@@410Gregj yes, why? you don't think Nicko can teach him a thing or two? You think Nicko can't lift his arms even , he will likely also record the following album. You obviously are very ignorant about performing, playing live is always more intense than studio, specially for vocals.

I remember going to this tour where a guy with a huge cross was out front trying to get people not to go in to the show in Lansing mi. The churches really didn't like that album but a great show ! The whole Satanic panic was over the top crazy at the time. Very strange it was indeed .

I went to many concerts where I didn't know any of the music from the opening band. And I had read about Maiden and heard a couple of songs w/Paul Dianno who was the singer before Number, featuring Bruce Dickinson's first vocal performance w/Maiden. I knew of the Biblical Number way before this. So I bought a "promo" of Number and crammed it in 5 days before they opened for the Scorpions whom I loved. Thursday +Saturday they rocked. Saturday I was doing shrooms. And when the full moon passed the edge of the pavilion where we were seated they played Hallowed Be Thy Name! One of the great moments and memories in my rock concert life. There albums and playing got better but that one sticks with you. And their youthfulness and Clive Burr's drumming made it so great. And yet, the Scorpions Blackout blew them away. Great opening for great.

Ok....y'all need to go back and watch some Maiden docos and interviews with Steve Harris. It was NOT from reading The Omen, but a nightmare after watching Damien: Omen 2. Also, totally missed in the influences is the Robert Burns poem "Tam o'Shanter" , which, if you read and compare to the song lyrics you will see the parallels with the 2 verses post Bruce's legendary scream. It mirrors Tam watching the rituals of The Beast running a party of the dead and damned. So, to the dude that made the video...up your game.
@caveman30217 күн бұрын
Bruce once said in an interview that they got the idea for the song while Steve was reading the novel The Omen. That biblical quote was printed at the beginning, so its ironic how the Christians got all excited lol Iron Maiden were tame compared to some of the bands that were to come forward in the next few years😉

I've been a fan of maiden since 83. I first heard maiden in 82 when I was 16 and the song was the titular number of the beast. I was off put by it at first but when I delved deeper into is broader meaning I was hooked. Up the irons and down with tyranny. 🤘🤘

His addiction issues led to Dimebag getting killed onstage. Dime wouldn't have been there because Pantera would've still been going on.
@butchvito10 күн бұрын
Addiction or not, Phil was getting burned out with Pantera. You're saying if he was clean his interest would be 100% with Pantera? Stupid ass way of looking at it. Bands slip up or take hiatuses all the time. You can't force someone do a gig they have no desire for. No one could have predicted what happened to Dimebag that night.

Undoubtedly one, if not the most idiotic and baseless comments I've ever heard in my life!!!!!!!
@brentalanadamlandgrave763510 күн бұрын
@nitrojunkie9027 wow. All those exclamation points! What you're saying must be true, then! 🤔 The fact is, if Phil hadn't been the way he was, he wouldn't have been burnt out with Pantera, Dime wouldn't have been on stage with Damageplan, and both Abbott brothers might be alive to this day, considering Vinnie essentially died of a broken heart. Dislike what I said all you want, but that doesn't make it less true.
@nitrojunkie902710 күн бұрын
@brentalanadamlandgrave7635 everyone in that band had extreme addiction issues, everyone was burnt out. Rex had pursued other projects with Phil all while being a hardcore alcoholic, does he contribute anything in this because of his addictions. And to say Dime wouldn't have been on stage if it wasn't for Phil is laughable at best. If Phil was going to quit the band and move on (which he didn't up until that point). Dime and Vinnie would have moved on regardless, because that's who they were and what they were about. Place the blame where it is due, how about the government and the Healthcare system that paid no attention to a Veteran that showed signs of being mentally ill although all the warning signs were there. Can't stand the people that try and blame Philip for what happened with Dime, ya'll always talking about "if he didn't say this.....or if he wasn't strung out"........blah blah blah. Doesn't change the simple fact that a mentally ill person that thought Pantera stoled his music, fell off the deep end and killed Dime in a heinous act of violence. Nothing Philip did or said had anything to do with it, and to think otherwise......is foolish.

@paulsmith561110 күн бұрын
If you read Rex's book he points to Vinnie having major ego as part of the problem too. Phil was the reason for the problems we read about but I'm sure there were others. They all had egos and all had drug and alcohol problems plus the egos and drugs and alcohol of the people around them. What could go wrong?
