rabbits,etc) and a small mouse got in my screen windows and went for their food. Lots of activity in their cage that night , but I thought one had fallen off its perch. Woke up that morning to two dead birds. It’s been 5 months and I’m still not over it. If it didn’t bite then, it’s easy to scare them to death. Their little hearts are in the front of their chest and if they panicked trying to get away and flew into the cage barrier too many times, it could kill them. I don’t want to go through more months of training. Next time, it’s definitely caiques ( btw, the cat got the mouse)

For a people wondering Caiques really like rough play and wrestling. This is pretty normal behaviour, as a Caique owner I see they are having a blast of a time.

I am considering buying a pair of these, but I have no experience with parrots. I keep many kinds of songbirds, finches are parakeets. Can I keep them in an outdoor aviary? Will they mix with other species or are they aggressive? Also, are they noisy like macaws or cockatoos? Thanks for any advice you can give me, as I am not sure if I will like them, I'm a bit scared of them having aggressive attitudes and biting me!

Hi Stan. That action with these birds is fine. With others species of parrot it wouldn’t be as well received. But caiques love it. Their spine stays straight and their bodies are very stocky and strong. Their body language tells you they like it. Have you seen two caiques play together before l? They can seem quite brutal but it’s normal caique fun play.

I say this is animal abuse he literally turned them upside down by pulling on its tail feathers do you know how painful that would be? Imagine you had a tail and someone pulled on it so hard it flipped you imagine how painful that would feel and it looks like it's trying to get you to stop by biting you and you think it's trying to play with you because it hoping stuff yeah they do like being upside down but don't pull on their tail feathers like that it'll seriously fuck your relationship with that bird a caique is like a small cockatoo it can seem playful 1 moment and it can turn aggressive real quick I'm taking full 180° turn and they but harder than a rock that fel from 5 feet

I tend to agree although I don't have experience with caiques. I just know you the more rough you play with ANY pet, the more aggressive they become. I understand caiques like to hand wrestle and hang from your hands, but I'm not too sure about tossing them around like that. Sure, it's not hurting them, but it's not playing on their terms. Perhaps they will tolerate it for awhile, but one day, they may decide not to, and then you've suddenly got mean bird on your hands...pun intended.

No these types of parrots need a lot of stimulation and space. Very high maintenance.

I have budgies lol. If I did this to them they'd be either traumatized for the rest of their lives, or try to assassinate me with very painful, blood-drawing bites. Or both. This is so cute ❤️ Really wish I could get caiques, they are so adorable, but I know they're not a good fit for my lifestyle and personality.

Hi Cherrie. They were hand raised with love and skill and then I try and respect their boundaries, allow them the say no and spend lots of time with them. Then their playful personalities come out without training.

I never heard of caiques before until I saw them on KZbin. I love them..their noises, playfulness, laying on their backs, marching, everything about them. They're fun and beautiful birbs!!🦜🦜🧡🧡🤣🤣💋💋🥰🥰
