So basically, hard wood charcoal does the same job as activated charcoal just not as fast? Obviously depending on the intended use faster may be better but in general it's not necessary if speed isn't essential?

I make my own extract and I have been looking for a way to get the color out of this extract because it would be much better if it weren't so dark and I'm going to try this and please God say you are the miracle I've been looking for

You can repurpose a couple pieces of plastic, spread spots the size of your feet, cover with a single layer of paper towel, mist it with some water, put them on the floor by your feet and sit at your desk with your feet on the charcoal and a pair of old socks standing by. With the papertowel, you can simply lift your feet, put your socks on, go do what you need to do then come back, mist the papertowel, take your socks back off and put your feet back on it. And you can do that all day for a good spa detox! Just don't try to walk with it wrapped around your feet as it can be pretty slick, both on carpet and inside a pair of socks. Best to leave it, come back, take your socks back off, mist the papertowel and keep going. I like a thick, all day layer of the gel but you can do it for just an hour with a thinner layer, if that's all the time you have. When you're done, simply turn the bag inside out, put your waste in it, tie it off and toss it. You can also apply a thick layer of gel directly on the skin on the inside of your wrists, over the veins, cover with plastic, cut the toes off an old pair of socks and pull them on over the gel patch to keep it in place - or use vet wrap. Excellent for an oncoming cold or sore throat. With this, the gel is in direct contact with the skin so it won't slide around. For easy cleanup, you can put a single layer of gauze under it. It will still stick to the skin but will be much easier to get off.

I wouldn't use paper towels unless they were bleach free and organic.

I was fascinated by this video. I found this while looking for DIY charcoal activation. I started watching and watched it while cleaning my bathroom. It was informative and interesting, and JD's delivery of this information is as readily absorbable as his products.

My dog ate something it shouldnt have. Fed it activated charcoal from my aquarium stock. No adverse effect from the charcoal or the stuff accidently eaten. Cant even remember what it was now! Just remember freaking out, wondering how much time I had before my dog got sick & had to see the vet. Lol.

Could you clarify for us how to actually do it? When I have done it it sticks to mouth and teeth. The video as it is coming through only shows how to put the powder onto a toothbrush which is quite a different thing than the title says is included. We don't know the benefits, how long to brush, how to ensure it all leaves the mouth and teeth, etc. Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't the paper towel between the charcoal and skin to at least some degree effect draw strength? Is there a way to do it directly against skin without creating a royal mess? My nutritionist recommended castor oil for liver detox, would that be in place of water?

The charcoal destroyed the pump on my sprayer unfortunately. You would be better off to use a sprinkler can for a small area.

I came here to learn more about charcoal, because it definitely works for pain/removing what it was causing the pain. My husband had been having terrible headaches and back of neck pain, going down into his arms and hands. He had used some old prescription medication which gave some relief, but not for long and he only had a couple doses before the bottle was empty. Nothing else helped. It came to me (I believe Yahwah) to try some charcoal. As has been usual for the past couple weeks he was up in the living room from recliner to couch (I am a night owl) and he was miserable. I went to get the charcoal and he'd fallen asleep, so I waited for him to wake up at 0230. Then I gave him two capsules of activated charcoal for a total of 520 mg., put an icepack on the back of his neck. Then I went to bed. At 0600 he said he got relief fairly soon after. He asked for more, so I gave him two more capsules. I do hope he will be better tonight. He asked me why I gave it to him, and all I could think of was he was intolerant to tomatoes which he loves and perhaps had been poisoned. He said he felt much better overall, too. I haven't heard a moan or groan or complaint yet and it's been 12 hours. He is Type 2 diabetic and takes metformin and glipizide which are unnatural to the body and is more likely the source of the pain. He's working with fasting and diet to get off it.
