It’s a 1075 blade. Ontario stopped using 1095 a while back. You can tell because the ones in 1095 are stamped into the steel and 1075 are lazier engraved

I thought so… but most of the sites are still listing it in 1095. All the others are 1075 so I assumed this one was, but I do think you are correct. I think they may still use 1095 on their Rat series though.

The fact you have 2 SP1’s justifies me wanting several very similar blades😂👌

its a beautiful knife even if it's 1075. Is my van carry since I got it. However now that the company got bought out I think I'm gonna find a new kukri to keep in my Van. Wouldn't want to loose this one. Great Video.

I got a Rat7 a few months back that had a terrible grind. 2 totally different angles on the sides. I spent a long time with it on the stone and got it re profiled but yeah it took some work

Disappointing man!

thanks for pointing this out. i literally just did a live unboxing of this knife too, and i thought my eyes were deceiving me. the grind seems to taper out then in. that may be deliberate. but now i looked at it again and can't tell if it's totally even. i see it in yours for sure. i'll have to check again in the morning.

Dang man. That sucks because the older models were super solid

The SMITH & WESSON kukri looks almost identical but is made from stainless steel and seems to be much sharper out of the box.

TLDR; i feel that in my bones brotha… i seriously don’t understand why they shutdown OKC….😢 - Been waiting on restocking of their 18” D-handle for about a year… Finally decided to send an email inquiring. No response… Sent a follow up. No response… Did a little diving, found out they got bought out and shut down for whatever reason, i ONLY ever hear overall high praise about OKC. Managed to find the last instock 18” D-handle I could find on the internet 🙏🙏🙏 LOVE this machete so much I started looking into other styles and also more (discontinued) OKC blades Currently talking importation with a seller that has one last of these Kukris!! More🙏🙏🙏 I also am debating on picking up one of the 22” D-handles that i found a few stragglers of🤔🤔 Do i need a 12” kukri

I bought a Ontario 499. It is amazing the lack of craftsmanship and quality control. It compares to post Soviet Union manufacturing, I just don't understand why a company allows such product sold as first quality.

My Ontario Kukri is also warped and curved. They all come like this....and Ontario doesn't care. It is what it is with them, unfortunately.

Mine is 1095 steel.

Yet it can withstand more abuse than 99% of other manufacturers' blades. Still, a centered edge is a minimum requirement.
@Eco19 Жыл бұрын
That 99% part is what makes it matter tho That being said, my OKC has a nearly perfectly centred edge so i guess i lucked out lol

Ontario knife company was SOLD and the 88 employees were let go, the factory was closed. The OKC "named" knives are just that now. Named.
@Eco19 Жыл бұрын
No, all the OKC blades you find are legitimate, they were all produced prior to shutdown No new parent company has recreated/reproduced any of their blades that have looked in to Find that last 1 instock at some random shop or that one person selling a used in hopefully good condition and it should more than likely be the real deal(unless theres some chinese knock offs floating around out there)
