@@rexxwxstakencdl if you’re brand new and never been an owner operator. I would recommend a few months in the lease purchase program here, it Gives you a good front row seat to the business. If you can’t keep up with the expenses of a lease purchase program here you won’t make it buying your own truck, but at least this way you won’t have a big ding on your credit. You can walk away from the lease at any time and Go buy a truck and bring it on to CRST. They are cool with that.
@rexxwxstakencdl7 күн бұрын
@ hmm got you, ill take that advice. Thats what i thinking originally but i was considering not having to pay weekly for a lease. Ive done flatbed since i got my CDL (1.5 years), i knew not to go to crst right now🤣 winter is super slow
@sturgelltruckingllc40747 күн бұрын
@ the holidays are slow, but I’m busier in the winter because I run up north and no one wants to run in the snow weekly monthly. Doesn’t really matter at all. Works out the same in the end. If you can’t afford the lease purchase payment and the mileage plan for maintenance you’ll never make it out in your own truck Only real benefits to owning your own truck is having your name on the door being able to take it. Anywhere you want maintain it better and buy a better truck to begin with but on paper a lease purchase guy could do just about as good as me when the smoke clears at the end of the year.

@sturgelltruckingllc40747 күн бұрын
@@noahreed2920 most 4” straps out there are rated at 5400 lbs working load limit, which is good for 10,800 pounds worth of cargo, I don’t remember what trailer I had when I made this video but the winches may have only been rated at 4k WLL Which would make it only worth 8K of cargo (you always go by the weakest link in the chain) The trailer I have now the winches are rated at 5500lbs WWL which is more than the straps are rated for, So all my straps are now good for 10,800 pounds worth of cargo. I finally got all the repairs done on my 48' flat spread axle. Have a question about lumber loads as there are tons of them around Georgia. The loadboard shows 48' 48K. How much wiggle room do they have in moving the weight back? My drives are at 12,500 so I can only put 21,500 on my drives and the rest on the spread. What I usually see going down the road are loads that have a single pallet on the top stack in the middle of the trailer. If that single was at the front, would that be enough to keep me legal on the drives?
@sturgelltruckingllc407426 күн бұрын
@@2020HotShotTruckingLLC I usually go with what the loaders recommend and check my suspension gauges and or scale before I tarp everything up, It’s something you’ll have to learn about your own truck and I don’t haul enough lumber to really answer this with confidence for you.
@2020HotShotTruckingLLC26 күн бұрын
@@sturgelltruckingllc4074 Thanks! I know most forklift drivers know how to load you to keep it legal, but so many of the posted loads show 48' and 48K. So if the load needs the whole 48' I'm not sure how they can shift the weight to make it legal. I figure it's got to be possible or else there would be no long haul loads if a sleeper truck couldn't haul it.
