I’ve got some diamond cut wheels and flitz polish seems to have given one of them a matte finish and not mirror like. The other three I didn’t use it on are fine, but I’m upset that my one is terribly matte and I will likely have to sand all 4 to make them match again. The pre klean worked great for the back like the video shows, but the polish makes me hesitant to try it on any other wheel. Diamond cut at least.

For a simple one step enhancement what waffle pad do you recommend? Hard, medium or soft?

That is totally dependent on the amount of correction needed. But in most cases Gold Standard Polish paired with a medium polishing pad is all that is needed to satisfy most people.

@autoforge17 күн бұрын

@DanBurger-bg2cp18 күн бұрын
Rubbing the paint after identifying it has "grit" with a plastic bag just scratched the paint. If a decontamination is required, then various steps are required before claying. Poor video
@autoforge17 күн бұрын
If you have identified that there is contamination on the paint then there is no need to use the baggy. In this particular case identifying that the paint needed to be clayed was only found after checking it with a plastic bag. Maybe go back and rewatch that part of the video. Rubbing "clean" paint lightly with a plastic bag will not scratch the paint. The contaminates are bonded to the paint so the plastic bag is not moving them around on the paint causing marring like wiping a dusty car. I assume you are alluding to using a fallout remover. Not always needed.
@MistrZIGZAG18 күн бұрын
You absolutely should have used a paint prep before the real coating. The detailer only lasts a couple weeks, so when that comes off, so will the top layer of ceramic coating. No matter what 303’s website says, it will always last longer when applied directly to clear coat.
@autoforge17 күн бұрын
I trust what the manufacturer and their chemist recommend. That would be like saying a primer polish that can be used as a stand alone product for months of protection or can be used a base and can be directly coated over with a true ceramic coating will only last months because that's all the primer coating will let as a stand alone product. When products are made from the same family of chemicals you have product synergy and work together perfectly fine.
@MistrZIGZAG17 күн бұрын
@@autoforge the manufacturer saying it can be applied to “unprepped paint” does not mean you should apply it over wax for instance. That’s common sense. The coating will only last as long as the surface it’s applied to. In this case your base layer is the detailer which only lasts a few weeks. Unprepped just means no clay, or paint correction needed.
@autoforge16 күн бұрын
@@MistrZIGZAG If the surface had any wax or polishing oils you would be correct, but in this instance it is being applied over a compatible product. The manufacturer does not state that it can be applied to unprepped paint, the amount of prep needed will vary from car to car but in this case a simple light claying is all that was needed. As I said I trust what the manufacturer and their chemist recommend. Here's a video from 303 applying the Graphene Nano Spray Coating over their detailer without any panel prep being used. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIS7pHx7aJtloKs

Cardinal rule - don’t do this in the sun
@autoforge19 күн бұрын
Yes, normally that is the cardinal rule but there are products that are sun safe. The issue is more that the panel and paint are hot and that is where the problem is, not so much that it is being used in the sun.

What about using an OPC cleaner after the rejuvenating oil . It’s a stronger cleaner
@autoforge19 күн бұрын
The rejuvenating oil not only cleans the leather but conditions it also. Where as OPC cleaner may be stronger it does not condition the leather but rather in all likely hood would dry it out even more.

On matt stickers same process?
@autoforge24 күн бұрын
On a matt finish you have to very careful when it comes to rubbing on the finish so that you don't end up with a shiny spot where you were too aggressive rubbing on it. Safest way is to simply lay a microfiber towel saturated with the water spot remover on the matt finish and let the product do the work, do not rub on the matt vinyl.

Can you polish for aluminum wheels from the factory?
@autoforge24 күн бұрын
Yes as long as they are not clear coated from the factory. Easy way to check if they are clear coated or not is to rub a small spot with polish and then check your polishing cloth. If it turns black they are not cleared and you can use a metal polish on them. If your cloth doesn't turn black then they have a clear protective coating on them. In this situation a normal car wax is what you want to use.

Garbage infomercial. Bunch of snake oil. Flitz is not the best aluminum polish. Blue rouge is for plastics. If you are finishing metal you want to use black, brown tripoli, white then follow up with mothers billet polish. Flitz is just a cleaner and you will see how cloudy it is when you use it. NEVER trust an infomercial. You would be a fool if you do.
