6:09 full flat grind , spyderco made an entire company off that boring grind. And that ratio , speaking of spyderco, I'll show it next to the pm2 on my video.

Very comfortable in hand and I don't have a problem with steel liner locks so I have no problem with the steel frame lock either. Pretty nice knife and I feel the price reflects the quality. Of course I'd rather it be titanium ...but at least the lock isn't sticky , (looking at you strider) 🤣

When I ordered my first one I was expecting junk. I was very surprised. This is a very serviceable knife and sheath. If you manage somehow to destroy it or lose it just grab another one.
@samuelpope7798Күн бұрын
I never use the front lanyard hole but I like it because it gives a nice tactile feel when you are hiked up on the handle.

I have two. It's a great value. The sheath is serviceable. A good sheath upgrade is the BPS sheath with dangler (great fit). I like the steel in these it's much better than BPS knives 1055. The D2 in the Flissa isn't as hard as D2 in other brands I own but it isn't total crap either. It doesn't trow sparks as well as a Mora carbon steel (as you would expect) but it is somewhat semi stainless and has similar edge retention as Mora carbon. I doubt you will be able to break this blade doing bushcraft tasks. Full tang and really thick.

I prefer the Spartan, it's not quite as strong but it has a 4.5 inch blade and looks way cooler in my opinion, It's still extremely strong though.

I have an original Link with 420 steel. For my use and hand size it has been my choice for daily carry for over 5 years now. I want to get one of the M390 or 20CV models just to try out a better steel although the 420 has been fine.

I think it's not ugly. I like the blade shape. Also, it's kinda price/ value champion. I use it for everything including bushcrafting. Not the best at anything, but does everything good. Pretty good, indeed....

Everything good but clip is not strong. Clip always ejected from sheath.

Oh, I get into one or two a week :) I just got the Magnum Tanto XII in VG-10 San Mai. Its a monster And its more or less at the limit of how long a traditional Tanto was made. Plus, unlike the Katana, any one in Japan, during the "Day" could carry a Tanto. Many where short utility blades.

The stop-pin is captured but not fixed... which may be why it moves "rattles" when there is no pressure on it (locked or fully-closed). The reason is because it will rotate and not get worn out if it was fixed. I'm not sure but I think I read that somewhere when Andrew Demko explained his tri-ad lock design.

I developed a taste for the "weirder" Cold Steel knives, like the asymmetrical Counter Tac boot knife for example and I will get myself a Kobun soon, because I have started finding how thin it is kind of sexy. I almost got one many years ago, just because I wanted a Tanto fighting knife, but back then I decided to spend a little more and get myself a Recon Tanto instead. Back then I considered the Kobun kind of the bargain bin Tanto fighter and felt like if I would be settling for something less if I would have bought it instead of the Recon Tanto. I started my collection with a "covering all the bases" mindset. With that I mean I wanted to have one of each type of knife I considered useful to have. I wanted one high quality survival knife, a bushcraft knife, a classical soldier fighting knife, a boot knife, a dagger, a neck knife, a throwing knife and so on. By now I kind of have at least one of every type of knife I wanted to have and since then I feel more free to buy knives just because I like them and because they have certain features that makes them interesting and desirable. The Kobun isn't just a toy to me though. I think I could actually use a lightweight but fully sized and fully capable fixed fighting knife that I could carry when I walk the dog and stuff like that. Its size and its prize make it relatively easily concealable and it is cheap and disposable enough that I could theoretically just ditch it if I am worried about running into police, which can't be said about the Recon Tanto in San Mai 3 steel that I bought years ago.
@TrangleC8 күн бұрын
What annoys me about Cold Steel is their practice of always bringing out a black coated version of a new fixed knife first, then discontinuing it, replacing it with a cheap stonewashed version of the same knife, discontinuing that and then only selling overpriced San Mai versions. I hate that pressure of having to buy fast if you want the coated version. I have been into knifes for a long time, but due to certain circumstances, I rarely have the free money to spend hundreds of bucks on a toy knife I will never use and I have missed out on so many knives I would like to have had.

Great job! But you should know WHY the Cold Steel Kobun is so popular. Just after September11th, 2001, the CIA sent several covert operators into Afghanistan to gather intelligence and make connections with potential assets. They needed to give their agents a durable, lightweight, fighting knife that would be easy to conceal. Cold Steel readily fulfilled that contract! Many Army, Marine, Navy, and Air Force operators and servicemembers carry it on deployment to this day; I have one.....

I've been collecting knives since the mid 80's. And I've bought my fair share of "20 dollar" knives. Most of which turned out to be not so good. So just be aware, you get what you pay for. As for a Tanto, I have the Cold Steel Recon Tanto, bought it back in the 80's, when they where still made from Carbon V steel, and made int he USA. That was a long time ago. Ah, your have a Recon Tanto. Yes its a good blade for camping. It was the Utility blade of the Japanese.

I really don't know why Mossy OAK pocket knives have such a bad reputation. I have about 25 of them. For just a Sunday-go-to- meetin pocket knife, I like them. Cost is about 10 bucks, I've never had one start rusting, handle color doesn't fade, and the spring action stays good. For the price, good little knives. I have bought my grandsons several of them.

Gentlemen, I Love my Spyderco PM2 and several other Soyderco models, however the Benchmade “Adira” is the BEST every day carry knife on the market today. I was so impressed with the Benchmade “Adira”, that I ordered the Benchmade “Undercurrent” fixed blade and what a Great decision as this is my favorite fixed blade as of today. Both of these knives are from the New Benchmade “Water Series” with the Magnacut blade and beautiful blue synthetic grips. The sheath for the fixed blade is also well designed, compact, durable & the same beautiful blue color. Benchmade “Water Series” has surpassed the competition with these new designs. I like a big knife like the “Adira”, however they offer a “mini-Adira” more along the size of the Spuderco PM3

Not going to lie, this knife isn't my favorite. It's okay. It's not the worst knife for sure. My biggest complaint is it needs some type of guard or something to keep your fingers off the blade during hard use. There isn't much there to prevent your hand from sliding down on that blade. Basically I've got better fixed blades from ESEE, TOPS, Kershaw, Cold Steel, Gerber, Becker/Kabar, Ontario, Morakniv, Buck, Benchmade, Schrade, Nedfoss, that SDOKEDC DC53 blade that's sold on Amazon is the straight up bomb for $25. Yes the last 2 I mentioned are Chinablades, but they're pretty good for the $. And this is just talking fixed blades. Some of my Chinablades that are folders are pretty freaking good. The RAT1 is still my EDC though.

Hi Matt, since you own both the older italian made 3v one as well as the newer SM3 version, have you removed the scaled on both to verify that the older Italian made 3v versions had the solid full tang compared to the new post GSM (4032ss and SM3) ones that were revealed to be more of a skeletonized tang from Joe-X's videos? Unfortunately he didn't test a 3v version. The 3v AK47 he broke down turned out to be a solid full tang but both the SM3 and 4032ss versions he tested for the warcraft were skeletonized.

Considering what knives cost nowadays that is still a very good knife at $70, but you can definitely pay less if you shop around enough. Lastly, that knife is a hell of alot tougher than you might think, you should check out Joe X's destruction video on one of those and see for yourself.
