3:22 - thesis: art isn't to be representational of how things are, but to illicit/evoke emotions and spiritual sensations 4:22 - artists are prophets doomed to impoverishment, with secret vision to satisfy the inner need of humans, but must refine the human soul. accomplished by taking art into the kingdom of the abstract.

In the words of Garlfield "I hate mondays". Looks like you guys had an amazing trip though anyways! Did you try to get to the New Museum? I thought that was one of the better galleries when I went out. Also for me the Gugenheim is super cool architecturally but I was not too fussed with the show I saw there either. Hope ur 30's are full of more great art!

I have heard the new museum is really cool! Will have to go back! Look forward to seeing you soon!

I'm sorry about the closed galleries, and your experience with the Guggenheim and BK museum. Honestly, I usually just go to the guggenheim bc they seem to rotate exhibits more often than other spots, (i know the permanent collection well...)but even then sometimes it feels small. MOMA is always pretty solid too. In terms of galleries, Gagosian has a few spots in town, so does Paula Cooper and David Zwirner, which... are arguably pretty well known. I recently found out about CLAMP (haven't been but their current expo but... saw a few pictures and it looked interesting if you like photography). Also recently found out about GLADSTONE GALLERY which has some cool things (currently painting, installation and sculpture! Nice mix.) Anyway, Happy Birthday!

It is - or was - a BBC TV series. Putting the TV series into a book was always going to be challenging. Your summaries show you haven't really grasped the argument and importance of the book. This is a really poor, shallow response to one of the really great interventions in this field.

After watching this video I recommended to my book club that we read it. We have so I wanted to thank you. We loved it, the insight into both the art world and the human psyche. 🙏😊

Loved the review, will definitely read the book! It's sad yet somehow comforting to know that the art world is the same everywhere 🥲 Thank you for making videos on art theory, it's helping me tremendously to rekindle the passion towards art and creativity that art school did its best to snuff out 💕

You might not have caught on to every page of the book, but you nailed the basic idea when you mentioned “the soul of humanity”. You’re also right that, for some reason, people shy away from a sincere discussion of the ideas. Frankly, I believe the ideas are quite within reach, and profitably so, if explored via that sincere discussion. Very good video.

As a brazilian, I feel incredibly honored to see Feire’s work being talked about and celebrated around the world. His work had a undeniable impact on the way teachers, students and citizens perceive and partake in the brazilian educational system and it’s flaws. He was a visionary. And besides that, this book was published during the brazilian dictatorship that lasted 21 years, when he was exiled in Chile. Overall, great video! Hopefully, more and more people will discover him and his work. It was truly groundbreaking for me and it surely will be for many others.

😂 we chose Quest’s name because Q is the letter between G and Z, but ALSO because I had read Into the Woods and I had just gotten Zarina to read it as we began writing. And of course, game playing/game criticism background. Long time fairy tale fan. Long time LOTR fan. The Art Quest KZbin videos on @thewhitepube showed me rereading Into the Woods a way into writing it when I needed a refresher 😂 you have no idea how spot on you were hahaha I love this video so much. I wish all reviews were this fun
