Removing the small plug drained practically no oil from the housing. Probably better off just removing the whole thing and not even bothering.

Your filter will come with a plastic release tube that you can insert after you remove the small plug cap. Of course it's usually messy too and you can skip straight to the mess as you say. Thanks for the comment!

Well Jason? Just to add to your opinion I decided that I'm not going to take my FJ to have the oil changed at my local stealership. And this hasn't happened just once or twice but everytime I take my vehicle in for an oil change. You make an appointment at say 10:00 and I'm not out of there till way past 12:30. Overbooking? Not my problem anymore. I evaluated my circumstance this way. It take me over 40 minutes to get to the stealership they make me wait an hour and a half before they start on my vehicle and stick me with an oil change bill over $120 and I've got another 40 minute drive home. I just bought the oil filter for $14, and at the time I paid about $30 for 0-20 weight oil so $44 later and only 30 minutes no travel time and I am for certain that fully synthetic 0-20 is going into my FJ. I'm changing my own oil because the stealerships don't care about my time. Whatever time it takes me to setup is way shorter than the trip and the actual time start to finish is nothing compared to the stealership ordeal. Thanks for putting this up its been awhile so a quick refresher was necessary in my case.

The fan on mine is completely loose on the fan shaft and it scraping the other parts inside. My fan sits on top of that motor and flops around. Help
@SwimmingintheDeep
@SwimmingintheDeep 19 күн бұрын
There's a set screw on your fan blade where to attaches to the shaft of the motor, if that's what you're talking about check that. If your motor mounts have fallen off, there's a chance that you might be able to retighten all those and use some new hardware. Otherwise you may need a new motor. To get a new motor for an older unit. Check out and see if there's a Grainger around you. If you take your motor into them they can match it up. There's a few things that are important when matching up these motors. The frame size, the amps, the RPMs, and the direction that they spend either cockwise or counterclockwise. Generic replacement motors you can flip them from cockwise to counterclockwise with the change in wires or something else in the motor will tell you about that. You're dealing with electricity so make sure you turn off the disconnect. Also there's a such thing as dual speed and variable speed motors. You may have a single speed motor. All this will be dependent on how many wires that you have. You may be lucky in fine that you can find one with the exact number of wires you have then you replace a wire for wire. That is if you have to replace the motor. Good luck.

Looks like box says 11 hours running on gas 34 hours running on propane (champion site says 25 hours). I'm assuming the 11 hours is 1 tank of gas which is 1 gallon of gas. Propane is 20lb tank which is 4 gallons since they don't fill them all the way. If I have 4 gallons of gas it would run for 44 hours on gas.

@SwimmingintheDeep 23 күн бұрын
Hi there, Unless your unit is very similar to mine, the motor is likely to be different. Try to match the RPMs/Amps and frame size of the motor. All of that should be on the side. An easy thing to do is to take your motor to a place that sells motors and they'll help you match it up. Look for a Grainger near you or a motor shop.

Just had the Pentair T40-B installed (replaced a 20 year old auto fill unit) and when it's adding water to the pool it seems most of the water is entering through the float valve (located inside the auto fill unit) rather than through the water outlet that goes directly into the pool. Is this normal?
@SwimmingintheDeep
@SwimmingintheDeep Ай бұрын
I think I understand what you are saying and it is normal. The level in the autofill area is exactly the same level as the pool level. The hole that goes into your pool allows for the two levels to remain equal. If you place your hand down in the water inside the pool at the hole...you will likely feel the new cold water entering there very slowly. You don't notice the movement as that hole is a lot bigger than the diameter of a water hose.

Start at the Salt Water Chlorinator power transformer. If it is like mine, it is in your Easy Touch box. Carefully use a multimeter to see if it is outputting voltage when your pool pump is on. Your dealing with either 120v or 240v so use caution. If you don't feel comfortable doing that get a friend who is.

Great video, unfortunately it seems all Thermoplastic filters develop leaks within a few years, Hayward is no different. Also seems to be more prevalent on systems with large 2 hp pumps, some systems with 3/4-1hp super pumps make it 10 years or more. Fiberglass is definitely better but with a much higher cost few people choose that option. We're moving from Hayward to Pentair because of so many quality control issues the past few years, hoping Pentair is a least a little better. We had several filters and multiports leak on brand new installs, even had a standpipe inside an S244T not glued on the bottom (all the sand wound up in the customers pool after the first time they backwashed). The list goes on, I believe Pentair is the only product still made in the US.

I'm using a RaspberryPi and software I developed to monitor and control my Pentair system /EasyTouch from a phone, PC, iPad. Spent probably about $120 in parts to make this happen. Not only it works great, but I have custom automation (macros) that can run circuits in sequence for a specific time. One button pool schedule change from Summer to Winter schedule, etc. Also capture telemetry to detect possible pump, IC, Mastertemp issues before/as they start.

That's cool. Does it provide two-way feedback? Like does it confirm that something's running at the time that it's on? Hooked into doing this but instead decided just to fix my board, I now use my old screenlogic system with the intended automation that pentair gives. I had to get a hot air workstation and replace the comm chip but it now works flawlessly again with two-way feedback. Your system would make for an excellent KZbin video if someone's not already done it. I would watch it.

@@SwimmingintheDeep, yes, I designed it to display circuit status as unconfirmed in different color. As soon as the SW sees EasyTouch status message confirming it was turned on or off, the color changes. This typically takes about 10s. Good point, I should probably make a video of the UI.

@@SwimmingintheDeep thanks for the reply, the spa side I set it up is working fine. the panel inside stopped working so it's either the panel itself or the com port on the board outside.
