Sometimes i use a philips head and sort of grind it around in a circle to create the hole for the head but i like this. Much more uniform and consistent. Thank u for this!

I just don't understand how the side pieces worked out to be even. You measured from a square cushion and then you cut the corners round. Maybe I flunked geometry but I thought that would be a different distance for a round corner. Just Asking!
@stitchingsteve
@stitchingsteve 6 ай бұрын
If I had cut the top vinyl to the correct size it would have changed and become smaller once I added the backing foam. So marked oversize (square), then laminated, then shaped to the cushions radii's and also going off centre measurements to keep symmetrical. Both side boarder and piping are cut oversize and trimmed down accordingly. If the job requires exact side boarders then "finished size" perimeter needs to be plotted and marked accordingly. Hope that makes sense

Thanks for watching! You could buy a new seat, if you can find one for a 30yr old mower. You could also set yourself up for doing jobs like this... or take it to someone who has all the gear and materials already? Plus this was for my own mower so my time and materials wasn't an issue

What was the little fabric at the end of the stitching? Where do you buy that stuff around the edge of the seat?
@stitchingsteve
@stitchingsteve 8 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching!! That little bit of fabric is scrap offcuts that I use to sew on to, to stop and start each sew line. It saves holding the thread or wasting more than you need to. Lots of comments about this... Might have to make it's own video 🤔. The stuff around the edge is either called Edge trim, door trim or push on windlace. Try your local Upholster/Motor Trimmer

6mm staples around the entire seat, but where there are 2+ layers of vinyl I will use one or two 8mm staples for a better hold.

Is that scrap piece of vinyl used so you don't have to hold the ends of the thread when starting a new line?
@stitchingsteve
@stitchingsteve Жыл бұрын
That is exactly that. Holds the thread ready for the next stitch and keeps the tension at the same time. No more binding or jamming threads in the bobbin
