Sorry if this is a dumb question but I've never leased onto a carrier, only have experience as a company driver and a full owner operator under my own authority. So my question is about insurance.... running under my own authority I was paying $1800 a month for a million dollars liability plus a $100k for cargo, when you lease onto CRST do they charge you for all of that or just for bobtail insurance? I'm trying to figure up monthly expenses for leased on vs my own authority so can you give me an idea what crst charges per month for everything? Thanks a lot man! I appreciate your videos and any help you can give me 👍
@sturgelltruckingllc40743 күн бұрын
@@larrymcintire9848 you pay $40 a month for bobtail insurance and whatever you want to insure your truck for, or whatever the bank makes you insure it for in case somebody hits you that does not have insurance, it ranges from $0 if you don’t want uninsured motorist to maybe $500 a month for a new $200K truck, if you have a truck financed your bank will require you to carry uninsured motorist on it though, mine is like $225 a month for $50k worth of insurance CRST picks up the cargo and liability insurance out of the 25% you give up, plus there’s lots of other things you get for the 25% , I do have a video on this topic if you wanna scroll through my videos and find it, it might be a year or a year and a half old, but it’s still the same, hope this helps…

I believe the reason we have “steering wheel holders“ is because there is no pride in your work. I remember being taught at the driving school I went to that was taught by two former owner operators that were from the 70s and 80s era! They taught respect! They taught Ownership! They taught you how to take responsibility and how to learn how to be a truck driver. The schools now are just funneling drivers through so that the “mega carrier“ can get their driver in the truck making money for the company. I have found that there is a big attitude shift from when I was in school to now. I believe that the graduating class of 98 to 2002 is the end of the “old school“ truck driver. I graduated in 2001 and was taken aside a couple of times by old school drivers that said “looks son, you can’t do it like that“. That spoke volumes to me! But on the flipside of that, I wanted to learn. I don’t think anyone really wants to learn anymore. They are just out here doing their thing with no concern for others! A prime example, I was trying to pass a Schneider truck and my truck is covered at 68 mile an hour. It took me 15 miles to get completely around him! If the tables had been turned, as soon as you see that the guy is a little faster than you, tap the brakes and back off for 10 seconds to let that truck get around! It is sad that I feel like I am the end of the old school truck driver. And like you said in your video, you can’t even talk to these steering wheel holders because they get so offended that we have just stopped Trying to give advice because they don’t want it.

Back going thru your securement videos. On my Reitnouer flatbed the tag gives you 6,600 for the rubrail. There's two entries for the stake pockets so I assume the 4,000 one is for hooking the pocket and 5,400 for wrapping it. 6,600 for two spools, but 5,000 for one spool and 1 pocket. There's also 6,600 for "tie-downs" which I assume are for the J-hook tie downs. I'm thinking about buying some of those, but I'll have to pick them up... some of these places want a fortune in shipping and we all know that $$$ isn't going to the driver!

I think you make some valid points, especially when it comes to truck stops and driver quality but It didn’t seem efficient to have to call shippers and receivers for directions. I also think you older guys put too much emphasis on knowing to how to drive a Manuel truck, knowing how to drive a Manuel truck doesn’t automatically make you a good driver. Otherwise great video I’ve been watching your older videos on lead purchase thanks for the advice 🤝🏾
